Mistress America (2015)
Boring Waste of Time
I didn't think the main characters did each other any favors. I never saw Greta Gerwig in a film, so I don't know if this was her usual manner of acting -- I thought the girl who played the college student was a better actress although both of them did a lot of mumbling and a lot of what they said was hard to understand. The story, to me, was totally phony. I was hoping that the characters would become real at some point, but the plot just got worse and worse. I would definitely not recommend this film since I thought I could have spent my time on a better and more well-written script with more chemistry between the characters. This was a flop for me -- sorry.
Here Today (2021)
Heartfelt Movie!!!
I enjoyed this movie so much. I can't remember the last movie that made me laugh out loud and also cry. The chemistry between Billy Crystal (who has always been my favorite) and Tiffany Haddish was superb. Ms. Haddish is kind of new to me but this will not be the last movie I'll want to see with her in it. The supporting cast, especially the actor who plays Darrell, were also excellent. If you want to come away from a movie feeling good about the power of human friendship and relationships, I strongly recommend this movie.
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life (2016)
They should have quit while they were ahead
Horrible jibberish -- sorry I wasted my time. The original series was so good that I can't believe they went out on this sad note.
Once Upon a Time in... Hollywood (2019)
Classic Black Comedy -- LOVED IT!!!!
Thank you, Quentin Tarantino, for this movie -- I found the end to be so incredibly funny (in a kind of sick way -- can't beat that). Brad Pitt was excellent as was Leo DiCaprio but I have to say that the dogs who played Brandy (especially the one in the last scene) stole this movie -- I have a newfound respect for auburn pit bulls who eat "good food for mean dogs." BRAVO!!!
Common Knowledge (2019)
Breath of Fresh Air
This show, in my opinion, is quite a classy game show. The host, Joey Fatone, is a true gentleman and does not need to act ridiculous. The "common knowledge" is something helpful that most of us could use in our everyday lives. I think this is one of the best new game shows.
This Is Us (2016)
LOVED THE SHOW -- NEW SEASON NOT SO MUCH
When I first started watching this show, I thought it was one of the best I had ever seen on TV. It had a blend of old, new, emotions, life experiences, etc. However, I have just started viewing the newest season and I am quite disappointed that this show is trying too hard to reach out to every important issue in life. I believe they are making a big mistake by going on "OVERLOAD." These problems all exist in every day life, but if you try to focus on a few of the problems instead of all of them, I think it would make a much larger impact on the audience. Sorry, but I am starting to lose interest.
