Morocco is not Central Asia and Afghans look nothing like North Africans and Arabs
14 September 2021
French productions typically pick up a group of actors with North African and Arabic descent to portray Eurasiatic/Central Asiatic Afghans. This proves their complete laziness and ignorance about the country and the people they are trying to depict.

Also, how on earth could a Eurasiatic mountainous country like Afghanistan be reproduced in North Africa, tens of thousands of kilometers away is beyond comprehension and logics. Since when are Africa and Asia the same?

Why keep perpetuating this obsolete and ridiculous post colonial orientalist perspective ?

If I were an Afghan i would be disgusted and appalled. Imagine if Hollywood would pick up a group of Romany gypsies to portray ancient Vikings. Or if China makes a movie about ancient Franks and only picks up actors of Pakistani descent to portray french kings. That would be scandalous, right?

Well it's exactly the same with this cast when a Maghrebi African is portraying a Eurasiatic Tadjik or Hazara. Complete nonsense and clownish.

Excellent acting & compelling story
5 December 2020
I normally don't like Netflix movies but this one proved me wrong. And the negative reviews are a mystery to me. This film completely blew me away. I literally cried at the end. It was a beautiful story. Glenn Close and Amy Adams are phenomenal in this movie. Especially Glenn Close's portrayal of "Mamaw". I had no idea it was based on a true story until the end of the movie, which made it even more beautiful.

Unfunny, boring and pointless movie
25 April 2020
I expect this from Jane Fonda but it's disappointing to see Adam Driver and Jason Bateman play in this joke of a movie. I feel ashamed to say that I have watched this film. One star is too generous.

Don't get the hype around this TV series?
17 April 2020
I've watched 2 episodes and I can barely make it to episode 3. It's THAT boring. And I live in Europe, where this show is supposedly popular (according to Wikipedia). I don't understand the hype around this show. Too bad, because the narration in the first episode was interesting, as well as the story.

Stop with the accents for the voice-overs!
14 April 2020
The subject is interesting, but too bad that the people being interviewed were dubbed. Doing voice-overs is already bad, but adding ridiculous accents to them makes them even worse.

A failed TV-movie
11 April 2020
Amateurish movie. If I were the actor and actresses, I wouldn't put it on my résumé. And I feel so bad for Phylicia Rashad for being connected to this movie.

Tyler Perry is a big name but I've never seen a good movie or TV show with substance and depth with him nor by him. He's completely overrated and this movie proves it.

This film felt like a reenactment of those crime TV-shows. Netflix must be desperate for productions.

I'm so glad I'm not American
10 April 2020
If this is how the justice system + prison system looks like in America, then it certainly beats the system in any random torturous third world country. The prison guards are behaving worse than the brutal wardens in Evin prison in Iran who tortured and massacred political prisoners, right after the revolution between 1979-1988.

This show is not only humanizing criminals and making us feel sympathy for them but it also portrays them as victims or political prisoners.

Cult classic
12 June 2019
Michael Jackson's Thriller is still the most iconic mini movies of all times. It isn't overrated untill you realize it was produced back in the early 1980s and is still popping, even in the 21st century.

RIP Michael Jackson RIP Rod Temperton (songwriter)

Not including Pedrad was very disappointing
16 February 2015
As an avid SNL fan since my teenage years, it was a very pleasant experience to revisit those old skits and see familiar characters on SNL.

I laughed a lot, especially at the opening skit with Celebrity Jeopardy and at the very end with Wayne's World.

Dennis Miller and Victoria Jackson weren't present at the reunion and it is perhaps because of their radical political engagement in the far right. I believe that Lorne Michaels and the majority of the former and present cast members wouldn't appreciate working with individuals with bigoted views. So it is understandable.

However, I don't understand why former cast member Nasim Pedrad was not included? she was a talented and memorable comedian.

And that is exactly why I give it 5 stars out of 10.
