Egg (2018)
A Very Odd Film
This is an odd film about motherhood.
Tina is a successful artist who invites her long time now-impregnant rival Karen, along with both their husbands, for a visit.
The film tries to imitate the amazing "Who's Afraid Of Virginia Woolf" (1968) but instead of having the complex, multi-layered and fascinating character of Martha, we get Tina, and instead of witty, absurd philocophical dialogue we get almost two hours of painful passive agressive behaviour that leads nowhere.
The characters never become real, and the plot quickly becomes a bore. It always seems like the plot is trying to get somewhere - but never does.
That at least until the very end, when the film was finally abouy to get to a climax, only to end in a cliched way.
The film is not necessarily awful, though. There are some moments of joy and tension, even some pretty funny jokes. Sadly, they are not enough to make up for wierd narrative and the poorly written characters.
Six Feet Under: Everyone's Waiting (2005)
Best Ending I Could Have Possibly Asked For
I fell in love with 'Six Feet Under' from the very first moment. It was my comfort and my refuge in bad days, it was always there for me when I needed it. Each episode filled me with life. About a year later, after I took my time slowly, digesting every episode separately, getting exposed to the characters and falling in love with each one of them, I came to the last episode ready to finish the journey.
When I started watching it, I was ready to see something good. Every review out there praised it and called it one of the best series ending, but knowing it should be so good, I thought I could only be disappointed.
But, I was not. This episode brought together all the loose ends, and with its unique style and atmosphere brought the long and exciting journey that we were part of in the last five seasons to it's end. And it was such a beautiful end.
This episode had me crying for ten minutes straight after I've finished it. The only thought I had on my mind was that a journey this powerful could not have ended in a more marvelous way.
Six Feet Under is the best thing that I could have asked for my life. The beautiful, haunting and sometimes hard journey I had with the Fishers during those five seasons taught me so much about my life. However, what makes this journey be truly worthy is the final episode is the ending.
If you are reading this to know if you should watch the show, just like I did, my answer is yes. Do it.
You will never regret.
