Pustaya tserkov (2023)
Interesting movie worth a watch
First review, hurray. Really good Christian themed movie. I didn't find it to be boring or sappy, (as most Christian movies seem to use the tactic of stirring up emotions but having no actual substance.) It actually had an interesting plot and I found it to be a good representation of things that could happen in real life with believable characters. Hopefully they will have this available with English subtitles. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Firestarter (2022)
The making of Firestarter
Editor's room prior to development of Firestarter:
"So has anyone here actually read the book"
Man raises hand
"Not read, but I've skimmed through it and made notes of the character names."
"Excellent. Great job. Thats about half the work done already. We have a tight schedule for this project. Do we know what happened in the first Firestarter remake?"
"There was a girl that had these pyrokinetic powers and made a whole bunch of fires."
"Great job Mike. Thats an excellent start. Steve, read the synopsis of the first Firestarter movie and then use the info to fill in some of the gaps in Mike's script.
"That wasn't my script I was just...."
*gets cut off*
"If you need anything to help pad it out a bit put in some CG effects. Actually, make sure there are some psychic powers or fires in every scene that has the girl or her parents. And for goodness sake, don't get caught up in telling a story. Nobody cares about that stuff anymore, just make sure there are plenty of special powers."
"So did you want us to start on reading the book then?"
*laughs*
"Read the book! What kind of time do you think we have on this project? That thing has gotta be over 300 pages. No. Forget about the darn book."
"I had a friend who told me there are several great scenes in the book. Some good laughs and great characters. This taxi driver who takes them from New York City to Albany airport for a dollar bill because he thinks its $500, and this Native American ex military dude who is actually like a psychological genius."
"I like the bit about the driver taking a $1 bill. Put that in there somewhere Steve. And this Indian fellow. Yes. Lets give him some special powers too. Alright this meeting has gone on long enough. We are now adjourned, lets get to work. And don't forget we can put our business lunches on the movie budget. Who ordered this wine? Next time make sure we have some quality grapes why dontcha."
The Man Who Invented Christmas (2017)
Brutal
In general modern filmography is in poor taste, but adaptations of classics are particularly miserably done.
It is not a representation of what anything was like in the age it is supposed to depict. Is a reflection of everything modern: attitude, entertainment, speech, only they are wearing different clothes. It really reminds me why I endeavour to avoid wasting my time with this kind of "entertainment".

All these series are too long
Adrien brody was great and single handedly held this show together. All these series now are dragged out so much and its not necessary. We have to wait for like 8 weeks to see all the episodes and they are just lag through. If they distilled the content and put it into 4 episodes it would have been way better. All these shows start great and then just get watered down and become boring to watch. Under the dome, liseys story, this.
Just make a few great episodes instead of trying to squeeze 10 hours regardless of what the story is.

Masterpiece
Best covid movie ever made. Suspenseful, creepy, and pretty worth a watch I reckon.
Låt den rätte komma in (2008)
Disjointed
As almost all modern movies they just tried to put as many 'things' in as they could in the time they had. There is no meaningful character development. There is no flow to the story.. its just a bunch of things happening one after another. They draw upon all sorts of content from the book but have no opportunity to expand it, so it makes no sense.
