Love Island Games (2023)
Negative Outcome
I love Love Island and have watched UK, Australia and USA. This is a competition show with love. There are a lot of male gamers who are very cruel when it comes to the girls. It wasn't fun to watch. Celly laugh was too much and I wish most of the American were dumped from the island. This left a negative taste in my mouth. There are sore losers and a lot of trash talk. The good was Liberty Callum. The bad USA islanders. I'm embarrassed to be from the same country as Johnny & Co. I recommend UK and Australia Love Island. It's less abrasive and kinder in my opinion. I was disappointed in the Games. I think producers could have made if fairer. These alliances were ridiculous.
Fatal Attraction (2023)
I'm not usually a fan of remakes but .......
A different take on a great movie that scared many people so they never wanted to cheat. Amanda Peet is a favorite actress so I'm biased there but she is good. Lizzy Caplan (mean girls) is a terrific actress that I've seen many times since Mean Girls. Joshua Jackson sounds like George Clooney to be is also a great actor. Toby Huss who I wasn't aware of was a also wonderful to watch. One flaw when Amanda Peet's Mom is killed there isn't a big reaction from Amanda. I don't like remakes. But this being a mini series plus the great acting makes this a very good remake. I like the storyline of the daughter as well. This is definitely a solid 7.5 but because people tend to rate it's so low it's evened out.
The Real Housewives of New York City (2008)
snip to the new cast
The new cast is everything wrong with NY. Uber wealthy ignoring the real crisis in our city. Not that I want to see depressing things but there is nothing real about this show. Who is casting. Ramona was funny as well as the old cast. Snip snip. The Bronx the ramona runway the bad Louis Vuitton's boots Brooklyn Bridge Alex Simon. Angry tennis matches. Fashion shows with everyone angry. Jill needs a hobby. Scary Island. I'm up here while your down there. I'm in Brooklyn. Bethenny the cook according to Kelly. Kelly needs a bra. Bobby Zarin a sweet heart. Hamptons parties with everyone dressing crazy on purpose. Luann and Jovani.
Southern Charm: Suspicious Minds (2022)
Time for SC to end
It isn't good anymore. It was a season of watching grown men fight over nothing. Kathryn isn't someone I'm rooting for. She seems to be growing up and living life. The other girls are pretty boring. On the brighter side I've grown to appreciate Whitney and Patricia. I am glad Craig found love. Shep is like many men out there. Let him be single. Austen is just a ___ stirrer. Charleston is a beautiful city I'd love to visit one day. Naomi looks great but isn't strong enough to carry the show. I miss the younger Kathryn &Cam. They were funny. I even miss Landon. Thomas's crazy ex couldn't help the show either last season.
Emily in Paris (2020)
Fun show
I do not understand the hate for this show. It's a fun fake show about Paris. Sopranos was fake Beverly Hills 90210 was fake and this is fake. Not serious. Just fun and great shots of the city. Likable characters and one amazing singer.
The Office (2005)
Very funny
I watched this show years after it aired. I saw the fire cold opening and I couldn't stop laughing. I love this type of humor. I don't think it's for everyone. I really have no one in my life who watched this show. Maybe because I worked in an office and love goofy humor I love it. When Steve left it was still a watchable to the end but it was not the same. Steve Carrell is one of my favorite comedic actors.
Station Eleven (2021)
It's not like the book
Somethings need to be left alone. Like this book. It shouldn't have been made into a tv show. Read the book ignore the shows. Episode one was pretty good. The actors were good. But downhill after.
My So-Called Life (1994)
Such a good series.
I have to say it. I wish it wasn't canceled after one season. Ricky's storyline was done beautifully. The friendships and crushes were heartbreaking and wonderful. The parents relationship was complicated like in real life. Great actors in this series. I feel like your never too old to enjoy it. Imagine Angela and friends with social media. Now that would be fun to watch.
Joker (2019)
Joaquin is so talented
I typically do not watch the Batman movies. Not because they are bad, but because I am not into that type of movie tv or comic book. This I had to see. I have been a fan of Joaquin since To Die For where you are nothing unless you are on TV. My heart broke in this film for depression and for a life that just had so many hard knocks along the way. I would rate it 10 but the sadness took a toll on my enjoyment if that makes sense. But it's a great movie.
Contagion (2011)
Interesting and held my attention
I'm not sure how scientifically accurate this film is but that's not why I watch movies like this. It the fear that this could happen. That a virus could kill millions of people fast. Seeing Gwen P dead was freaky enough. Good solid movie maybe a 7.5.
Ojing-eo geim (2021)
Unusual and violent series
I enjoyed this series. The acting was great even with subtitles! I was immediately drawn into this series and the characters. I really thought this was going to end a certain way but it did not. If you love horror and I guess Saw franchise this is up your alley too.
Pitch Black (2000)
This made me a fan of Vin
This is the movie that made me a fan of Vin Diesel. I remember at first I was not liking the violence and every man for himself theme. Then I got to then end and thought I liked that movie. Then I rewatched it and thought I really like this movie. The ones to follow didn't capture for me what this movie did. I like Vin Diesel in these tough man with a tiny tiny bit of a heart. Also this movie was frightening which many movies aren't. And it's in a wAy that's subtle yet so disturbing.
Deep Impact (1998)
Great cast
This is one of my favorite end of the world movies. It has a great cast. I love Tea Morgan Mary and the other great actors in this cheesy disaster movie. I can't really say why I like it so much because it's one of those things with movies. I don't take disaster movies very seriously but they are like an amusement park ride for me. It started with the Poseidon Adventure and I'm always waiting for the next one to come.
Underwater (2020)
It was not the worst
I watch many horror sci fi movies from blockbusters to low budget found footage. This movie could have been great with special effects. I have mixed feelings about Kristen Stewart. I like her since she was a young actress but she has certain facial expressions that distract me. I don't think she is the type of actress that you can focus the camera close to her face without it feeling weird. You can zoom in certain actresses that can act without speaking. Just their expressions. I think she would do better in a ensemble cast. I definitely think this movie is about a 5 or 6. But I'm very tolerant of sci fi horror movies because there not many out there. I wish Kristen could get some acting lessons to help her not make the same expressions in every movie she is in.
Lucy in the Sky (2019)
Psychological drama maybe?
I am glad I did not see this in the theater because I thought this would be a movie about being in space more than on earth. Natalie Portman is a very good actress and plays the overachiever astronaut very well. This is a decent movie that could be aired on Lifetime Movie channel. Now I like Lifetime movies but if that's not what you like then this isn't a movie I'd recommend. Jon Hamm is the character he typically plays I don't think this was the worst movie but if I had gone to the theater and saw this I'd rate it very low.
Working Girl (1988)
Classic 1980s NYC secretary movie!
Being a secretary in the late 80s from Queens I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Plus I worked with some ladies from Staten Island who were stunning and had these strong NY accents. I loved it. Mellanie G at her best. Great cast and scenes of NYC. This is a movie that captures a moment in time. Probably wouldn't have been made today. Two woman in conflict. Too controversial lol. But it was spot on with the girl from the Burroughs going against the Manhattan rich boss. It is a fairytale come to think of it.
A Deadly Adoption (2015)
I loved it.
As a Lifetime movie fan I was thrilled to see these two funny actors star in a lifetime movie. I got the joke because lifetime movies all follow a similar formula. Having these two play along seriously with the formula made it even funnier. Who wouldn't want to star in one of these Lifetime movie dramas. This movie is not a serious critically acclaimed movie. I didn't expect anything from it. I just knew seeing these two actors in it was all I needed to be entertained. Who knows maybe Jodi Foster and Denzel Williams will star in the next one.
Bridesmaids (2011)
I love this movie!
This is one of my favorite movies. It is very funny while being very heartwarming. It really shows in a funny way the way female friendship can be. I related to the characters so much. The competition the love the jealousy and the fun of female friendships. This movie doesn't represent all female friendships but it definitely represents what I experience with my friends. The cast is wonderful and I wasn't aware of most of the actors and actresses in this movie. But after watching the movie many of them have become my favorites and enjoy following their careers. Movies like this don't come along often so I really appreciate this one.
No Escape (2015)
Thrilling Movie
A family relocates to a foreign country where Owen Wilson's character has new job. This is the story of how a family survives a terrible situation in a foreign country. They have to make some incredibly hard choices to escape from the violence around them. I watched this movie and thought what would I do if I was in this family's situation. Would I survive? I didn't care if the movie was politically correct because it is a movie. In the real world everyday there are horrendous things happening a lot worse than this. This was just a story of a family trying to survive. There were good people and bad people along the way. Just how real life is.
Lost in Translation (2003)
I've loved this movie for years
I saw this movie in the theater when it originally came out. I've probably watched it a dozen times since. The older I get the more I relate to Charlotte and Bob and even Linda! The fact that a young woman wrote and directed this movie is incredible and probably why I identified with so many little things in the movie that brought a smile to my face. The music is same i listened to yet the whole movie takes place thousands of miles from where I live. Scarlette is young and beautiful in this movie. You see her natural subtle beauty and Bill is perfect in his role. I think some people may not like this movie and I understand that but it stayed with me years after seeing it and is one of my favorite movies.
