Renfield (2023)
Why I gave it a 10
In the age of nearly everyone being spoiled, some saying "the plot wasnt special" HA! What movie did they watch? There are too many that don't appreciate the fun factor and finally something unique comes along and people STILL complain! It's at least an 8.5, and gave it a 10 to offset the trolls lower ratings. A perfect fit director, I think this is Chris McKay's best direction to date. Robert Kirkman, David Alpert, Bryan Furst, Sean Furst, and Nicolas Cage and Nicholas Hoult all wonderful entertainment work. The entire supporting cast was spot on. This is the most underrated of 2023. Horror-action-comedy AWARDS are deserved!
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
you had me at everything bagle
What do you type other than the obvious, it's a hit and deservedly so, it is fantastic fun entertainment. I would have given it a 10 had it not relied so heavily on the matrix and influences from sleeper.
It is missing originality, no doubt excuses will be made and viewers, producers etc. Will say things like its paying homage to, or that's the point. Whatever... I get that, even so, it is sad originality is gone in all forms of entertainment now. No matter the excuse made, it lacks originality. Or put it this way, if the matrix had never been made this movie wouldn't exist.
Bottom line, it is Absurdism at its finest.
Life of Pi (2012)
another UNDERated movie.
As celebrated as this movie has been by many since its release, it's underrated. I have no doubt due to people's hatred towards the religious epiphany. That is sad.
Speaking of sad, I so miss Irrfan Khan.
Monos (2019)
another wanna be Lord of the Flies, but with so called adults
Was it well done as far as cinematography and good acting, yes, but, nothing that hasn't been done before. It's really not an original story and that's what I wanted and expected.
Gemini Man (2019)
formulaic
Violent man William Smith is at it again in Gemini Man. It's hardly an outstanding or memorable movie. Hollywood needs someone new, and new original stories.
Richard Jewell (2019)
sad true story
Very sad what the mainstream liberal media did to Richard Jewell's life. They took it away by abusing him. Smear campaigns, they went after him blame without proof, mordern day pitch forks and torches. Liek they are trying to do to Joe Rogan for telling truths and having open discussion. The crazies are at it again.
Don't Look Up (2021)
satire poltical bonaza
Everyone knows DiCaprio is a fantastic actor, he delivers his expected level of acting. Regarding the other actors, they are OK, but I didn't see their perfomances as interesting as DiCaprio's. Bottom line, if you enjoy political propaganda disguised as satire you'll love it.
IMDb on the Scene - Interviews: The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
I would have given it a lower rating had it not had Reeves and Moss in it.
It's terrible. I am so disappointed in the story, and look of the movie. It looks like a made for TV movie. Some effects are so cheap, but besides the look, the script is awful for a "silver screen" follow up.
I have no doubt good man Keanu read the script and thought to himself, (are they serious? Ok, I'll do it if that's what they want, I'll give most of the money away to the creative team).
I am so disappointed that I wish I never watch it, it's so detached in style and story that, in a way it ruins the trilogy just knowing it exists.
No Time to Die (2021)
Daniele Craig deserved better
I think it was very good, but, they did not have to kill him off, they should have created a double surprise twist ending instead. The writers should have gotten more creative, and allowed Bond to retire peacefully with a twist.
Killing him off was an easy way out, a lousy lazy trend in Hollywood, not unlike like how they killed off Iron man, yes he gave his life to save humanity, and proof his goodness remained in tack, and he "never gave up fighting the good fight."
When writers start respecting characters again that we fall in love with, that we as fans have come to respect, they deserve a repectful ending. This ending was the worst they could have done, shower down on Bond in a hail of bombs. I felt like saying FU to the writers, and I would if I knew they would read it. I wonder if they secretly hate Craig?
I and many others will start flocking to movie theatres again (sans covid variants) when writers quit being lazy. They shouldn't have killed Bond. I can think of two different double twist endings they could have, and should have written in instead.
Daniele Craig deserved better, he gave so much of his life to the character Bond, he deserved a better ending.
Dune (2021)
Sting were are you?
I honestly think this is so over rated, just as the original was. Oh the heroin, err, um I mean spice. Teasing aside, the story line is weak, and famous cast members can't save that, just like Sting couldn't save the original
But in today's market of low expectations, and regurgitated remakes this will do well, and be well received due to it's related social and religious parities.
The Purge (2013)
the documentary before it occurred.
Basically, this is the blueprint for democratic antifa. If you enjoy violence this movie is for you.
Free Guy (2021)
Hollywood is clearly out of original ideas.
I love Ryan Remolds, I really do. And, I like the rest of the cast. The few star cameos were a nice touch as well. But, the reality is, those appearances were a necessary distraction.
Hollywood is clearly out of original ideas. This movie is nothing more than another mash-up of previous movies. Many of the movies have already been mentioned in other comment posts here on imdb, at least most of those movies were original ideas. Ready Player One, The Truman Show, The Matrix, etc. Etc. Sad to see Hollywood's current so called "writing talent" is lost, and out of original ideas. My guess is Ryan Reynolds knows that to be true, and why he purchased a small cell phone company as an exit strategy, a way for added income.
I am a positive thinker, but, I am also a realist. When you see Hollywood resorting to producing nothing original anymore, that is a clear sign creativity in this generation lacking.
We are now seeing nothing but re-hashing of old movies, and mashups of previous original flicks from big budget companies. That is not a good sign.
Church People (2021)
version 2
When will the follow-up "Mosque People" be released?
Hilarity for Charity (2018)
predicable
Seth is most funny to himself. I never thought he was funny, just as a filler character, same goes for his stand up.
The Green Knight (2021)
depressing, but...
If you do not find this depressing, honestly, seek help.
That said, I gave it 5 stars and not less because the acting, casting was very good, certainly above average. The camera work very good, along with editing, all the technical boxes checked. But the story is just depressing af.
Bottom line, if you like quirky, depressing, violent with a bit of sex tossed in, and believe in witches, and have a deep seated hate for Catholicism you'll love the movie.
Stretch (2014)
"Funny as hell"
Another underrated movie. The casting is perfection, as is the acting of every part.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
haters do nothing but spread the hate virus
Undeserved dislike by the hate spreaders.
It may not be an 8, but it is very close. Possibly if it had various different cast that might have satisficed myself and others? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, it's still fun, and good to see the back story of how the characters met, that was a story just itching to be told.
Bad Words (2013)
If you are mean, you will like it a lot.
Motivated by revenge isn't my idea of funny. I gave it two stars and not one because Jason Bateman is very talented, even if a script sucks.
I wish they made Identity Thief 2. Identity Thief was hilarious!!
Army of the Dead (2021)
sorry Dave, sorry Zack
Honestly, a three, or a 4 at best. I guess people are voting higher and maybe feel bad for Dave and Zack? It's really just a re-hash of bits and pieces of various older movies strung together loaded with clichés. The movie I thought beneath Dave and Zack's talents, after all, aren't they are considered 'A listers" ? It screams in Zombie of a money grab.
Nomadland (2020)
Hollywood elites at it again.
If you are the type that think everything in life that is depressing should be turned into a "dramatic" movie, then this one's for you. What is depressing is the "coat tailing" that this movie exploits, and no doubt the main actor and others made millions off of, meanwhile the real people in the movie are living very hard and difficult lives.
The Break-Up (2006)
For the pretentious
If you are an artsy wealthy type you'll like the ending, because you will relate to the superficiality of her choice.
Jurassic World (2015)
Irrfan Khan
I miss Irrfan Khan so. when I watch his acting, somehow his sincerity in his art gave me hope. as popular as he was, I still think he was under-rated. He was a true mega talent and gone way too soon. condolences to his friends and family.
Vanilla Sky (2001)
shocked
I am quite shocked this did not win multiple awards. It must be due to the hate Hollywood spreads towards cruises personal life. so sad. this film is one of the best dramas I've seen, from the story, the entire cast's acting, editing, directing, score, etc... it's without a doubt underrated.
