Shadow of the Colossus (2005 Video Game)
10/10
beautiful and epic
11 August 2010
The plot may seem a little slow to start, but it definitely picks up and is worth the time. I bought this on a whim, seeking a Zelda-esquire game, but it was hardly comparable to the Zelda franchise. SotC is extremely unique in that all you do is search for 16 colossi to fight them. I initially was bored with this game, but after the third colossus I started to really get into it. The graphics are beautiful (the entire landscape and each colossus looks amazing) and the soundtrack is truly epic. I have never heard such excellently orchestrated music for a video game before. Ever.

This game also evokes a ton of emotions from the player, and you would have to play to see what I mean. I also loved the bond with your horse, Agro. This game is such a masterpiece. My favorite game this year.

Super Smash Bros. Melee (2001 Video Game)
Better than the original, that's for sure.
26 March 2004
Wow. This game is so perfect. The animation is crystal-clear, the stages are fun, the events are good, single-player mode is entertaining, and the characters and the scenery is completely accurate. This was my first game for Gamecube. Then I got LoZ:OoT and oh my God, the characters were even better in Melee than in the original Zelda game! I mean, Zelda's hair and her dress were exactly right, Link's sword was on the correct side, Young Link had a Deku Shield (He's not supposed to shoot Fire Arrows, though), Ganondorf was exact replica and Sheik was a clone. Then I got Majora's Mask and oh my God, Great Bay was and exact copy! Melee had the pirates cove, the columns in the water, the canoes on the beach, the Ocean Spider House, the umbrellas, the cave to Zora Cove, EVERYTHING! I'm sure if the cameras could turn all the way around, they would have included Pinnacle Rock and the Dragon Cloud too. Aside from the accuracy, the game itself is wonderful. The characters are so well animated, their moves are perfect, their taunts are cute, and they look so...upgraded. Every bit of it is fun. There are different modes to play with, trophies, training, event matches, melees against wire frames, Classic, Adventure, and All-Star single-player mode, it's all perfect! So, to sum everything up, perfect animation, perfect precision, perfect characters, perfect stages, perfect fights, perfect fun. Your all-around perfect game! 11/10!

Sonic Adventure 2 (2001 Video Game)
Love this game!
26 March 2004
This game is awesome. I bought it after playing it with the kids I babysit. I wanted it for the Chao, the little creatures you raise and breed and whatnot, but the game itself is great. The music is cool, even Knuckles' rap songs (just because they're Knuckles), the scenery is awesome, the voices could be better (Sonic's voice sucks, but Ryan Drummond is officially Sonic so I'll have to get used to it). The mouths could move better with the voices too. The plot is perfect, the whole two sided story and everything. I guess I like it so much because it's the first Sonic game I've played. Others seem to like the first one better. This is a great game! 10/10

Not rated T as one may think.
30 January 2004
Great game. I would like to comment more however on a certain remark of which this game should be rated T. There is no real decapitation scene. You're supposed to just stab him in the head and you can't even tell. No one dies. Ever. Except you, but even then, all he does is fall over. He could just have been knocked unconscious. Doesn't look deathy at all. The "dead people" in the market after 7 years ARE MONSTERS! Not people! The Super Smash Bros. Melee trophy of Redead says they are magic created by Ganondorf and the residents had evacuated to safety. This game is soooo E. Very fun. Safe for little kids.

Warning: Spoilers
This game is so awesome. I read other comments and see people complaining "it's too childish", or "it has a lack of storyline", or "it's too easy, I beat it in a week". Well, I beat this game in under 50 hours and I still love it. I was only timing myself for fun after I had finished it many times before. There is nothing a true gamer wouldn't like unless they were purposefully trying to create excuses. The only thing I can find to even comment negatively on is the fairy, Navi, who can be annoying at times but is really only there to help. This game has great graphics, wonderful story and scenery, and good music. People also claim that the ending sucks. Well, they have to leave room for more games that this later one prequeled, don't they? *SPOILER* If Ganon had completely been sealed away for good and Hyrule had returned to normal and all the Hylians (actual word, not Hyrulians like so many think) were happy and safe again, that would be the end. Nothing could happen unless something entirely new happened, which as far as I know, only Majora's Mask has succeeded in. This game is, according to many posts, majority-wise the best of the Zelda games. Buy it, you must. A Zelda fan would. You won't regret it!

Worth a try

Warning: Spoilers
I love Ocarina of Time, but this game is growing on me. It's still a fun little adventure, you have more town activities than in OoT, more puzzles, more places to go, more stress, considering you only have 72 game hours (72 real minutes) before you have to save and go back in time. But one of the best things about this game would have to be the Transformation Masks. You actually turn into a super speedy swimming Zora with a skeleton guitar, or a spike-back Goron who rolls around at 80 mph. The sequence following the applying of a mask is a little creepy, but can easily be skipped with a press of A.

The basic story is Link is transported into the parallel world of Termina, which is under threat of its enormous moon which will destroy the town in 3 days. There are four temples to beat, 24 masks to earn, and numerous people for Link to save.

If you haven't played either MM or OoT I suggest Ocarina first, because it is chronologically first and all the characters in MM will have come from OoT. You'll also understand the story more this way. 9.5/10
