The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day (2009)
Watch for the second time after wears went by
I LOVED the first movie and had high hopes for the second. Such high hopes that I was sooooo dissapointed it went straight to DVD. Such high hopes that, when I FINALLY got the chance to see it, it REALY sucked. It did not meet my expectations at all. At that time, I would probably have rated this 2, MAX 3 stars. But YEARS later, seeing it again, with no expectations at all, knowing I hated it, it was actually quite good. Ok, it was somewhat of a copy of the first, and yes, the plot is quite weak, but it is surely better than the first time I was of. I would actually rate it lower than 7 stars, but I think I need to make up for some of the 1 star ratings. If you didn't hype this up for yourself, it is actually super entertaining and funny. Just let go of all expectations and try to see it as somewhat of a standalone. I will still watch the 3rd movie, but I will never watch the series.
Intrusion (2021)
My cat can write better
I started to write a review, but then realised it would be a bit less of a waste of time than this movie.
Go ahead and watch it. It will never be better than the first 5 minutes. What you do with this information is upto you.
The Grudge (2019)
Awfull at best
Not going to waste time here saying what was so bad about this movie. The best thing about this was the off button on my remote and the common sense in my head telling me that going to bed is a better use of my spare time than watching this crap. Good night all.
Salvation (2017)
No review, just an obssrvation
So, currently I am watching the first episode of salvation and now, after 30 minutes, I refuse to watch more. Is it bad? Probably not. Is it good? Doubtfully. What made me stop watching is really simple in not so simple kind of way.
Human race or human species?
The verdict is still out there. Are we, humans, a race (if so, racism becomes redundent....) or are we a species? I have read a lot on this subject and still can't come to a conclusion about that.
That being said, this show starts of by calling humans, human race. Ok, if that is the way you want to see humans, fine, no foul. BUT between 29 and 31 minutes in, they are talking about preserving the human species.....
Species and race are 2 different things. If y0ou choose one, stick with it, but do NOT use both for the same subject. I refuse to watch any further, based on this fact (while knowing the fact it got cancelled after season 2) even though I don't completely mind starting cancelled shows. Cancelled shows are usually somewhat of a waste of time, but I do not wish to invest mine in a show that messes up in the first eppisode, knowing it can only gat worse from here, since they didn't cancel it after season 1 with such a big flaw in the first ep
The Boys (2019)
Love the series, hate the accent
This series is just awesome, taking the piss of the super hero genre and doing this spot on. The only bad thing for me is billy butcher's ( karl urban's) wannabe cockney accent. Sometimes you can really hear the effort of him trying to be cockney, but most of the times it feels like aussie or new zealand accent. This, to me, is really irritating. I'm not trying to kick karl urban to the curb, it is not his fault. The director however, should have noticed this and should have pushed him more
The 4400 (2004)
Bad. Poorly acted and poorly written.
I have watched the first episode and about 5 minutes of the second. I almost switched it off within the first 2 minutes of the first episode, but decided I was to lazy to get up and since they have made 4 seasons, it is bound to get better. After the first episode I was really irritated with the acting and the writing of this monstrosity. The reason I was 5 minutes into the second episode, is because netflix automatically starts up the next one and I was still lazy, so it took me some time to get off the couch, switch it off and check IMDb. To my surprise I saw a lot of reviews claiming this is the best series ever and what not. I am truly surprised to see what bad taste most people have. No wonder shows like touch are cancelled. And because of this bad taste, I truly believe that Hannibal will not see a third season......
All I can say about the 4400 is STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE. And all I can say to people who really like garbage like this, stop f*cking up the ratings for good shows
Cassadaga (2011)
Bad "Stir of Echoes" rip-off
I really didn't like this movie.
It started off OK with some promise of an OK movie (never had the potential to be good though).
The first irritation was when the deaf woman started to speak. She spoke in a normal fashion, whilst deaf people tend to pronounce everything in a different way, because they can't hear what they say.
The story was slow and felt like a cheap "stir of echoes" rip off. At times it was confusing. They failed to get in a suspenseful setting and in the end, they have never explained where the voices the victims heard before they were abducted came from.
In the end, when Christian is about to kill the deaf woman, even he hears the voices. WTF... what was the point in putting these voices in, if they first help out this guy and then work against him and then leave us guessing what they were and where they came from.
I say, don't waste time on this garbage. You're better off watching Thomas the Tank Engine, that has more suspense and if makes A LOT MORE SENSE.
End of Watch (2012)
Pretentious and poorly directed
I have to say, when I saw the trailer, I thought this was going to be a good movie, but it fails miserably.
This is supposed to be a "found footage" movie, but there is a shot from the sky and there are a couple of shots from the rear bumper of the car, also there are shots when no one else and no other camera's should be there. For instance, when they have sex, this is being filmed AND the camera is moving while filming. This could mean that they were acting out some sort of fantasy, being filmed by one of their friends, or this is just really poorly thought out. There are A LOT of scenes (I honestly think at LEAST 10 % of all the shots) that are filmed by "a third non- existing party".
Also, they try REALLY hard to make this movie "bad-ass" but they really fall back into badly acted and irritating stereo types (especially the Mexican gangsters).
I don't know why I have watched the whole thing, probably just curious if they could salvage at least something in the end, but it got worse and worse.
Finally I also wanted to comment on the gangster scenes. WHY do both parties (the black gang and the Mexican gang) have at least 1 guy filming them?? What would these gangs have to gain from that? They probably did this so they could show you some scenes through the eyes of the gangsters, but they already have truly messed this up as I have previously explained by showing "regular camera work" so why bother giving the gangsters cameras if they could have just filmed them in the conventional way??
I am really sorry for the amateuristic way of putting this all down, but I am Dutch, not English and I am really tired, so I really didn't want to spend to much time on this, but I just wanted to spill my guts over this abomination.
Two thumbs down, not worth watching, waste of time and money. I really don't understand why this gets such a high rating.
Good night
That's My Boy (2012)
F*cking funny movie
Screw all those who hate this movie and talking about moral issues here, it is a comedy movie, it has NOTHING to do with reality.
In the beginning the young Adam Sandler gets seduced by his teacher, is she a pedophile? Sure she is, is it real? NO!! It was just so they could set up a really young father so they can create a hilarious movie. This movie never was intended to be serious, so all that happens should be looked at with a wink.
Was the acting good? No. Did it need to be good? F*ck no! The whole situation and setting is hilarious, now do we need good acting to laugh? Quite frankly, my opinion is that most no brain comedies are funnier when the acting isn't that good (OK it shouldn't be overly bad either, but this was just perfectly in between).
And all the weird characters gave this movie a genius boost (like the fat black stripper, the pretty boy jazz dancing incest having brother and such)
I would recommend this to anyone who is into movies you don't have to think, to people who like Adam Sandler, who people who smoke weed, to people who aren't stuck up, to people who don't pretend to be some genius critic, to people who just want to laugh.
I really don't understand all the haters and moral tree huggers here. This movie was just a good old hilarious laugh, almost non-stop.
I think, after Jack an Jill, Adam Sandler is back with this movie. When I go to see an Adam Sandler movie, I don't expect to be seeing great acting (even though I really didn't like Jack and Jill) I expect to see a hilarious over acted movie.
