Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)
Different
Something is different here, it's not that high tech as the previous movies, it reminds me more of 007 flicks at moments. Ethan is more vulnerable and tired, Luther and Benji are merely there, Ilsa gone too soon. It also feels like an hommage to the first MI. The enemy is invisible but very dangerous, doomsday dangerous, Skynet dangerous, Gabriel is just an instrument and passes as a solid villain.
The action is as always fantastic, not too pretentious and exaggerated; I loved the falling train escape, made me bite my nails, car chases were also decent. All in all the movie misses that typical showing off which isn't bad at all, it was time for such a turn.
Fast X (2023)
OMG, there is more of this??
Family, family, family, shooting, driving, explosions, family. That's about it. We've seen it all already. They thought Momoa will bring some fresh air into the game, but he soon starts to be annoying. The action scenes are recycled, back in the days they would make me laugh and clap, but now they just make me yawn. Dom's got old and he looks tired, all this talk about the family made him so boring, he really looks like he needs a permanent vacation from all the action. And where the hell is Brian? Why not replacing him with another actor? I know it's hard for the crew but it's time to move on, i am sure whoever jumped into Walker's shoes would be a nice addition.
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous (2020)
How are they still alive?
I mean, i liked this show, don't get me wrong but the script is too far-fetched. Too much has happened to these kids, they have fallen too many times, they were dino food too many times but still managed to escape and survive, they were burnt, stung, bitten, bruised, hot, cold, hungry, thirsty, poisoned, some of their actions were pretty idiotic and then all of the sudden they become Teslas and Einsteins. But seriously, they have hit the ground from highest heights soo many times that it became cringey. And why the heck aren't grown-ups trying to save them, in real world an epic search and rescue would be in motion. All in all very imaginative.
Klan (2020)
Two little lowlife rats
No dignity, honor, class or respect, just two miserable fools in Gucci tracksuits who got what they deserved, hiding in the cesspool. Emotions aside, this is a brilliant show with some fine storytelling, memorable characters and unforgettable Guy Ritchie-like scenes which made this whole saga lighter and funnier. In a sea of serious and dark shows depicting criminals and their fellows, politicians here on the Balcan, this one is a real breath of fresh air. The music is so, so cool, I loved the solo jazzy drum riffs; rarely the score suits the whole atmosphere so damn well. Acting is brilliant, especially from the supporting cast. There were a lot of characters in the puzzle but they all fell into place in the end with minimum plot holes and maximum characterization. The first 4 episodes of season 3 were just fabulous with a lot of suspense and parallel actions; a narrative jumping between multiple hideouts was fantastic. All in all i enjoyed it very very much.
P. S. Sok i Pasa bili i ostali dva klosara i olos.
We Can Be Heroes (2020)
My kid is addicted
My kid watches it every day. I used to watch pieces whenever i entered a room for a short period and then i sat down and saw the whole movie. And it wasn't that bad actually, there are some nice jokes and interesting situations, all with typical RR visuals; just like in Spy Kids or Sharkboy and Lava Girl. I caught my 9 yr old crying the other day because he thinks he isn't much of a hero, like those guys. That's the movie's effect on kids. As far as i'm concerned i could watch Priyanka as a villain all day, every day. Other well known actors are a nice addition, one could tell they had lots of fun filming this flick with the kids.

Good fun
Just a bunch of great actors having great fun, and letting off some steam, both Serbian and Croatian. Jokes are legendary, internal mostly, political background present but not too heavy and boring, there are some memorable scenes, Dejo's cousin singing folk music while other members of the crew are fighting in the dust, is one of them; that was nicely edited and shot, and very funny. Yes, it depicted the beginning of the brutal end of the Yugoslavia but since we all know how that ended, why not make it funny as hell. Many consider it as a spinoff of the much darker and heavier movie Metastaze, there was no need for this movie to be as serious. This is one of those movies i will always watch when it's on telly.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Took my breath again
Don't listen to the haters. This is a movie about fighter planes, and the dogfights they are involved in. Just good old American action superbly shot. Everything else in the story is irrelevant as we all know the story. We don't need to know which country went rouge or what 5th gen fighters they have. We don't need to know more about the characters nor do we need their development. Feeding us with nostalgia instead worked for me.
Technically, however, it's a brilliant movie, the shots, the editing, the sound, made me feel like i'm in a flight simulator, especially when Mav stole the fighter to show that the mission can be flown; i even felt dizzy from all the left-right cornering in the canyon. Pure, 100% entertainment guaranteed.
Jedini izlaz (2021)
Very very poor
First of all, how did the main protagonist lose her memory and why? Second, where was her sister for the last six years? Is it possible they didn't see each other since the fire? What happened to Inspector Strbac, why did he shoot himself? What's with the ludicrous scenes of kid handling a gun? What's with the poorly shot climax at mom's country house, this was so badly executed, almost like a highschool play? Didn't Ana feel any remorse, she was responsible for the fire, in a way? Why the heck was Ana so familliar with the guy to whom her husband owed money?
Very incoherent storytelling, plenty of plot holes, ridiculous behaviour of the characters who are superficial. Some shots were well done but then that climax ruined it all. We have witnessed some short flashes of good acting, mostly from Ljubo Bandovic, others struggled with the weird script. I hate that this movie made me lose interes and that it made me totally confused; most of the time i didn't understand wtf's going on, nor did I care. The end was supposed to be cool, but it was just plain stupid with Ana hugging and kissing a guy who took her a million euros and made her a fake passport. And then she just left, with the smile, well dressed, with some newly found money on the off-shore account. And we should all be happy for her, for the lady who killed her abusive husband in an action that lead to death of 13 young people. So idiotic.
The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017)
Pretentious mess
Started off good, keeped me intrigued for a while and then it spiraled into a pretentious mess of idiotic behaviour, sinister music and show-off film making. Just like the Parasite, it reminded me of it. It would be so much cooler if they kept all the monotone and weird dialgoues and over-the-top shots but with a down-to-earth plot; i was hoping the kid used some poison that was hard to detect in the blood or something similar. This way it's just invisible, cosmic, karma ex-machina force just for the sake of the closest thing to justice (as the kid said). Parents' reaction to the whole situation was idiotic and unbelievable. Acting was good as it is always with these two brilliant actors, kids deliver too despite the aforementioned dialogues.
Many viewers are satisfied with the ending; i find it as moronic as the actions and the situation preceeding it.
Mare (2020)
Meh...
PTSD induced crying and sniffing the war uniform next to an ak-47 in a house full of kids. Seriously? Usually boring, wannabe social study, too many close ups, shots of the heads from behind. And there are always mountains or some rocky regions which show us how life is harsh there. And awful as ever sound recording and editing with all the efforts put into emphasizing heavy breathing of the characters with moral or psychological issues. And there's a love story with zero chemistry, but chemistry not needed as Mare uses the relationship with young foreigner as a form of escapism. Acting is...non inspiring...pretencious...non convincing. All in all, poor movie.
Late Night (2019)
The devil wears Prada...on TV
Although very similar to the movie from the title of this review, not nearly as funny. It's too much of Emma Thompson's character and just too little of the other. It's like there is absolutely no support from the other actors and the characters they are playing, they are totally forgettable, including Mindy Kaling. The whole movie, cast and crew were overwhelmed by the greatness of Emma who did it with half of her capacity but still did it good. The script is very dull, non-inspiring and non-shocking and the catharsis is so poorly developed and executed. I know it's difficult when a movie like this was already made and was very solid.
Mama i tata se igraju rata (2020)
Funny and moving
I laughed and almost cried, I recognized myself and many others i know in these well developed characters. It is funny, hilarious sometimes but always with good taste. Actors are fantastic and chemistry between them is so true and convincing.
It's a study of life with all its beauties and problems, wonderfully developed by Kicic, a feel-good show after all, with just enough sadness and melancholy to make you appreciate life even more at least for a moment after watching.
Pet (2019)
Very weird
It started good in the first 4-5 episodes and then it spiraled into a mess of idiotic, incoherent and unnecessary scenes, spiced up with some bad dialogues. The makers needed their mandatory 11 episodes, but could have easily squeezed it all in 5. Oh, yeah, Dimitrijevic playing a badass with the gun, i don't think so.
Ubice mog oca (2016)
Gets better with each episode and season
I almost gave up after season 1 but then things started to become interesting. I was definitely hooked til the very end. The thing that bothered me the most was Aca's relationship with women in his life, it was too much of a soap opera for such a serious crime drama. Acting was another thing that didn't work out for me in the 1st season but the improvement afterwards was huge, along with the whole scenario. Oh, yes, i just love when Marjanovic flips out and starts yelling, reminds of my dad, sooo authentic. And what a memorable scene with the fantastic Boris Komnenic, god rest his soul, i had to rewind it couple of times.
Besa (2018)
Realistic and brutal
Great production, solid script, good acting. Some scenes were not that convincing, especially taking the hospital and Rovinj. I loved the daughter's story, although very intense and brutal, it is the best part of the script. One can see this was a huge project and the show began to crack under its own pressure but somehow managed to deliver solid ending and room for more. Oh, yeah, nice twist with Hashim in his part of story, i kinda loved him and felt sorry for him.
Lada Kamenski (2018)
Terrible
Two stars because of a decent performance by Doris, as always. Typical pretentious Croatian BS. One of those movies that insults viewers intelligence.
Raised by Wolves (2020)
They all better start praying to Mother
Now that's a nasty robo-godess, nothing we've seen so far. I like her and hate her at the same time, she is a proper demon, deus ex machina and a mother. Ridley loves his androids that's for sure; he gives them powers, important assignments and just a touch of emotions to spice things up. Forget about phrases like "thought provoking" or "character development", this is purely about science vs spiritual where mr. Scott isn't taking sides, or is he... Everything is wrapped in a solid narrative, expensive production and some cool scifi stuff. And that Mother, boy that Mother...
Cetvrti covek (2007)
So so
Not bad but some of the shots are very unconvincing with lousy editing. The story itself is solid and the acting is decent. I didn't like Kojo pretending to be Rambo with the looks and coolness supported with the appropriate music. The scenes in the computer room and in the politician's house are ridiculous, especially with the kid and the water gun.
Westworld: Decoherence (2020)
Hope the hologram man goes down in the last two
I kinda want everybody to unite and take down Serac, along with his stupid ball. Then i want Dolores to f..k the rest of humanity up and go Skynet on our sorry asses. William could be left alive to enjoy the brave new world full of machines; he will have the Earth as one giant park, just for himself. The chaos is already present as Dolores released all that destiny data, and the only one who can right the wrongs is Serac, which I hope he won't. I loved William's monologue about humans at the group therapy, that's why i think he might help destroying us. Go machines!
Narodni heroj Ljiljan Vidic (2015)
What on the heaven's earth is this?
This movie is so, so lame. I didn't laugh at all and was embarrassed most of the time, and so were other moviegoers.
Toni Erdmann (2016)
A tale of what we've become
This is a great story about society today depicted through a (bohemistic) father-(corporate) daughter relationship. There are couple of memorable scenes which made me bitter laugh out loud. Singing Whitney Houston and an absolute climax at the naked party are some of the best scenes ever. Movie has this Lost In Translation atmosphere where the city of Bucharest is both a medium through which characters interacte and a catalyzer of awkward situations. The film questions family relationships (father senses that life his daughter lives isn't fulfilling), corporate world, cultural and language differences, and above all, society as a whole ("...people are strange when you're a stranger...").
Fantastic acting, smart use of real life people which sometimes feels like Borat and brilliant writing. Thumbs up!
Sorjonen (2016)
Weird
It tries to have that nordic coldness and simplicity but flops instead because it's filled with bad dialogues and non interesting, weird characters; Ofcourse they try to make it up with decent cinematography, but that doesn't help much. Since everybody is boring, screenwriter decided to go across the border in order to find excitement in the form of barbarian Slavics because that's what they do best. And yes, blonde mom looking for dughter is the only character worth mentioning. On the other hand, main character is annoying and dull, his colleagues are half idiots and the dialogues are ridiculous, or maybe it was bad translating. Someone said this is Finnish Sherlock, I don't think so.
Arrow (2012)
Tree Hill meets Batman in a soap opera
This show is ridiculous and unconvincing. Dialogues are awful, acting is bad and the script is insulting viewer's intelligence. Mother's secrets could have been a great show for itself and are, along with the island flashbacks the only reason I'm still watching. The bad guys and villains aren't scary at all, action scenes aren't exciting, some of the actors have a charisma of a cooked octopus when they're trying to be tough; that's actually funny from time to time. Absolutely the worst part are the relations between characters driven by kindergarten dialogues which are embarrassing to watch and listen.
