Dracula 2000 (2000)
8/10
Saw this in the theater 20 yrs ago, still holds up today
21 March 2021
Yes, it's another Dracula movie. But not a Dracula movie in the way some reviewers thought - straight to DVD. No, this was released in the theater, and Wes Craven fans like myself paid to see it.

I decided to watch it again, feeling nostalgic when I saw it as an option. It holds up. Gerard Butler, Jonny Lee Miller, Nathan Fillion, Christopher Plummer, et al., there were some big names of the day in the film.

It's a fun ride and a decently fresh take on the Dracula story. It's not meant to be a cinematic masterpiece, it's a Dracula movie. Better than most and the main characters don't have to fake their British accents....

If you like the genre, it's worth a watch. It holds up pretty well even after 20 yrs. - the soundtrack is amazing as well.

So totally worth watching...

No spoilers, but if you saw the first movie there are significant differences, as in it's a different movie altogether. This cut makes more sense and actually tells a great story. Four hours is a hell of a commitment, but Snyder has the film neatly parsed into chapters, so if you can't commit to half a day in one sitting.... turn it into your own limited series. It's worth the time.

Are there issues? yes Do they ruin the enjoyment of seeing the film? no.

Seriously, if they had put this out in the first place WB and DC might not have gotten the flack they got for the ultra-edited film.

Great premise, not great delivery

The premise is great, the acting is awful.

I wish I could say something positive about the acting. Eric Roberts and Michael Madsen were cartoonishly bad. If I thought they were going for campy, it may have been entertaining.

The Boys: Proper Preparation and Planning (2020)

You are So Beautiful to me
20 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This show is always over the top... but the scene with Kevin (The Deep) and his Gills (perfectly voiced by Patton Oswalt) duetting You are So Beautiful is certain to be a top ten scene from this season.

This show never seems to surprise me, until the next episode. As a 30+year comic fan, seeing it taken to this level is refreshing. While I love my Avengers, and Justice League, I hope that if they were as ever as rotten as the Seven, I hope there are Boys for them too.

Excellent and Unsettling
27 April 2018
It was a great movie, but if you hadn't seen most of the previous films, you might feel like you don't know anyone. There is so much action, it's almost an overload. I would have preferred a bit more character interaction. I understand the limitations the filmmakers were dealing with; but it was hard to feel invested in the characters; I brought my investment in from previous films. Ultimately it felt like most everyone was in a cameo role.

That being said, if I were not aware of movies yet to come, I'd need therapy after seeing this. I give mad respect to everyone for keeping the important things a secret. Only spoiler I am going to drop .... 4 will definitely be a continuation, otherwise this one makes no sense.

Final analysis, totally worth seeing.... but emotionally exhausting.
