Gotham: Red Hood (2015)
Talking about Red Hood, Alfred and Selina
This episode, Red Hood, was quite interesting. The origin of the gang that gives name to the episode was one of my favorites till this moment because I think that makes a lot sense. The fact that initially the gang "helped the people" makes the future entrance of Gotham's citizens in the gang very coherent. And I think the scene where a random guy gets the hood from the floor and wears it amazing!
At the beginning of the series, the bad-ass Alfred was very different from the previous versions to me and that's why I did not like the character. However, the series has progressed and the butler has appeared more and the character became one of my favorite ones thanks to the same reason that I initially didn't like him. In this episode became clearer the background of the character. Moreover, David O'Hara plays his character very well, although he has some no- sense scenes, like the fact he suddenly starts to train Bruce without a reason. My complaining about Alfred'story says about what happens in the end of the episode. OK, getting Alfred in some danger is necessary because thanks to this, we can see some cool action sequences. However, please do not do this trying to get some emotional reaction, because we know that the character is not going to die in the series: he will still have a very long life beside Bruce.
There is one subtle thing in this episode that is very interesting: Barbara's attempt to make Selina Kyle a more vain girl and the attempt to make the girl use his beauty as a weapon. I have one positive and a negative about this. The positive is that is necessary to get Selina in the reality that female beauty can be a weapon, because in every media that the character appears, in addition to use martial skills, she uses the beauty and sensuality, things that our little Cat Woman still haven't used. Then this characteristic of the character can start to be developed in order to Selina become a true femme fatale. The negative says about something that I always complain about the series: everything is too interconnected. Every origin of the villains are connected to Jim Gordon. Because of this, the fact that the person who showed her was Barbara, even in a subtle way, bothers me.
About Fish in this episode, I just have two things to talk: I hope the referenced doctor turns to be Hugo Strange and that scene where Fish rip off her eyes was very bad.
Nightcrawler (2014)
Jake Gyllenhaal and the final sequence make the film!
By the theme and the opinion of the public, I thought this movie would probably be one of the best movies of 2014. However, I think this movie is just 'good', what is a surprise. No doubt the criticism of the media is something memorable and that will make most people who attended think otherwise in relation to journalism and the media.
Surprisingly, the movie didn't captivate me. About Jake's job, it was really a great performance, snubbed by the Academy. I could make a link between his performance with Cumberbatch's in the Imitation Game, because both worked very well in a unusual personality, not just in the lines, but also with the gestures, the way they move, among other things (I am not being very successful in explaining what I mean). I would say that Jake's performance is better than the Michael Keaton's one in Birdman and it is probably better than Bradley Cooper in American Sniper (I still haven't watched the movie, but I don't take a lot of faith in Bradley Cooper in this movie). The performance of Rene Russo is also really good, even though I think that her character isn't very good. I also like very much the performance of the Lou's partner.
Till just before the end of the movie, I would give six stars. But I really think that the final sequence, where the character Lou stalks the murderers, is EXCELLENT. The scene of the pursuit and what this results is, in my opinion, the best part in the whole movie and thanks to it, I give seven stars.
(That's my first review entirely in English, so I apologize for possible mistakes)
