The Marvels (2023)
6/10
FanFiction type of script
19 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The script was disjointed and very shallow. It felt very fanfiction-ish.

I guess the big issue is that I haven't seen, nor will I see disney's Ms. Marvel so to me this person had no character development. Sorry Disney but I'm not lining your pockets with every cent just to keep minor characters in play.

There was attempts at humor (Family of Ms. Marvel) but much of it fell flat or against, just out of place.

Outside of "Please stand still and let the Flerkins eat you", it didn't have much going for it.

Still I have seen much worse movies so I'll still give it a 6 stars.

Oh, and the most important thing, there is NO END credit scene. Only a midcredit scene, so you can leave 5 minutes earlier than most Marvel movies.

Fire Country: I Know It Feels Impossible (2023)
Season 1, Episode 22

Before this episode I enjoyed Fire Country, now it's crap
3 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I just finished watching my recording of this episode and the anger at the episode is just crawling in my blood, forcing me to write this review. I have enjoyed Fire Country and then this piece of crap of an episode came up. I can truthfully say that I will not be back for next season. An AG that forces Body to admit to a crime he didn't commit to allow someone else who was also convicted of a crime they didn't commit to get his just release? With just an opinion? The only thing that would have happened there is a major lawsuit, criminal conviction of the AG office lady and a nice financial settlement for Bode and Freddy.

Star Trek: Hallmark movie??
4 December 2022
This entire season has been a trainwreck. I don't mind emotions, but there is a time and place for the them and in the middle of a battle or harrowing situation with time running out is not it.

Michael Burnham is the worst starfleet captain ever. Has she EVER made a single decisive decision in the last two seasons? For a damn vulcan raised child she sure has WAY too many emotions and definitely let them interfere with her job and decision making. She can't do the critical thing or make the critical decision and has on more than one occasion made the absolutely wrong decision that she 'got lucky' it worked out.

Outstanding depiction of the book
14 November 2019
I love Nancy Drew (and the Hardy Boys). In my childhood I read them all, along with Trixie Belden and the rest of teenage sleuth type of books.

After recently watching the abysmal portrayal of Nancy Drew in a CW TV series I was hesitant to watch this movie thinking it would be another attempt to re-invent Nancy Drew, but I'm glad I did and I'm glad they didn't.

This movie IS Nancy Drew. This is the book Sleuthing teen brought into the 21st century and made into a film. Yes the plot is simple and light, JUST LIKE THE BOOKS were.

If you want deep, complicated, Oscar likely movies, then this is not for you, but if you have read the Nancy Drew Books and want to see those books portrayed on the screen, then see this movie.

Good epic story but a HUGE flaw
27 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The movie had an epic tale and fights and humor like you would expect in a Marvel movie....but

This is a spoiler

When the people are brought back, they bring them back 5 YEARS after they left and I presume they ended up in the exact same spot.

If 3.5 BILLION people were to suddenly materialize there would not be enough food, shelter or ability to deal with them. The entire world economy and welfare would self-destruct.

After 5 years many people would have moved on...married other people, moved away changed jobs whereas the people 'coming back' would have nothing since they would have probably been declared dead.

What about someone coming back into their old bedroom only arrive while another couple (who bought the house from the estate of the person who vanished) were having sex.

What about people who vanished from cars on the highway. Did they return only to be run down and killed?

That flaw ruins a good story for me. I expect a bit of stupidity in any movie to fit a script to a story, but this one was too glaring to deal with.

Very enjoyable movie
10 March 2019
I do not know what film other reviewers are watching, but it can't have been this one. I found Captain Marvel to be an enjoyable movie with the right amount of humor.

The movie had a strong message as well. It's alright to make a mistake or get knocked down, as long as you always get back up.

BTW the star of this movie was the cat.

Better acting in High School plays
10 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Between cheesy lines and stilted acting I am embarrassed that I paid money to watch this movie.

The film is supposedly filmed in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, yet there was not a single scene where the beauty is shown. The most you get is inside country stores and red brick buildings.

You have a 'highly trained' spy that can whip a gun out of a villain's hand (twice) and yet seems surprised and can't catch him when he turns and runs.

You have a tech guy, running downtown computer repair store who can determine within 10 seconds that a building is owned by 'a string of shell companies'.

And finally....this is only part of the story. There is no end, no solution. It's showing, when I can honestly say, I don't care to know how it ends.

Scripts are going downhill
6 August 2018
When the movies started, Aurora clues where usually ignored by the police which led to "believable" desire to follow them up in her mystery solving, but now she knows both the chief of police and the Mayor who both take her seriously. Yet the scripts still have her doing stupid things, interfering in investigations and putting hers and other people's lives at risk.

Come on Scriptwriters. Yes its Hallmark movies but at least TRY to use your intelligence and put together a movie that actually makes me want to believe in the main character instead of hoping she's arrested.

Well they have the same names
4 August 2018
But outside of the same names and names such familiar things such as the Oasis, NOTHING is like the book. Basically they took out all of the intelligent thought from the book and substituted video game action scenes for it.

BUT I am reviewing the movie so, I give it a 5 because it was neither very good, nor very bad; it just is.

The Orville (2017–2022)

It's just not that funny
28 October 2017
I have come to the conclusion that Seth MacFarlane is not that funny. At least his idea of humor not come within the same 'universe' as what I consider funny. I should have known better than to even try this show after wasting an afternoon and quite a few bucks watching 'A million ways to die in the West' which in my opinion was the absolute worst movie ever.

The premise of Orville is spectacular. Turn the Star Trek universe on it's head with humor. I could already imagine someone getting promoted to 'red shirt' position only to beg not to be because he wanted to live or something like that...but we ended up with 'The Orville'. Instead of good humor we get... sorry attempts at humor and Seth MacFarlane's ideas on social commentary (Episode 3 is where I'm left the show). I don't watch TV for social commentary, I watch it to be entertained.

Bad Teacher (2011)
2/10
Horrible
8 July 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I give it two stars only because I didn't get up and leave before it was over.

I found absolutely nothing funny about this movie that had a lot of potential. A dope smoking, lazy incompetent bullying teacher is the star of course. She lies, cheats and yet....she 'wins' in the end by destroying the life of a teacher who actually cares. Her greatest moment was giving her bra to a student.

I don't expect much from modern 'entertainment' but I do expect 'something'. Unfortunately I ended losing something...two hours of my life I want back.
