Ranbir Kapoor's introduction as a "superstar" in the film initially raised skepticism for me. However, as I reached the halfway point, it became evident that he truly deserved the title.

One particularly striking scene involves Ranbir, who, after discovering a mole, compels the individual to lick his shoe as a bizarre demonstration of love. It's a level of intensity reminiscent of something Quentin Tarantino might appreciate.

The season opener is a banger. Cate visits her father's place who is no more and she opens the door to find out that her father has been cheating and there is another mom and son who claim to be his family .Cate doesnt care much but a godzilla evacuation drill makes her go into the apartment and finds a secret locker that their father has been hiding.
In the opening scene we see john goodman throw a kind of bag into the sea while battling monster. This bag is found in Cate's dad's secret locker. They find out its about some agency or government kind of thing called " monarch " .
In another timeline , Cate's grandmother is in search of some isolated place , that government has kept top secret. Cate's grandmother finds Dino eggs and She's obsessed with it to take some samples and she gets down from the top by rope.
The episode ends on a note that eggs eventually crack , little monsters pop open and she couldn't make it back to the top.
The episode ends on this scene. The Major highlight of the episode 1 was Cate played by Anna sawai. I have not seen her anywhere , she's so good. Kurt Russell's son Wyatt , he is good too. So the story is setup perfectly, the glimpse of big kaiju in the flashback scene is perfect. Kaiju kind of kills a bus full of school students (not purposefully tho) . I hope they keep it this dark lol. I hope they show the impact of what happens when the monster is let loose.

This movie is targeted at a specific set of audiences. 1) Nic Cage fans, 2) HORROR COMEDY FANS 3) COMIC DRACULA LOVERS 4) Silly gore lovers. This movie tics all the boxes with a superb arc for the Renfield character and nic cage gets to be nic cage as he was in the 90s. This was so very nic cage of him to do. Nic don't worry, we will get you that Oscar. This is by far his best performance in the last 5 years . We get a vibe of face/off nic, and that's fine considering the movie's tone. It's a comedy at the end of the day with the heart in its proper place. Ben Schwartz was underutilized, yes, but this cast had so much fun behind the scenes, it's clearly visible. Shohreh Aghdashloo plays a hot mafia mom and that's enough . Even nic cage kisses her hand lmao.
This is just lgtv+ warm bodies plus a mix of all the vampire films. It even starts as if its a sequel to 1931's version of Dracula. I cheered for the Count Dracula Prince Dracula scene. You should too.

I think this is the horror movie of the year so far as of 03-05-2023. Something about Russel Crowe driving that vespa in the European streets with that cool sunglasses.
There are sure some flaws, like more could have been explored of the family .But its Russel Crowe this side , he totally owns with his witty one liners and stunning acting. He owns the accent, narrative and the whole movie on the back , even Asmodeus started running after a while.
The Location is a major plus, I love how it ended where it leads for multiple exorcist movies. I think this movie will be in my top 3 fav exorcism movies of all time , and I know for sure I will be seated for part 2.
Ponniyin Selvan: Part One (2022)
A MODERN EPIC MASTERPIECE!
This is MANI RATNAM'S PONNIYIN SELVAN. The director has flawlessly adapted kalki's humongous masterpiece. I dont think any other director would have taken this much dedication and grit to bring ponnyin selvan to life, Fate had it to be Mr ratnam. No one else than him , ARR, Trisha , Ravi, Karthi ,Aish could have played their parts. This is trisha's finest work post VTV. What an actress. She yet again proves that TITLES dont define STARPOWER and ACTING finesse. She is always a SUPERSTAR. Karthi , being a student of ratnam is fantastic under his guru's direction . Jeyam ravi , Vikram are fantastic asusual. AISH AND RATNAM's chemistry which began like 20 years ago , yet again strikes chords. She is an enchantress for sure. What an actress! Rahman's love for mr ratnam is once again evident on screen. To score a movie without any reference , I think ARR has done a stupendous job. Art director ,dept played major role and the effort that went through these last two years were felt on screen. I think every MASTERPIECE has and will have some flaws , as MR RATNAM says , nothing is PEFECT, and even those flaws are beautifully overcome and depicted. This movie is fast moving , visually appealing , energizing epic. I left the theatre wanting for more.
