Homecoming (2018–2020)

I Really Wanted to Like This One.
26 January 2019
I am a huge fan of Mr Robot. I feel like it's one of the best shows on air today alongside Game of Thrones. But this? This is garbage. This is one of the most pretentious shows I've ever seen. The whole time it is style over substance.

I don't mind shows that make me think. I love things like Black Mirror, Westworld, and as previously mentioned Mr Robot. This didn't make you think, but it gave the feeling of acting like it wanted to make you think.

The Office: Secretary's Day (2010)
Season 6, Episode 22

This Episode Perfectly Explains Why I Hate Erin
14 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I have never been a fan of Andy on The Office even after multiple watches of the full series. So of course the one guy I hate would be paired up with the one girl I hate.

I get it, the character of Erin was made to be innocent and childish because of her bad past as an orphan......but come on.....this is pathetic. This whole episode just shows off how terrible of a character Erin actually is. She is in her 20's and she doesn't think that it's possible a man in his 30's could have dated/been engaged to someone before dating her? Seriously.......

She throws cake on a co-worker in the middle of the office, she buries her face in her hair and groans in the middle of a restaurant, and she asks Michael some of the most awkward questions possible like "How many pillows do you sleep with?"

I don't mind cringe humor. In fact some of my favorite lines in this show are cringe humor. But, there is a fine line between a cringy joke and a completely cringy episode.

The only reason I am giving it a 4 star is because the Kevin/Cookie Monster story line was actually pretty enjoyable. Though sadly it takes a back seat to the worst couple in cable TV history......I miss Jan/Michael......

Heartbreaking
21 September 2018
White Boy Rick differs in lots of ways from most gangster style films of today for one reason. It's mainly centered as the name would imply around white people. This is a movie about a white kid in Detroit who is going through a life just as hard as any black child in any other film like this about crime and gangsters.

The cast of this movie is incredible. As someone who comes from a broken family it is very spot on with the way particular story threads work out. These actors and actresses were all cast for good reason. They look the part of white trash, play the part of white trash, and make you feel like you're watching a white trash family fall apart.

This is NOT a feel good movie. I feel like most of these bad reviewers went in expecting a movie about how he was caught early and the bulk of the movie would be him fighting the system. This is not the case. I believe that's why the film is struggling. If you enjoy hard to stomach stories of loss and betrayal this movie is for you.

This Film Deserves All the Praise it's Getting.
16 August 2018
I saw this film the day it came out and was absolutely blown away by it. This is the second film I've actually went to see in IMAX this year on the second viewing. Go see this movie.

**IMPORTANT** You need to watch the last two movies (Ghost Protocol and Rogue Nation) to understand this plot completely. Also if you have time it's a good idea to watch the first three films aswell.

The Meg (2018)

Worst Dialogue Ever.
16 August 2018
Honestly this film has not only the worst dialogue of any movie this summer/year. It is the worst dialogue I have ever heard in a bad movie ever. Deep Blue Sea, The Shallows, and Jaws 3 all had better dialogue than this cliche title.

The Room directed by Tommy Wiseau and this movie go hand and hand for some of the garbage lines and pacing. Halfway through this movie when it appears to be over, I wished it was finally over, however I knew that there was no way they would end it there.

Save your money. This will be streamable in 4 months and on sale for $15.

Steve Jobs (2015)
10/10
This shows the man behind the myth.
15 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
There are lots of people in the world who we consider to be famous. For some reason a mass grouping of people think that famous individuals live their whole life infront of a camera. This movie is proof they do not.

This movie has some really amazing star power behind it from Danny Boyle leading the helm as director to Michael Fassbender in the title role and actors like Kate Winslet and Seth Rogen in between. However, the star power in this movie is lost in the absolute magnitude of story this film provides for you.

Not once in this movie did I find myself watching as Steve argued his way through life and thought to myself "Man, Micheal just doesn't look right." Or "This is an awesome movie." Instead I found myself saying things to myself like "I hope Steve and Woz don't end up ripping each other apart" and "Don't let go of Lisa, Steve".

There is absolutely no denying the huge shadow that Steve Jobs left on the world. If you approached 200 people just randomly on the streets and asked if they knew Steve Jobs, they would say yes 99% of the time. Everyone knows Apple. Everyone knows the MacBook. Everyone knows the name "Steve Jobs". However, they don't know the true story. This is that story.

On the technical side this movie knocks it out of the park. The sets are fantastic, The music is spot on, The lighting is perfect, The props are great, etc, etc, etc.

Definitely check this film out if you haven't. Even if you aren't an Apple fan. This isn't the story of Apple. This is the story of Steve.

Deadpool 2 (2018)

Perfect Superhero Comedy
14 June 2018
There are a few things that I had a problem with in the first Deadpool movie. 1. The jokes were completely over shown in the trailers. 2. The cast and crew had little chemistry in the lack of overall story. 3. The story felt forced by the studio as if to compete with other Marvel Franchises.

This movie has none of these problems. Here is how it fixes them. 1. The first 2 trailers were not even about the movie. The Bob Ross and Cable introduction trailers were hilarious and genius in their own right and gave away nothing about the story at all. 2. This movie has a fantastic crew that is natural around one another within the honestly perfect story. Josh Brolin plays off of Ryan Reynolds with no effort needed to be any less than great. The romantic elements in this movie hit hard. The X-Force crew is more of a joke than a plot point. Overall the story finds its place almost immediately and just rolls with it. 3. Someone finally looked at Deadpool and decided that the safest place for it to grow is in the hands of its crew and cast rather than the people at the head of the chain. Thank god.

I've seen this movie 4 times and I'd gladly see it again.

An Incredible Film in Size and Story
3 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I want to start off this review by giving each and every person who reads it some advice. There are 3 things you must do/understand for this movie to be fantastic.

1. This movie is titled "Avengers Infinity War" not "Black Panther 2" the amount of reviews I have seen that slam this movie for it's limited time in Wakanda with the cast of Black Panther is absolutely daunting. Black Panther got a movie two months prior to this film. It is absolutely OK for a movie to not focus solely on a character that just got their own 2 hours of fame.

2. If you haven't watched the other MCU movies leading up to this film I ask you a simple question. Why even go see this movie? Sure, you know who Captain America is because you have a crush on Chris Evans or yeah you know who Black Widow is because you have a crush on Scarlett Johansson. However, that does not mean you truly know/understand the story or characters going into this film. you absolutely at bare minimum need to watch 1 Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Avengers, and Guardians of the Galaxy movie before going into Avengers Infinity War.

3. There is going to be a part two for this movie. Lots of the blind hate I am seeing for this film is that the ending "Ruins Everything" and half of these people dont understand that next year we are getting Avengers 4 (which no one knows anything about btw. Its all just speculation at this point.)

WIth that out of the way I can now start my review. Also be warned, there are spoilers in this review beyond this point.

Avengers Infinity War is a nonstop ride from the first scene all the way to the final end credits sequence. Lets break this film down by the story lines of the characters involved.

Tony: For years Tony has been cursed with the knowledge of the upcoming doom for the team. After his last minute decision to throw that missile into the portal in New York six years prior, Tony has had mass PTSD. In this film there is a two year time jump since the events of Captain America: Civil War. Pepper and Tony are preparing for their wedding when he is visited by Steven Strange where he gets a crash course on the Infinity Stones and a visit from Bruce Banner, whom he hasn't seen since Age of Ultron. Tony and his team are trust into battle ending with Steven, Peter, and Tony all on an alien U.F.O. headed to Titan. Tony's big moments comes when he is fighting Thanos one on one and he realizes that the mad titan knows him from similar visions before he is stabbed in the gut with his own blade. However, he survives to the end.

Steve Rogers: Captain America is back in a sense as the new character Nomad. Cap doesn't act on anyone's authority other than his own. This doesn't stop him from coming back when his team needs him. Steve's real purpose in this film is to introduce Wakanda to the rest of the team after his time there after the events of Civil War. Steve also survives.

Thor: This film opens with Thor watching as Thanos kills his brother Loki with a neck snap and his best friend Heimdall with a blade to the heart. When we next see Thor he literally crashes into the windshield of The Guardians of the Galaxy. Thor soon separates from the majority of the team alongside Groot and Rocket to go to Nidavellir to forge a new hammer after his sister destroyed Mjolnir in Thor Ragnarok. Thor reveals his past to Rocket in one of the movies most heartfelt scenes (Which also shows that Chris Hemsworth and Bradley Cooper make a fantastic on screen team). Thor is 1,500 years old. He has killed at least double that amount. He watched his Father, Brother, Sister, Mother, and Best Friend die. His girlfriend left him. His original love interest was killed along with his team. But, he is ready to become the man he needs to be for those he loves. After a quick eye patch up from Rocket and discovering the star he forges his weapons at has gone dark Thor does what he has to for the weapon to be forged almost killing himself in the process. Once Stormbreaker is forged he goes back to earth just in time to help Steve and his team win in Wakanda. Thor survives as well.

Peter Parker: Poor Peter is in this movie only to become an Avenger and then die. However, Tom Holland absolutely nails his role in this film. Also the Iron Spider suit is completely badass and honestly worth the price of admission alone if you're a Spider Man fan like myself.

Peter Quill: I completely understand what they did with Star Lord in this movie, They showed he was insecure and impulsive. However, in doing so they make him seem more like a whiny child than a grown man, which after a few scenes becomes a bit too much. Peter's one good scene is with Gamora when she is taken by the mad titan himself on the planet Knowhere. Chris Pratt did all he could with the script he had, but it just wasn't enough for me and is a reason this film gets a 9/10 instead of a 10/10. I just didn't care when he died.

Gamora: Possibly the character that grows the most in this film is the daughter of Thanos, Gamora. Throughout the movie you learn of the secrets Gamora has kept such as the location of the Soul Stone on Vormir, Gamora is a broken woman who in her final moments before she is sacrificed by Thanos for the Soul Stone as instructed by the surprise comeback of Red Skull as the guardian of the stone after he was sucked into the portal at the end of the first Captain America movie.

Vision: The most important character on earth is The Vision. He has a literal Infinity Stone in his forehead. After Thano's Black Order tracks him down in Scotland he is saved by Captain America and taken to Wakanda so that he can have the stone removed so that his lover Scarlet Witch can destroy it given that her powers literally come from the stone itself. This doesn't work out which leads to Wanda having to kill the man she loves in a heartbreaking scene before watching as he is brought back via the Time Stone and killed once more by Thanos giving him the final Infinity Stone.

Thanos: I have been saving this character for a reason. There are very few villains in movies that reach this level of excellency. This is Marvel's answer to Heath Ledger's Joker in Batman The Dark Knight. Josh Brolin is a fantastic actor. Not only did he pull this role off seamlessly, he also was a perfect Cable in Dead Pool 2 which released a few weeks later. Thanos is smart He predicted the death of his planet and proposed a mass genocide at random of half the population in order to save the lives of those remaining. When his planet Titan fell into death he waged war on the universe hell bent on receiving all six Infinity Stones so that he could wipe out half of all life. He destroys the Nova core for the Power Stone, He kills Loki for the Space Stone, He kills The Collector for the Reality Stone, He is given the Time Stone as a peace offering from Doctor Strange, He kills Vision for the Mind Stone, and he sacrifices his favorite daughter Gamora the only person he loves for the Soul Stone. In the end he is stabbed in the heart by Thor, but not before he can snap his fingers and literally wipe out half of all life in the universe. The film ends with him sitting on his porch watching out over a grateful universe just as he predicted.

All in All I am happy that i've seen this film six times and I would go back in a heartbeat to see it a seventh.
