Lame ending to a boring series
29 July 2023
Though I'm not a fan of recent Marvel movies or TV shows, my hopes were high after watching the trailer. The expectation of a good spy thriller was shattered in the first episode itself.

The show is bad overall. Writers failed to come up with an engaging script. Even the dialogues seemed off with no emotion or genuineness.

The guy who played the main villain did his job okay. Emilia Clarke was fine as well. Samule L Jackson tried but couldn't save his character from bad writing.

This series probably has the most fake action scenes in a Marvel series. How could the director just waste the characters such as James Rhodey and Everett Ross like the way he did. Climax leaves us totally unsatisfied.

Kantara! - Divine! Legend!!
9 November 2022
What a masterpiece! Overwhelmed, exhilarated, elevated ... I can't describe in words how I felt when I left the theatre.

Basically an action movie, the plot revolves around the fight for land between the villagers and the rich antagonist. Rishab Shetty wonderfully blends this theme with the folklore/ myth from Tulunadu, where he hails from.

Rishab Shetty should get all the awards for his performance, especially in the last 20 minutes. The role demands a lot of physical acting and he pulled it off extremely well. All the actors did justice to their role. Kishore also deserves a special mention.

Technical side, everything is just fantastic. The music, cinematography, choreography, fight scenes.. congratulations to the crew for this amazing work.

PS: Kantara is one of such movies which should be watched on big screen. When I write this review the IMDB rating for this movie is 9.1 after 64k ratings. I expect some average reviews once it's available on online streaming platforms or when it telecasts on tv.

Filmmaking at it's best!
27 March 2022
SS Rajamouli has created a cinematic masterpiece this time. Wholesome, marvellous, heart pumping, overwhelming- I don't know which adjective can capture the emotions I felt while watching the film and afterwards. Thank you to the entire crew for giving me a once in a lifetime experience.

It's a fictitious story based on the backdrop of Indian independence struggle. The movie has a running time of close to 3 hours. However there is not a single moment that takes your focus away from the screen. What a well written screenplay. Regarding technical aspects, SSR, at this point is challenging himself proving again why he is one of the greatest present day film directors. The background score by Keeravani deserves all the awards exist in that category.

Nothing upsets people more than truth
14 March 2022
This movie should be watched by every person in the world. Of all the atrocities ever happened, the Hindu genocide on Kashmir would be the least discussed and deliberately ignored. Time has come to both acknowledge this cold massacre that happened in India and also to ensure such a tragedy will never happen again.

All the actors have done their part extremely well, special mention to Anupam Kher's performance. The technical crew deserves applause for their marvellous job amidst all the challenges. Hats off to director Vivek Agnihotri for the courage and determination.

There are strong pressure from the religious fanatics, congress and left parties to silence this movie (and the subject). It is not even released in many theatres across the country. If possible do watch this in theatres. No soul would leave the theatre without wet eyes and a shattered conscience.

Hridayam - straight from the Heart
25 January 2022
Congratulations to Vineeth Sreenivasan and Team for creating this masterpiece. It's hard to get a satisfying movie experience nowadays especially when it comes with high hopes. Hridayam has done that smoothly and delivers even more.

Hridayam is a drama following the life of Arun Neelakandan (nice shoutout to the iconic Mohanlal character) from his college days til becoming a family man. His relationship with collegemate Darshana and his friends and how the campus affects his life forms the crux of the first half. His journey as a matured adult is presented in the later half. Pranav has done an amazing job as the protagonist. Many shots reminded me of a young Mohanlal. All the actors - Darshana, Kalyani, Aju and the fresh faces who acted as Arun's classmates deserve praise for their performance.

The movie is relatively lengthy. But the writer-director shows his mastery by presenting it without boring the viewers for a single second. The movie can be considered a musical- with songs filled throughout (I think around 15 songs) but all fit well with situation.

I highly recommend this movie and I guarantee that Hridayam will give you a wholesome feeling. Many scenes will definitely stay in your heart for days after leaving the theatre - some that will make you smile and some that bring tears.

Simple beautiful movie
18 January 2022
After a long time, watched a good malayalam movie in theaters that can be enjoyed with whole family. Kudos to writer-director Vishnu Mohan for proving that good thrillers can be made without over the top action scenes and punch dialogues.

The plot revolves around Jayakrishnan, a mechanic from a small village, how he is caught in the middle of a land deal, and the struggles to sort out alll problems. The positives are excellent script, awesome direction and fantastic performances by all actors. I particularly liked Saiju Kurup and Sreejith Ravi's acting. Heroine doesn't have much to do but delivered a convincing performance.

Coming to the music department, songs are not super catchy but fits well with the situation. Climax background score was good.

Dexter: New Blood: The Family Business (2022)
Season 1, Episode 9

Perfect Penultimate Episode
4 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It was worth waiting for all these years. Revival of an acclaimed series about world's favourite serial killer turned out to be nothing less than a masterpiece. And I'm glad that this miniseries is now headed to an intesne nail-biting finale.

There's a lot happening in this episode. Including the much awaited moment when Dexter finally opens up to Harrison. The whole scene is amazingly setup and well conceived showing flashbacks of one of Dexter's old 'adventures'. Wearing his classic killer outfit along with the iconic dark, humours narration, it reminded me just how much I missed the original show.

I hope the writers of the show will give us a great ending in next episode. Don't know if they have any plans for season 2, but I definitely want another season.

Awesome movie. Don't miss this experience in theatres. Not spoiling anything but if you are a Marvel comics fan, you're in for a treat.

There are many appearances and references from previous Marvel movies and tv shows. So I suggest you do a quick recap before watch this.

Dexter (2006–2013)
10/10
One of the finest TV shows with the worst finale!
17 July 2021
Maybe I shouldn't give it 10 stars because the ending of the series is the worst (after GoT of course) and I found season 6 just mediocre. But otherwise this show is just perfect. And the protagonist, Dexter Morgan- a serial killing psychopathic anti hero, is surprisingly the fictional character that I can most relate with.

Seasons 1-5 and Season 7 are among the best things ever created for television. It has everything- humour, family drama, brilliant acting, excellent writing, haunting soundtrack and a wonderful cast. There are many thrilling moments in every episode and they usually end on a cliffhanger. Dexter is a good choice for binge-watch.

Even those who haven't watched Dexter might be familiar with the premise since it's one of the widely discussed shows. Dexter Morgan is a unique character in entire fiction played amazingly well by Michael C Hall. He also delivered probably the best voice over narration in tv show history. All other cast have acted so well such that I can't imagine them in any other roles. Deb, Batista, Masuka, LaGuerta, Lundy, Doakes, Trinity killer, ice truck killer.. damn, the show had too many strong characters.

I highly recommend this show to anyone who is looking for a good crime thriller series. Perhaps you want to skip the finale and just wait for season 9 to release.

Everybody lies!
13 July 2021
The writers of House MD deserve all the awards exist for TV shows. I have seen many series that started off great but declined as the show progressed. House MD is the only show that consistently entertained me for whole 8 seasons. If you are new to the show and looking for a binge-watch guide on House, I can't recommend an episode that can be skipped let alone a complete season.

Hugh Laurie! What can I say? I can't imagine another actor playing Dr. House, a misanthrope cynic and a genius diagnostician. All the main characters have an amazing story arc and distinguishable personalities. Hats off to the cast for doing justice to the well written script.

House MD is in my list of top 5 shows of all time. And Gregory House is among the best characters ever created.

Best episode so far
30 June 2021
After an underwhelming 3rd episode, Loki comes back with one of the best episodes ever in tv shows history.

Owen Wilson is awesome. I really liked the music in this episode. It blends well with the scenes. There are back to back twists. You will be so involved in the plot that 50 minutes seems like 5 minutes.

Petition for season 3
13 June 2021
I absolutely enjoyed this series. There are not a lot of characters or sub plots like other tv shows and that makes this series gripping.

Hayley Atwell is brilliant. Actors who played Jarvis, Ana, Sousa, Howard Stark, Jack and Dottie Underwood were amazing as well.

I don't know why the show got cancelled. Marvel should have made season 3 showing the events that lead to formation of SHIELD and their initial cases.

Drishyam 2 (2021)
10/10
One of the best sequels ever
11 May 2021
Script is the hero here. Well done Jeethu Joseph for the taut and almost flawless writing. Mohanlal amazes us again with his subtle yet powerful acting. I can't imagine another actor who can pull off this character with such ease. Meena and Murali Gopi shine in their characters too. Support cast is just ok- sometimes their acting feel amateurish but it's understandable as most of them are new actors. Music, cinematography and editing all compliments to the flow of the events.

It is never easy to make a sequel to a highly successful movie that rises up to people's expectations. But Drishyam team has done it! The final 30 minutes will surely keep everyone on the edge of their seats. A must watch for thriller movie fans.

Complete Entertainer
21 April 2021
This movie is 100% what we expect from Priyadarshan- Mohanlal combo. A fun film with romance, action, good songs and some evergreen situational comedy scenes in the backdrop of a love triangle.

Priyan has shown his craft right from the first shot. The title song takes us to the fictional Sreehalli village and we remain there till the movie ends. The cinematography is by K V Anand (in his debut), for which he won the National award. Some of the frames are untouchable even today with all the technological advancements. Production design by Sabu Cyril is also amazing. All songs were superhits and are still very popular.

Mohanlal is brilliant as always. Nedumudi Venu, Shobhana and Sreenivasan have also given stunning performances. Overall one of the best entertainers in Malayalam.

The Priest (I) (2021)

Average movie
14 April 2021
Watched after hearing few good reviews. I found it strictly average. Mammootty's screen presence couldn't help the weak writing.

The twists are very predictable. Manju Warrier's character is an extended cameo. Could have been given to some other actress. In fact no actors had any chance to perform a memorable scene. I don't know what was the intention of Saniya Iyyapan's role.

Director tried to make a James Wan style movie but ended up with a mediocre script with lot of cliches.

Brilliant and Beautiful. There will never be a better finale!
13 April 2021
This is my first time writing a review/ opinion on any platform. I watched this final episode last month and I'm still in awe. Definitely the most satisfying ending to a series I've watched so far (yes I've watched Breaking Bad and Friends finales). The characters will stay with you forever. And the last 10 minutes is probably the best thing ever happened on TV.
