Lots of stupid people running down hallways
1 May 2021
They overcompensated for a trite, contrived, and incredibly boring story, with an over-the-top dramatic soundtrack. If these are the people who are chosen to repopulate another planet, then we can be assured the new colony will last about 2 weeks.

Lots of eerie music, but nothing eerie happens.

It has a gritty feel, and the camera work is great, but there's not much else.

Pattinson has some good acting, but it's hard to take Defoe seriously when he looks like the Gorton's fish-stick guy.

The trailer looked interesting, then it sunk in... as I realized this was an ABC show
18 November 2020
I watched about 5 minutes, and that was enough. Zero originality, horrible script, bad music, shallow and vapid characters, ....you know, the typical crap being defecated out of Hollywood these days.

A nice ode to Close Encounters.
29 May 2020
This movie has a definite "Stranger Things" vibe, with a little "Super 8" as well. The story is very similar to Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I really like the continuous scenes with little editing, and the almost frozen stops that add to the dramatic effect of the dialog, with a barely noticeable whiff of David Lynch films.

More biased drama.
9 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
All of the witnesses who testified under oath, corroborated Zimmerman's account. They all saw Martin mounted on top of Zimmerman, punching Zimmerman in the face, and slamming the back of Zimmerman's head into the concrete. There's even an audio recording of Zimmerman calling out for help. He then defended himself with his gun. This is not a documentary, it's a biased drama.

I didn't think Mr. Rogers could get any creepier...then along came Tom Hanks
2 February 2020
Somehow, Tom Hanks Made Mr. Rogers even less appealing. He portrays him as if he suffered a massive stroke, and never quite recovered. All the while, trying to insert his childish demeanor into a "real-world adult situation", which of course feels even more fake than the TV show did.

It's pretty good, if you understand the back story.
22 November 2019
I found this movie intriguing, but only because I have seen so many Charles Manson documentaries and adaptations. The tension in the movie is built by knowing what will eventually happen to these people, but if you are unaware of who these people are, you may get bored. I suspect a lot of the reviews that said it was horrible, had no plot, and was too long, were from people who did not understand the connection with the Manson gang. Even so, it was a bit repetitive, and much of the movie seemed to be about waxing nostalgic instead of advancing the story.

A sloppy, choppy mess.
22 November 2019
Terrible editing, Horrible soundtrack, cardboard characters. The whole movie feels like we are following a film crew around while the actors rehearse their lines. Gary Oldman will apparently take any job he can get. He does wear an eye-patch though...good call by the wardrobe department; they really earned their keep.

Review for season 3
14 October 2019
Season 1 was excellent, most would agree. Season 2 was so-so. Season 3 seems like nothing but a money-grab. The whole season is the result of a sinkhole? Really? It's also ironic that they wait until the drought in CA is over to rehash this crap. And the bad guys are the farmers and ranchers? It would have been a lot more interesting if they had gone after the corrupt governor for propagating the "endless drought" nonsense that had people rationing, and the insane price hikes for water in CA. I guess it's easier to just throw in some trippy drug scenes and hope people find it "edgy". Good thing there will always be a substantial percentage of gullible idiots to lap this crap up.

Trite, Contrived, and Incredibly Boring.....with a splash of T.D.S.
30 August 2019
This is a boring remake of about 10 different films, and it fails at all of them. Everyone involved phoned this one in from home. It's a bunch of attention grabbing famous names, who all do nothing and go nowhere. It appears that Jim has come down with a bout of T.D.S. as well. Sad.

Biased, Partisan piece of propaganda, full of dozens and dozens of inaccuracies and outright lies.
9 January 2019
A political hit-job, that makes Republicans out to be blood thirsty war-mongers, and Democrats as the peace-loving good guys who care about the environment. Exactly what I would expect from the leftist "feelings cult" known as Hollywood. There is always a never ending supply of gullible people to lap this crap up, because they have no clue of the last 50 years of American history.

Here are a few of the reactions to the lies in this movie:

He wasn't kicked out of school, he dropped out. The Vietnam war was started by Kennedy and Johnson. The USA did not drop bombs on "women and children" in Cambodia. Nixon and Ford ended Vietnam, after we won. The Democrats then pulled out our troops which led to the murder of 2 million citizens. Carter was the most ineffective president possibly ever. The economy in the 70's was a crap show because of Carter. The Reagan years were the most profitable in the history of America. How is reducing taxes a bad thing? Theft is immoral. No mention of Al Gore and his nonsense about how we would all be underwater by now if we didn't stop carbon emissions. No mention of how Clinton did nothing when Al Qaeda bombed the WTC the first time, and USS Cole bombing. Not one drop of oil was taken from Iraq by US oil companies. No mention of how Obama called in 100X the number of airstrikes as Bush/Cheney. Then they actually have the gall to splice in Stoneman Douglas, Trump supporters, and Illegal alien children being held in cages at the border. Then they try to pin ISIS deaths on Cheney....even though ISIS came to power because Obama pulled US troops out of Iraq, and then did nothing to stop the rise of ISIS for 8 years. Trump crushed ISIS in less than one year.

I could go on and on. This is a great movie for people who like having their head stuck in the sand.

Commitment is for adults.
1 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
SPOILER: This movie would have made a lot more sense if they would have just removed the kids from the main couple. I was actually surprised when they showed the kids, and it turned out they belonged to the main couple. I thought they were just babysitting or something, at first, because this couple behaved like they were wishy-washy insecure middle schoolers. These kids are now messed up for life because their parents are selfish weaklings, but somehow this movie tries to play itself off as a lighthearted comedy? Oh wait, I forgot, it's the governments job to raise children, and to educate them....they'll be fine.

It's British.
24 May 2018
I imagine this film may be hard to digest for some, as a lot of British films can be. I typically do not enjoy British films or T.V. series. I don't find their comedy all that funny, and their Sci-Fi tends to be overly dramatic and sappy. This film is very "artsy", and theatrical. It reminded me of Dr. Who, The Fifth Element, Under the Skin, and The Worlds End. It was decent enough that I watched the whole movie, which is rare for a British film.

Black Panther (2018)

We was Kaaangz N Sheeet!
18 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I used to collect and read some of the Black Panther comics in the 80's. I don't remember them being full of racist and historically fictitious diatribe, which is basically what this movie is. I wanted to like it, I really did, but it's just kind of pathetic. The movie keeps harping on the ideas that Africa would somehow be a world leader, if not for the evil white colonialists, as if anyone in their right mind actually believes that. The villain makes comments about how everything was stolen from Africa by a white women's "ancestors". The uncle says how the black people of planet earth are "unfairly" policed and incarcerated..i.e. "Dundu Nuffin". The black sister calls the white CIA agent a "colonizer", as if he is somehow responsible for the actions of people hundreds, if not thousands, of years before he was born. The most hypocritical line in the movie then follows, when the wife of Black Panther tells him "you can't let your fathers mistakes define who you are"...yet this whole movie tries to define all of the white characters as "oppressors" and "colonizers", because of what their ancestors supposedly did. So why doesn't Wakanda use their special mineral to take over the world? Because they are peaceful and respectful people, and it's not their way....as if Africa is not a war torn continent that has been murdering and enslaving it's own people for the entirety of written history. This movie is nothing but a trite and disappointing political smear job from start to finish. Sad.

The best way to express your grief is by committing multiple felonies.
16 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
First, let's all just accept the premise that police beat up random black people for no reason whatsoever. Also, police are inept, because they can't find someone to arrest for the murder and rape of your daughter, even though there is zero forensic evidence. Next let's take a moment to reflect on the time you told your daughter "I hope you get raped on the way too". Now it's time to start lashing out at the world because you are angry. Start by committing 2 felonies against a dentist. It's also a good idea to go into a police station and tell them what horrible people they are. When your signs get set on fire, climb onto one of the burning signs and stand at the top of the flames. Next, fire-bomb a police station, because you are still mad, even though there is still no evidence or suspects. Finally, if you can't find the actual person who committed the crime, instead go murder a complete stranger on a hunch. This is all very profound and heart-wrenching...can't you tell by the music?

The police chief isn't so bad though, because he has cancer and is spitting up blood. He thinks it's best to leave the hospital, because what do doctors know about dealing with cancer. He doesn't want his wife and kid's final memories of him to be slowly dying in a hospital, so instead their final memories will be of him blowing his own brains out in the barn.

Thankfully, a streetwise black police chief came in to take over for the inept and racist white police officers. Now things will finally get done.

Stupid, dysfunctional, insecure whore, meets emasculated, spineless weakling.
13 October 2017
The series starts out pretty good, with some genuine laughs. As it goes into the second half of season one, and most of season 2, I found myself wanting Jason, from Friday the 13th, to walk in and plunge a machete into the skulls of the main couple, if for no other reason than to make sure these pathetic humans do not breed. I really only kept watching because I was more interested in all of the side characters. Mickey's roommate is the funniest character in the show. Season 2 is almost completely devoid of laughs.

It's painful to watch this Beta-Cuck of a man fail at life.
29 September 2017
All of the attempted comedy in this movie falls flat on its face. These people are supposed to be adults, but they all act like grade- schoolers. The dialog is so forced that it seems like a rehearsal at a school play. The main character lets other men slap him in the face, sit on him, and bully him. His mom is an overbearing idiot, and a weakling, so I guess that makes sense. The main character is not a "hopeless romantic", he is a bald-faced liar, especially to himself. He learns nothing from his failures, and will repeatedly fail for the rest of his pathetic life. The end.

Long, boring, stupid. It's no wonder it has such a high rating.
16 January 2017
When the majority of people on this planet have an IQ around 90...it's no wonder people will fall for this crap. The soundtrack is sappy and grating, the entire story is nothing but an appeal to emotions, there is zero "science" involved, and it features two of the worst actors around, Adams and Renner. This is a blatant money-grab, and the idiotic masses lap it up. Hollywood is on auto-pilot. Just keep regurgitating watered-down movies from the past, using washed-up actors who need money to pay their mortgages, and wrap it in a "new" package. When all of the morons of the world open it up, only to find a few stale crumbs, you can laugh all the way to the bank. "A sucker is born every minute".

This movie is total BS, and is dangerous.
21 September 2015
Gerson's therapy has not been independently tested or subjected to randomized controlled trials, and thus is illegal to market in the United States. The Gerson Institute promotes the therapy by citing patient testimonials and other anecdotal evidence. Gerson published a book discussing the alleged success of the therapy in 50 patients, but a review by the U.S. National Cancer Institute was unable to find any evidence that Gerson's claims were accurate. The NCI found that no in vivo animal studies had been conducted. Similarly, case series by Gerson Institute staff published in the alternative medical literature suffered from methodological flaws, and no independent entity has been able to reproduce the claims.

Attempts to independently check the results of the therapy have been negative. A group of 13 patients sickened by elements of the Gerson Therapy were evaluated in hospitals in San Diego in the early 1980s; all 13 were found to still have active cancer. An investigation by Quackwatch found that the institute's claims of cure were based not on actual documentation of survival, but on "a combination of the doctor's estimate that the departing patient has a 'reasonable chance of surviving', plus feelings that the Institute staff have about the status of people who call in".

A 1994 article in the Journal of Naturopathic Medicine attempted to follow 39 Gerson patients in Tijuana. Patient interviews were used to confirm the existence and stage of cancer; most patients were unaware of the stage of their tumor, and medical records were not available. Most patients were lost to follow-up; of the patients successfully followed, 10 died and six were alive at their last follow-up. Review of this study pointed out its "obvious flaws", including "the majority of patients lost to follow-up, lack of access to detailed medical records, and reliance upon patients for disease stage information"; the authors themselves regarded the results as unclear.

The American Cancer Society reported that "there is no reliable scientific evidence that Gerson therapy is effective in treating cancer, and the principles behind it are not widely accepted by the medical community. It is not approved for use in the United States." In 1947, the National Cancer Institute reviewed 10 claimed cures submitted by Gerson; however, all of the patients were receiving standard anticancer treatment simultaneously, making it impossible to determine what effect, if any, was due to Gerson's therapy. A review of the Gerson Therapy by Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center concluded: "If proponents of such therapies wish them to be evaluated scientifically and considered valid adjuvant treatments, they must provide extensive records (more than simple survival rates) and conduct controlled, prospective studies as evidence". In 1959, the National Cancer Institute (NCI) again reviewed cases of patients treated by Gerson. The NCI found that the available information did not prove the regimen had benefit. Cancer Research UK states that "Available scientific evidence does not support any claims that Gerson therapy can treat cancer. Gerson therapy can be very harmful to your health."

Mind-numbingly Stupid.
22 May 2015
Warning: Spoilers
It starts out well enough. At about the 50 minute mark, this movie goes full retard. Never go full retard. This may be the worst Samuel L. Jackson movie ever. The kid is not a good actor. This movie feels like a Chuck Norris movie from the 80's, except it's not even good to laugh at. To whomever made this movie: It must be nice to have 8.5 million dollars to just flush down the toilet. Do yourself a favor, just flush the money you were going to spend to watch this movie down the toilet. At least you will save the 1.5 hours. I figured I would waste another 5 minutes writing this review, in hopes that I can spare some unsuspecting people out there from the same pitfall. Please, give my respects to the outside world. I fear that I may never come back to reality, after this poop tainted spike pierced my brain.

A really good movie
15 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Typically, when I see a rating this high on a new movie, with very few votes, it's because the movie production company hires people, or has a bunch of their friends over-rate it, to make it look good. Definitely not the case for this movie. This movie touches on so many subjects: Delusions, Nut-job Theists, Imaginary friends (i.e. gods, spirits, ghosts), Emotional Trauma, Broken Homes, Failed Relationships, Social Retardation, Schizophrenia, Psychology, Death, and last but not least, Grief. Anyone who has ever lost a parent to death, or a broken home, will be able to relate to this movie. There were times in this movie where I literally didn't know if I was laughing or crying. Religion has always been used as a crutch for people who cannot accept death; either the death of a loved one, or their own imminent death. The fact that most religions can't even move past the first stage of grief (denial), is masterfully dissected in this movie. Well done.

This is not a documentary. It's also really stupid.
30 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Just another example of a bunch of douche bags who make a stupid movie, and then run to IMDb to jack up the ratings. The first 10 minutes or so it actually seems that this is going to be a documentary film about some kids who TP houses. Then it turns into a stupid after-school dramatization of some fake people pretending to TP peoples houses. The acting was horrible, the script was retarded, and everything is staged. People this dumb would never even be able to get away with such a trivial crime as TPing someones house.

Waste of time

In My Pocket (2011)

The plot line makes no sense
29 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
A college student overdoses on drugs and wakes up in the hospital. The parents say if he doesn't admit himself into rehab that they will stop supporting him. Next it shows the parents signing papers, as if they are having him committed. It turns out he is in fact committed, to a mental ward, without his consent. What? No judge ordered him to be put into a mental hospital. No judge ordered him into forced rehab. He didn't want to go, so why is he there? The only plausible explanation is that he willingly allowed himself to be committed to a mental hospital. The kind with steel grates over all the windows so you can't escape. Are we supposed to believe that he did this just so his parents would keep supporting him?

He was failing out of med school and also ran a drug lab. Why would he need their money? He could get a job at 7-11 (or keep selling drugs)and move into a crappy apartment with a friend, but instead he chooses to lock himself up in a mental hospital?

There are violent criminals locked up in there as well, but when the main characters ex-girlfriend comes to visit him, they allow her to wander the halls, with all of the patients, looking for him. Is this really how secured mental hospitals and secured drug rehab facilities for ex-cons operate? Whoever wrote this movie doesn't seem to understand that if you are an adult, your parents cannot commit you to a mental hospital by signing some papers. If this guy did commit himself to this particular facility, then he is just stupid. It's too bad, because the acting and special effects are pretty decent. The story is absolutely absurd.

"1 (aweful)"...yea that pretty much sums it up.
25 December 2013
This movie is silly, discombobulated, childish and poorly acted. Everyone in this movie feels like an extra on an after-school special, made for T.V. movie. After the first 20 minutes I wanted everyone to step on the grass. There are several failed attempts at moral, religious and racist ideologies. It is obvious that a substantial portion of the budget and time spent on this movie was used to beef-up their IMDb rating.

Don't waste your time.

Blah.
