The I-Land (2019)
Without a doubt the worst series online at the moment
Terrible plot, makes no sense at all. Not one single character at all that you want to like. Horrible acting. I rated this a one because a zero is not an option. Do yourself a favor and go watch, hell, I don't know, absolutely ANYTHING else. There is no question, there isn't anything worse than this online at the moment.
Black Sails (2014)
Don't let your kids watch this
This is full of nudity including full frontal, and sex scenes. There is much adult language and very graphic violence. Don't let your kids watch it.
Beyond that it is a great pirate story with an intriguing plot. Great costumes. Mostly shot on land with amazing sets. I started watching the first season somewhat skeptically, and found myself binge watching to the end of season 4.
The scenes actually shot on the ships are amazing. Plenty of action, plenty of intrigue. There are characters you will love, and those you will hate.
Da Vinci's Demons (2013)
I wanted to like it
I tried really hard to like it. I lasted about four and a half episodes.
Poorly written to the extreme. Extremely poorly acted. Poorly directed. Not even close to historically accurate. An amateur production at best.
This is basically the crap that Hollywood throws out today because the kids coming into Hollywood these days don't have a clue, or even a proper education.
(Any education received at the public level these days isn't "proper". 12th graders can't make change.) I guess that those of us who are used to quality productions can expect junk like this from now on.
Queen of the South (2016)
Personally, think it is excellent
Great portrayal of the drug trade, but more importantly of an amazing woman. Plenty of action, and great behind the scenes stuff that lets you know what leads to the action scenes.
Found it interesting that one scene supposedly shot in Phoenix was actually shot in Texas, at a little cafe where I frequently eat breakfast, just a few blocks from my home.
Mr. Robot: eps2.4_m4ster-s1ave.aes (2016)
Full tilt stupid
Already wasn't caring much for season 2, although season 1 was pretty good. This episode was little more than full-tilt stupid. I'm done, won't be back.
I'm Watching You (1997)
Certainly not for the kids
This movie probably deserved an NC-17 rather than the R rating it received. Not much is hidden. No male nudity beyond bare butt, but the women are all full frontal, frequently with labia shown. Little plot, but there is nudity every few minutes. If you're here for the story you're in the wrong place, but if you like naked women, including female masturbation and seeing the whole woman, you're in the right place.
Blackstone (2009)
Wanted to rate it higher
Great story, well acted, well written. Believable sets and locations. Enough intrigue and sub-stories to keep things interesting. Politics, corruption, and the struggle of the underdog. All good stuff. Then it falls apart because of the camera work. Every single scene shot with shaky hand-held camera and jerky zoom. The end result is a production that looks like it was professionally cast, written and produced, then turned over to a high school class with a cheap camcorder to film. Oh, the shots are clear enough...once your eyes adjust to the constant jerking around. There is a place for hand-held shots. A few of them, scattered here and there, can be a great thing. But for the entire production? Please. Invest in a tripod and a trolley.
Kill Zone (1993)
Why must every Vietnam war movie portray Americans as bad?
I wanted to like this movie. In fact, until the last 15 minutes I did like it, for the most part.
It had its faults. Movies that use a lot of guns, even B-movies like this one, should hire someone that KNOWS something about guns to coach the actors. At the minimum, actors should be made aware of the concepts of muzzle and trigger discipline. They should be taught how sights work. These characters are frequently seen with boogerhooks on bang switches and pointing their guns at their buddies, and they mow down enemy relentlessly firing without aiming or even shouldering the weapon.
Because of that, I wanted to HATE this movie, but the acting wasn't that bad and the story was compelling. As B-movies go, it was much better than average, and certainly worth a watch.
We have a team sent on a secret, an unauthorized mission, and they accomplish it. Then we have a commanding officer show up and massacre the indigenous people who made it happen and assisted its success.
What started as a decent action-adventure war flick degenerates into just another left-wing presentation of how BAD America is, and those who serve Her.
