Nowhere (II) (2023)

Is funny how stupid this movie is!
2 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
What cell service is she using that allows her to make calls in the middle of the ocean? I'm interested because I barely get 1 bar in my apartment in DC.

If only she called someone else the first day, like 911, and they could have used the GPS location feature to verify where she was. She kept calling her boyfriend that felt very confident she would be saved but had no solutions...lol

Save yourself some time and fast forward to the end. Floating on 8 Tupperware containers was brilliant and she ended up living after drowning for 5 minutes in freezing water...amazing!

People giving this a 10 must be getting paid?

How is it possible there is so many 10 ratings? Way too many scenes of reflection and over the top learning lessons.

IMDb ratings really wrong on this one!
8 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Yes,awful! Pretentious attempt with the writing to appear sophisticated yet it was annoying within 15 minutes. The flash backs and music...ugh! The last 15 minutes just made me angry that I wasted my evening watching this because IMDb had a rating of 6.7. IMDb ratings are usually right on target but this must have been a scam of abusers submitting bogus stats.

If you watch this then review all the goofs to make sure they are accurate. I don't want to waste my time and even review it myself but there are a ton of them goofs especially with the locked doors....so easy to get out of the house in the end.....movie sucked!

Seemed disingenuous
10 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
I've studied North Korea and found her insulting to Westerners and N. Koreans. She never gets to the heart of the truth either via her actions, words or those of her cast, none of whom seem to really know quite what is going on. The cast reminded me a little like the basketball players that blindly followed Dennis Rodman into N. Korea before it was too late to ask questions…WTF are we doing here?

I found her disingenuous when she described on three levels the brilliance of N. Korean elite filmmaking. Through each point, clips of their work showed us films that had a feel of Oklahoma and Godzilla combined. She just wasn't believable and I don't think the N. Koreans were buying it either. She appreciated the strong roles women had unlike western films where women play roles only as girlfriends.

Spoiler: She did put to some things to rest. Nobody is starving in N. Korea anymore and America started the Korean War.

Better than those reviewed when comparing other works of Baumbach
16 July 2016
1. Writing/Acting? I think the writing really good and should keep you engaged. I don't know other Noak Baumbach's works but his fans seem disappointed with this one. Greta Gerwig character reminded me of Alicia Silverstone in "Clueless" and Lola Kirke is just adorable. Both leads were great as well as supporting cast. The writing combined with the acting made it enjoyable similar to movies rated 6.7 or 6.8 in IMDb.

2. Did it make me laugh? Just a little but I watched this alone. Greta Gerwig character gives you the most attempts to laugh.

3. Unnecessary, unrealistic components? Scenes from old boyfriends house was a bit silly and unnatural but not over the top. The good writing keeps it in control. You find no special effects of gimmicks.

4. Soundtrack? Subconsciously, I might be giving the movie higher ratings because the music put me in the right place. Subtle background songs that seem to have "The Cure" influenced in several scenes. There were other 80's tunes made it flow for me.

Cameron Diaz has only a few years left
10 December 2011
I like Cameron but I think she took this movie because her options are running out. The first review I read gave it 10 stars and said the only people who that won't like this are the cheerleader types because it portrays the "RAH RAH" charter in the work place negatively, Well, I'm not that type of person and the movie stunk. In fact the character portrayals were irrelevant because they were over exaggerated, not well thought out and couldn't be taken seriously at any level to be moved or offended. We've seen this movie 1000 times that takes several shocking sound bite scenes using language/behavior that they think is clever and edgy but in reality it's just old. It was poorly written and the only thing they had was Cameron as the headliner to make money. Unfortunately Cameron has only a couple movies at best left which is why she's cashing in when she can. All her movies are blending into the same character like in this movie and its getting old. We'll see!
