Road House (2024)

Hugely disappointing and terrible CGI
22 March 2024
I was quite excited to watch this after some of the promo interviews the cast have all done together. They all keep saying how they feel this film does justice to the memory of Patrick Swayze.

The film starts off promising but has confusing fight CGI which is hugely apparent to the eye. I'm unsure as to why this decision was taken to go that way when a standard fight scene would have worked much better.

The casting is clearly forced and that's all I will say on that. After 15 or so minutes the story deteriorates with some pretty poor dialogue.

Conor McGregor did reasonably well in his acting debut and literally just plays himself which makes it fun. However, there was no need to keep constantly smiling which, in my opinion, kills the authenticity of his acting. Overall he did make me laugh at times. His character could have had much better dialogue.

I can't say much more about this movie as it was utter rubbish and probably Jake Gyllenhaal's worst film in a long while.

Is it worth wasting 121 mins of your life watching this crap? I don't think so. Sadly, it's a huge flop, and it does not do the original film any justice whatsoever.

Strong performance by Crowe
9 April 2023
Having not seen a decent horror surface for a long time, I was quite excited to go along and see Crowe's first horror flick.

It says "inspired by Vatican files" so I'm not quite sure how much of this film is factual but It's your typical possession story. However, Russell Crowe plays a solid and strong performance which makes his character very likeable and most importantly believable. I also liked his characters sense of humour which Crowe played very well..

Lot's of cliches, although it was a good watch but not very scary. The special effects and CGI for the most of the movie were very good but it did struggle during certain moments. The depth to the plot was good but I feel the other characters could have been stronger.

Overall, this is a good movie and Crowe carried it very well. I'd recommend that you go if you like this genre.

Am I missing something here?
2 April 2023
What is all the raving about with this movie? I felt it lacked a decent storyline and was 2 hours and 35 mins of fighting while the remaining 10 or so minutes was acting.

The usual far too long fighting scenes where he does his usual MMA moves by getting the enemies head between his legs while he reloads his gun and shoots him the head.

For me it was at least an hour too long and could have been much shorter. The storyline was very weak and after such a long gap between this and John Wick 3 I am surprised it was written better.

I also have no idea why this review has to be a minimum go 600 characters?

Yes we.

Total and utter trash
5 September 2022
Oh my - I have seen some bad movies in my time but this one is in a league of its own. I checked it out due to Bill Murray and Frank Harper who have done some great films but this was a joke.

Wooden acting, terrible editing and an abysmal script make this one of the worse movies of the year

Jeanine Nerissa Sothcott is an embarrassment and looks as plastic as a real life version of Lady Penelope with dark hair. One of the oddest actresses I have seen with all that botox but she did have reasonable baps. I am not sure though why she had to be half naked in that scene?

Overall dont even bother.

Paranormal Craptivity

What this had to do with the original PA films is beyond me. It has no resemblance to them at all and it should be just labelled as a standard "B" horror movie. Too much running around with aimless screaming.

Grays character is so wooden and pathetic
18 June 2022
The wooden acting of this guy is beyond sad. The whole storyline is just beyond belief and if I could give this a zero I would. Unbelievably grim.

I wonder where they go with this Soap? Its a shame they dont add a real good storyline with Phil Mitchell and some nasty villains. Bring back Grant!!!

"Terrible Trip"
16 June 2022
Wow, this was just terrible on so many levels. The wooden acting on the opening scene is awful and initially I switched off just after that scene. I then went back to it the next day and gave it another try and with all the cliches, lame storyline and poor acting it is by far one of the worst films I have seen this year.

Ant where art thou?
8 June 2022
The new Chief instructor is an absolute idiot and is far too animated to take seriously. I could tell Foxy and Bingham were looking at him like he was a muppet.

Sorry but without Ant this is no good, the series has stalled and its better to call it a day.

I have no idea why Foxy wasn't made Chief Staff?

I am torn...
27 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I am torn with this movie. Yes it was an enjoyable watch but I scratch my head a few times as I just don't know if there should have been a sequel.

Lots of cliches like being saved at the very last minute etc. Also, flying low between a valley to drop bombs down a hole reminded me of the Death Star scene in Star Wars, even the words "Stay on target" were used LOL

For me the character of Jennifer Connelly didn't really have much meaning and I felt the character was just thrown in as a filler.

I will just say it's a good movie with action and the new generation will like it. Definitely a fine moment for Mr Cruise.

SAS Australia (2020– )
3/10
What has this degraded to?
12 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The original SAS which was aired in the UK was pretty good until Ant left. He then took it to Australia and the first couple of series were good but this has just degenerated to soft garbage and lame challenges, with some of the women getting preferential treatment.

They should change the title of this to 'Ant's Military Bootcamp' or something as there is no way this can be compared to SAS selection. On the latest series in episode 1 they have a tiny little fame on their backs to immediately run into water? How the hell is that SAS standard of selection?

I am not sure where Foxy has gone but the show is weaker with his departure. Ant has tried to bring in a Navy Seal but the lack of personality in the instructor weakens the show even further.

Time to give the one up Ant. This course has run its course!

Interesting interview style from Stone...
21 February 2022
A very compelling and informative series of interviews where you get a good insight into Putin. A lot of people say he is a villain, cannot be trusted etc. But he is just more open with his views. You cannot honestly say the Americans are angels and he is a monster. The American's just try to cover up everything they do whereas at times I feel Putin wears his heart on his sleeve.

Not quite sure about Stone's style of interviewing, I actually feel at times he was disrespectful and had no idea how to or who he was interviewing. Quite often he would turn away from Putin and talk to his translator, almost turning his back on Putin at times. For me this is poor interview technique and in some parts you can see Putin looking fed up with this. You do NOT interview the interpreter, you talk directly to your subject no matter who he is, its basic interview 101!!! This annoyed me a lot which made Stone as in interviewer lose credibility in my eyes.

I wish a great philosopher like Noam Chomsky, Jordan Peterson or Sam Harris could have interviewed him as this would have been stunning viewing, because they would have come at him from some amazing thoughtful angles.

One thing you will do after watching this and that is come away having an increased respect for Putin, well at least I did anyway!

A Violent Man (2022)

A man conflicted
8 February 2022
When I watched this at first I had mixed feelings. As many say it is indeed just a movie of a man in his cell and I wasn't blown away with it at first. I was expecting mayhem and extreme violence but it has nowhere near the intensity of Foot Soldiers, Villain, etc. So I sat on my thoughts and watched it again a few hours later.

Having watched it the second time around it came across totally differently. I would say it's some of the best acting Fairbrass has ever done and he went deep into who this character was and played him very well as a violent psychopath, yet a man who also thought deeply about what he had done, questioned who he was, and tried to understand the man that he once was and who he had become. One minute he was a 6ft 4 yeti psycho yet the next minute he was caring and compassionate. He really saw himself in his cellmate which calmed him in some ways. Ultimately did his demons take over or was it his care and compassion? Very deep indeed!

I found it a very moving, dark psychological movie that made you think and I would say it's a fantastic movie.

For those who complain I suggest you drop the expectation of violence and watch it again. This movie will truly get into your psyche and make you think.

Fairbrass has shown it's not all about non-stop violence and he has seriously raised his acting game.

Started off ok...
10 January 2022
But sadly spiralled into a budgeted blue screen drama. Some flawed plot lines and as stated before, a pathetic attempt of political correctness by the officers being lesbian. It had no relevance to the storyline, if it had then no problem but it was obvious it was thrown.

Good thriller
20 December 2021
A good thriller but the story line does go back and forth sometimes which affects the fluidity of the film.

I am a big fan of Sean Bean but I have to admit in this film he is a lousy fighter considering he is a special agent! His character makes serious rookie errors.

Just going stupid and almost seemed a lame comedy
13 November 2021
A truly riveting and amazing series but in this episode every cliche in the book was thrown in and it was almost a comedy.

The episode was totally ruined but the lame scenarios that happened. I wont give away any spoilers but once you watch it you will understand what I mean.

Great flick!
31 October 2021
You just gotta love Fairbrass for his portrayal of Pat. I know the story behind it all has a sinister side but some of the lines from Fairbrass were funny as hell. The Honey Monster with his side kick had me in stitches too. Having said all of that Fairbrass is the man who makes this flick.

Great entertaining movie.

Blood, violence and swearing all over the gaff!
31 October 2021
Why so many negative reviews? I absolutely loved this movie and the performance from Fairbrass was outstanding.

Just enjoy the movie for what it is, lots of violence and some very funny scenes.

Worth a watch.

Much better than his usual B movies
31 October 2021
I started watching this movie as I was bored on a Sunday afternoon. Apart from the recent "Origins" flick I was expecting this to be the usual Fairbrass rubbish but I must say I was wrong.

Yes, yes it has a cliche plot and some of the characters are wooden but I think Fairbrass put on a good show for this one and it was full of the usual swearing, blood and gore.

Overall one of my favourites from him. Well done Fairbrass!

Abysmal
29 October 2021
I managed to watch all four episodes hoping it would get better but sadly it deteriorated with every episode. As the saying goes, this is time in my life I will never get back.

Apart from the nice scenery and houses that's all you will get that's pleasant. The acting at times is pretty bad and the plot which could have been played out much better ends up being hollow and weak.

Just another version of the Office and Extras but still funny
29 October 2021
As said in the title of the review this was The Office and Extras but in a different guise. The usual awkwardness and looking at the cameral with people being silent etc. You know how it goes.

Having said that, I still found it very funny and of course, having the super stars appear helped it a lot.

Still enjoyed watching it.

Bad acting and poorly executed plot.
28 October 2021
I had high hopes for this when I read the plot, so I sat down excited to watch it the other evening. Well... how disappointed was I? The acting at times was pretty bad which is surprising and some of Angela's scenes were painful to watch due to the amateur performance.

The storyline had good potential but was very poorly executed. Sadly this is 3 hours of my life I won't get back.

Average at best
7 June 2021
I'd probably rate this as the worst one of them all. A couple of scary scenes but a lot of cliches and a slow pace for this kind of genre.

I want to say more but I am kind of lost for words at how boring I found this. Not a bad effort but I think its time to put these sequels to bed and stop.

Utterly Dire.
25 May 2021
I cannot believe this movie even shares the same name as the excellent first one. Its a mess with no direction at all and nowhere near as scary.

The acting is not even 'B' movie standard its like a 'F' Its' like a local real life amateur drama class made this as a small project. The acting is beyond belief with how ridiculous and wooden it is.

The ultimate horrific tragedy is that this is time in my life that I will ever get back again.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Fantastic gangster movie.

I am totally confused as to why this lost so much money? I loved it.

Non-stop ruthless action and Afflect's performance I felt Oscar worthy. Definitely one to watch!
