What doesn't kill you (doesn't) make you stronger
7 August 2023
We all know "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger", but in reality in the matter of physical injuries that's just not how it works.

It appears the folks behind this movie didn't get the memo, and completely opposite reality, where you get disabled, brain damaged, etc. Demanding for SLOW recovery and rehabilitation because that's just how the body works, we here in the movie use the idea, that you get stronger every time you get hurt, and injuries are just something you have to work/train/exercise away.

This alone set the level of how much you have to polish your ability to suspend disbelief.

To enjoy the movie your ability to suspend disbelief has to polished and ready to use excessively from the start to the end.

I lost it completely when they came to Vienna; it's really almost an insult to the Austrian Police and military, to display them as completely useless and absence. It's the god damn capital of the country they intrude with paramilitary forces heavily armed including a chopper!

Fortunately they must have chosen to fight outside rush hour, as people are few on the streets compared to normally in a city this size, and they are also fortunately relatively okay with all the machine gun armed men suddenly spilling out of a bunch of cars.

If you sped all you money on the first half of the movie, maybe chose another city where it would make more sense....or the mountains.

I don't need my action movies to be intellectually mind boggling, but they do have to as minimum to have some logic for the viewer to get lost in for at least as long as the run-time of the movie. This one was a true struggle.

I don't remember the first to be mindless as this one. I generously give it 5 stars as the fast action packed pace ensured I wasn't bored. But it did make me talk about some of the nonsense while watching.

Amateurish...is this really from 2009?
11 January 2022
I'm not impressed. I can not find any evidence, that this series is actually made in 2009 and not in1996.

And why on earth start off with a British serial Killer, when you purposely have chosen to call it America's Serial Killers.

If I'm watching documentary, and I'm going to watch 30-50% old black and white movies cuts, it damn we'll have to be authentic materials...but no of course it isn't. It's close to nonstop clips from old (really old) movies, as it probably were cheap or maybe even free for the producers to use in the series instead of newer materials, etc.

Narrator could have a fine voice for narrating, but he comes off as amateurish and unnatural, reading up from manuscript he hadn't rehearsed.

At best this series can be called a nice try, but not something that was supposed to be launched on streaming world wide.

Wow the hate for KW
18 October 2021
KW did as she was expected to do. She played the character exactly as she was casted for. All the hate just show how great an actor she is. And yes you'll get to hate her, you're supposed to.

Great emotional show tying the knots at the end.

We can make a better story
10 September 2021
I really have a hard time with filmmakers who have the idea that they can write a better story than the author of the book, they wanted to adapt to the movies.

I get it, there has to be certain changes for several reasons as dramatic effect, etc. But this is not it. This is changing the whole premise of the story. It's changing the personality and life of the characters. This seems like just more of the same as first season, which is exactly what the book isn't.

I didn't agree with the all the changes in the first season, but was overall a good adaptation. This first episode of the second season is just an assault. I cannot imagine people who have read the book liking this season...and I'm obviously not able to make an completely objective assessment without comparing to the book. But should we? After all it is supposed to be an adaptation.

Silly in the right way
13 December 2019
I was surprised when I loved and laughed my way through the first 'new' Jumanji, but I was even more surprised, that I loved he second just as much. I felt the way into the game in this one was a bit fast paced and with a weak story, but I realized it was very suitable for the movie, fitting well with a nerd not managing to keep the self-esteem he gained in the first movie, when he's back to real life and it's struggles. The movie/game isn't only the next level, but also a new edition, where like all other games it will be with new adventures, new skills, etc. The acting leaves me convinced that they are the characters they are supposed to be, which I always find impressive in movies like this with identity-changes, or what to call it. I already felt it was close to far fetched to make this sequel, I was completely wrong, and I hope they make a third soon. All in all a great movie for both big screen and in the couch with a blanket.
