Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Maybe the best Marvel Movies in Years.
What people claim to dislike on the movie is that it has a lot of funny almost slapstick humor in it. The thing is this is a common practice and called "comic relief" when you actually have serious, heart breaking arcs in the movie.
The movie really doesn't have a lot of "wokeness" in it. Its there, yes, but there is no marry sue. Almost the whole story is developing natural and makes sense. King Valkyrie? It's only mentioned once in the whole movie.
The main Characters Thor, Jane and Valkyrie all have arcs that make sense. Valkyrie is reminding everyone what is her current state building up for maybe the next movie, so its not great, but its there.
We also get introduced to some new characters with future potiential.
I really enjoyed the whole runtime. The finale including the postcredits scenes are very rewarding.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022)
Confusing nonsense.
I don't understand what the idea of this movie was. It has a lot of nonsense fit together into a movie that doesn't matter at all. The whole idea of the movie makes no sense.
It's such a missed opportunity. I was really sad to see what they did.
The best scenes in the movie have been like 5 minutes all together in Hogwarts when it was not about the plot.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Very bad story and dialogs with great cast and effects
This movie is exactly that, a lot of eye candy. Unbelievable beautiful Harley Quinn. Idris Elba is also great in it. The story, the dialog is all crap. It glorifies violence and celebrates it when humans are cut into parts and teared apart.
The whole mission makes no sense. Why would you select these super villains for the task in this movie. Nothing makes sense.
This is just a music video that got too long.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)
Unbelievable what they did to MOTU
Its like Last Jedi, Star Trek Discovery, and so on. The people who made this show hate MOTU. Teela is the new Protagonist and now looks like a man. She is angry, unreasonable and not the character she used to be. Nothing makes any sense. She shares a lot of scenes with a random black female nobody that together with her new personality disorder haircut implies that they are a couple.
The dialogs are bad. Any new character design is bad. I would go so far to say that this show is even worse then the new She-Ra.
The whole show is a hit in the face of all MOTU Fans.
Star Trek: Discovery: That Hope Is You, Part 1 (2020)
Terrible Writing
The problem really is the people who make this show don't understand star trek and certainly lacking knowledge of the canon. I would say this was one of the dumbest star trek episodes ever, topping even some very dumb other discovery episodes. Plot convenience, a lot of nonsense happens and the all present "run fast and don't think about it" approach is used to cover up the terrible writing.
This is not star trek.
Enola Holmes (2020)
It's not a smart detective movie
I think the core problem of this film is that it wants to use the name "Holmes" as a marketing tool for this feminist movie. The problem is, this is not a detective story, but an adventure, journey, buddy movie.
I also think that the story and the feminist messaging is done very roughly and uncreatively. Partially very cringy stuff.
A lot of problems happen with the portrayal of Sherlock. Sherlock would have 1000% recognized Elona at first sight. This was a very stupid thing directly at the start of the movie. Don't get me wrong i love Henry Cavil as Sherlock, but Sherlock is so stupid in this movie!
Sometimes Elona breaks the 4th wall. I am not sure why the moviemakers thought this was a great idea, because it wasn't. It really destroys the immersion.
Also a lot of generally unlogical and unlikely stuff happens in the story. I thought this movie was based on a book. It makes so little sense.
I think if they make a second movie and not repeat the mistakes of the first one, it could be nice. I liked the cast, the production value and generally the setting.
Star Trek: Lower Decks: Much Ado About Boimler (2020)
This is actually star trek
The best episode. It's very serious most of the time. It's 25 minutes long. Its great. A must watch. I still hate the first three episodes of this show.
Star Trek: Lower Decks: Terminal Provocations (2020)
Good Episode
Another more or less good episode. All plots are decent. This show is already the best star trek show from Kurzmann by far.
Star Trek: Lower Decks: Cupid's Errant Arrow (2020)
Not as good as the last one, but good
Liked the whole episode, beside there was again a bit too much of Becky in it. B Plot was total nonsense.
A Plot: 7 stars (Becky and Brad)
B Plot: 3 stars (Dvana and Sam)
C Plot: 9 stars (Bridge Crew + Overall Mission ~ 2 minutes of the episide)
The people who make this show don't understand the economy of star trek. Every star fleet personal can have everything all the time, because a ship has nearly infinite amount of resources. This is the second time they play around with this nonsense like as a lower deck you get worse food and not the best tools in the fleet. Makes no sense.
For someone like me who identifies as a nerd, the treatment of Brad is still a very serious problem of the show. It's sad really. The whole episode was again a joke on him to a degree. *sigh*
Star Trek: Lower Decks: Moist Vessel (2020)
Excellent Episode
Loved the whole episode. No one was bullied, characters did great things. Story was great.
Don't believe the biased reviews on this episode. I gave all prior episodes a bad rating because the episodes were bad and hurting star trek canon. This is the first episode that was very good. You have to ignore the dumb things Beckett does sometimes. Just think about her as a troubled person with personality disorder and look the other way.
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)
A honest try to restart Star Wars
The people involved in this movie tried their best to start the new trilogy very carefully by not overloading it with new stuff. That was a good idea. The whole movie just suffers from so many problems. The main problem is that this movie is not focusing on the main protagonist and instead tries to do a lot of world building and checking of long lists of stuff that need to happen. What people disturbed the most was an murder and death of one character that not made a huge amount of sense. Still this movie is watchable.
Star Trek: Lower Decks: Temporal Edict (2020)
The first episode that doesn't suck
In this episode Beckett has not as much screentime and does not interact with Brad that much. Beckett nerdshames Brad in the beginning of the episode, which clearly shows the mindset of the people behind the show and the target audience. It's a show from Jocks for Jocks. Laugh about it when a nerd is bullied. So much fun.
Beside this all the plots that happen are ok, with some actually good moments and scenes. The question is, "Is this star trek?" and i would say, no it isn't. It's silly nonsense for Jocks.
Star Trek: Lower Decks (2020)
Anti Star Trek Protagonist Show
The core problem of this show is that Beckett Mariner as the protagonist of this show has a sporty dark triad personality mixed with some random silliness and anti authority behavior. So she is a little bit like Burnham mixed with Tilly from discovery, if you want to say this nicer you could say she is like Han Solo from Star Wars. In my humble opinion the sheer amount of insubordination by Beckett clearly shows that she is unfit to be a starfleet officer in the TNG era and that is ruining the show. Especially since in my opinion Star Trek shows should not have a main protagonist and instead be an assemble show. Having the most anti-star trek character in a show be the main character of a star trek show is a very questionable decision.
I also really have a problem with the portrayal of black woman by secret hideout. This is the second show with a black female lead that suffers from lack of values, mental health problems and personality disorder.
The first episode is ok, the second episode a catastrophe, the third one is good and the forth one is excellent.
How nerds are treated in this show also lets you question the sanity of the writing staff given the main star trek audience. For example in Episode 3 before the opening credits Beckett nerdshames Brad in front of his audience while he does an nerdy musical dance performance. This is like the 10th instance in which Brad is bullied by Beckett. Take a close look at the face from Brad while he is lead around in a headlock by Beckett at the end of episode 1. This is textbook bulling 101. If you don't understand this, please go to wikipedia and read the article about bulling. There seem to be a lot of people who don't understand what is the difference between ribbing, bulling and conflict.
The show doesn't stick enough to canon, protocol is too often ignored, there is a lack of decency and overall a lot of stuff is badly done. Still, going forward, if there are more episodes like episode 4 then this will be the best star trek show produced by secret hideout by far.
Star Trek: Lower Decks: Second Contact (2020)
Star Trek: The next hope
So the episode begins very much like you would expect from a star trek episode, with a log entry, but then very quickly gets side tracked. A lot of stupid stuff happens that is unnecessary and not funny in the least. The show has a few moments, like when they look outside the ship and see space at warp speed together with great music, when you get a glimps at what star trek should be.
The core of this show seems to be to try to make fun of star trek in a very bad way. I am not sure if the people involved know star trek actually or just read some articles about it on wikipedia or something. The feeling that a lot of people have is that the nerds who made star trek are now replaced by jocks who now bully us even with our fiction.
Star Trek could be funny, but you still have to stick to canon and some rules of the universe to a degree.
It also seemingly wants to annoy the fanbase intentionally with stuff like "blue romulan whiskey". I really don't know how all of this will turn out.
At this time i think the show still has potential, but the first episode was a very mixed bad with a lot of "psydo-progressive leftist Tropes" in it. The first episode feels like this is another show with a very annoying black woman lead. Just like another show nobody likes.
Waiting for the next Episode.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
The worst star trek show imaginable
This show is the destruction of all that star trek stood for in the past. It's unintelligent, it makes no sense, its violent, it's filled with bad ideas that already have been done better by star trek or other shows and it destroys the legacy of Gene Roddenberry.
It's the end of the franchise. I wish i could erase any memory of this show i have from my brain.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Bad Show for Star Trek Fans
I think the show would be great if it had not all of this star trek paint on it. If it had it's own little universe to play with a lot of the stuff that happens in the show would be cool. Sadly this is not the case. The people who make this show obviously are not star trek fans. Star Trek Discovery suffers from all of this:
Bad Writing,
Ignores and Corrupts Canon,
Unlikable Characters,
Brutal,
Unintelligent,
Not family friendly,
Every character has big mental issues,
Not in the tradition of star trek,
Pessimistic,
Anti-Star Trek
To sum this up. Star Trek Discovery is an action show with a lot of dumb stuff going on that is made for people that don't know star trek, have a very short attention span, no memory and no interest in science whatsoever. It tries to be a game of thrones mixed with west world as a star trek show and fails miserably with it. I would not recommend this show to anyone.
Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
Absolut trash
This movie is the undoing of the whole star wars universe. It's so bad on so many levels it boggles the mind. The people who made this movie seem to have absolutely no clue what the story is and where this is all going. The core idea "a star destroyer is very slowly chasing another starship is probably the worst idea anyone ever had". Everything is so stupid. I wish i could "unsee" this movie. I haven't watched "Rise of Skywalker" because i know it is cut from the same cloth.
Stargirl (2020)
Live the show
Cheesy, high production value, high school, cool super heroine. Every episode gets better. Everybode who likes DC and super heroes should watch this show. Of course this is a complete different approach then arrow or other grim the cw shows. It's more for people who enjoy Legends of Tomorrow.
