Bono sings great but gibbers on a lot .

Great visually , amazing songs , but bonos chatting becomes tedious very quickly . Still trying too much to be all theatrical with his characters , but at times I couldn't help but wish fast forward option was available .

The Affair: Episode #3.10 (2017)
Season 3, Episode 10

Started to grate with me at times .
11 November 2020
Great first 2 seasons , then as season 3 progresses even the most loved characters come across at times rather irritating and pathetic , Helen has always been a pain in the ass and more so this season , potential bunny boiler material , Whitney has always been a bit nails down the chalkboard , screech !! Hoping this improves after the twee season end .

Loved it , it's a story told by storytellers .
9 June 2020
I personally loved this movie , it was a Bob Dylan STORY. It was told in typical Dylan fashion , by that I mean you don't really know what to believe when he says something. He has always had a reputation for re inventing himself , he's a master at it . But I think that's the fun of this movie that it reflects his ability to bend the facts. The concert parts are great , I'd not seen much footage of these revue performances and so I found them fascinating. Dylan's recent interviews are good and he's not afraid to laugh at himself. There are some great sequences in this movie , favourites are Joan Baez breaking loose with some great onstage dancing , and also discusses marriage with Dylan , you detect some unrequited love there. I love seeing Dylan just having a blast singing different versions of older songs and really enjoying himself doing it.Love seeing him joking around with the band. To be honest there were parts I didn't particularly like , Patti Smith acting very incoherent at a gig , in other words she was high. Also the poetry readings by Ginsberg didn't excite me . But on the whole I found the film very enjoyable . And I'm saying this after waiting nearly a year to watch it , I don't have Netflix or the internet , so relied on the kindness of a friend to let me see it . Some people on here speak like they've been ripped off of $20 seeing this on the cinema screen , it costs pocket change to view it on Netflix , watch it again and just skips the bits you don't like !

Naughty doc shown on TV tonight , well made .
22 May 2020
This is a very informative watch , lots of detail , follows the career from simple beginnings to rise to stardom then a tragic fall. Great interviews and narration. Plenty of photos and clips from most of her movies. Showing on Together TV on freeview in the UK.

Does it really have to be accurate ? This is a MOVIE !
11 January 2020
Saw this tonight , thoroughly enjoyed it , an entertaining couple of hours . Stewart looked lovely , a true beauty , well acted , great detail in the fashions and good soundtrack . Cinematography was excellent . Wonderful images. Whether it tells the true story of Jean Seberg I'm not totally sure. But nowadays if you want to see an accurate account of stuff like this then watch a documentary or try wiki.

Rather pointless film with one major fault . And one pleasant plus .
11 June 2019
And that fault is that where it should be funny it just isn't . Watched this in a mixed audience and I think I could count the number of laughs I heard on one hand . Performances are good, though Mindy kaling is excellent, but others not outstanding , Emma Thompson is well just Emma Thompson , John Lithgow didn't need to be in it and feels wasted , his part didn't need a star , he was just the supporting husband character .... Overall this felt rather dated , kind of early 90's feel to it . A feature length film that felt like an episode of a TV series. People that are throwing in terms to describe this as a great addition to films that have a #MeToo voice are sadly mistaken . Maybe Mindy kalings character but thompsons character is uneven and at times just plain unlikeable and that's even after the enevitable change of heart scenes that are such a cliche now . I won't even mention the guys who play the show writers, all quite unpleasant but unfairly portrayed as such due to this being a ladies film. Think biased is the word I'm thinking of ??

If it's not your cup of tea then don't watch .
28 February 2019
Yes it's the same old partridge but thank goodness it is , it's funny , witty , immature and sometimes excruciating to see poor Alan trying so hard . Coogan has shown he has many strings to his acting bow and as a Manchester lad I'm proud of him . Even on Freeview there are plenty of other things that haters can watch instead , as for me I can't wait for the next one , Ahaaaa.

Take a chance , be surprised.
28 January 2019
Was late for 2 other films , so chanced this . No this isn't an Oscar contender by any means , but Nicole Kidman does play the part well , the make up is fine , it has to be as her face appears in close up every 15 minutes , staring out of the screen looking moody or tired. The flashbacks are confusing at first but get easier with time . It is overlong and not much happens , but there is action , 2 bank heists and some nasty beatings . If you want over the top stylish heists then rent HEAT . The best scenes are those showing Kidman looking convincingly younger .

Rather strange - hard to categorise.
1 January 2019
Found this to be a rather film , hard to categorise , is it a kids film or an adults film ? A grown man hangs round a wood with various stuffed animals , would have been better as a straight forward Winnie the Pooh film , the special FX for the animals is excellent and the acting Is very good . That said the only strange performance is Mark gatiss who could have phoned in his performance because he does his usual delivery of lines that is done in the same way no matter what he appears in , good actor but somewhat limited range in my opinion . Think they may have dropped the ball on this one or should I say popped the red balloon , bring back the animated adventures !!

Brilliant blu ray in the UK
29 December 2018
Now available in the UK on a fabulous Eureka blu ray release, amazing pic and extras . This IS classic jackie Chan action . The template for others to follow . His HK films are superior to his US films . Long before Rush Hour Jackie was making classics like this , great fights , amazing sets , Hong Kong Classic . If Hong Kong humour isn't your thing give it a miss , I'll bet Hong Kong viewers of USA movies think their unfunny so I guess it works both ways , I watched this again after many years , this time with an eight year son and we both laughed till tears came ! Haters shame on you , stick to your Steven seagal (seagull) trash instead . I LOVE THIS FILM *********

Great film till the "let's tie everything up really nicely" ending
5 September 2018
Fascinating and better than the trailer makes out . Was rather dubious as I've seen similar type social media films ie : Unfriended. I'm no techie so was rather fascinated by the concept and how it all came together. Loved the scenes where so called friends deny being close to the daughter then later posting statuses making out they were best friends to hopefully get Like's etc. only downside was how everything came together so well for everybody in the last 10 mins , also was a bit too sugary an ending for me , expected the last postings to be mwah mwah mwah .

Haters just calm down ... And grow up !!
26 August 2018
Wasn't expecting a masterpiece just 90 mins of laughs , got that on the most part , it's crude , rude , non pc , immature at times , but don't believe FlashCallahans 'review, there were many laugh out loud moments and groans in the cinema showing I went to . Just enjoy , yes it is like watching the third Inbetweeners movie , but if it ain't broke why fix it .

well made gritty prison drama
22 December 2005
I ordered this movie on Hong kong disc for a couple of British pounds so i wasn't expecting much. Needless to say i was pleasantly surprised, cause it was quite good. What i expected to be just another prison movie turned out to be a well acted drama with a few tender scenes. The film deals with police corruption inside and outside prison and how this affects the lives of the prisoners and their loved ones. The prison scenes are filmed in washed out colours as we are shown the cruelty and sadism of life inside, whilst the family scenes are shown in vibrant colours especially the nightclub scenes The story is your standard one of a man falsely accused trying to survive amongst the dregs of society. There are some comic scenes that are sort of hit and miss but thats HK movie humour, you either love it or hate it. The movie reminded me of Ringo Lams 'Prison On Fire' films and was well made without being fantastic. A movie that i would recommend to anyone who likes Wong Kar Wei's early films. Just don't expect a sleazy violent Cat III shocker. I will be watching this again soon.
