Deuces (2016)
Everyone don't want to see you elevate
Typically, drug dealers use that lifestyle as a stepping stone to improve their circumstances, but some individuals become accustomed to it and start to get intimidated by others when they start to change or they observe someone wishing to move on because they believe that person is attempting to prevent them from eating. Before he met Reece, Deuces didn't have a friend with whom to share suggestions and advance his real estate plan forward which solidified their bond. In my opinion, for Deuces character to be described as alert, paranoid, and meticulous, he granted Reece access to his operation without thorough researching him.
Menace II Society (1993)
Life is full of opportunities!
Cain is a product of his environment. He was exposed to drugs, sex, and murder while growing up in the 1970s and 1980s. After learning about the hustle from Pernell, he was drawn to it even though he witnessed the fast life's downfall. Cain's grandparents raised him with their values and beliefs in the hopes that he would change, but he was reluctant to give up life on the streets. When he finally decided he wanted more for himself, it was too late. Some people cave in to the pressure, and others manage to break free. When Cain grandfather asked him "Does he care whether he live or die?" I think he was so used to people just dying he didn't realize it's so much to live for.
Crossover (2006)
I love this movie!
Growing up, most athletes were advised to steer clear of groupies because you never know if they are genuinely interested in you for money, fame, or romance. Why didn't Noah expect Jewelz's ex-girlfriend having a purpose when they started dating? She rushed on the train as soon as she learned of his scholarship and the NBA's interest in him. I was infuriated to see Noah defend Vanessa over Tech. She just recently became apart of his life; she shouldn't have an opinion about their friendship especially since she's not aware of their history. Tech shouldn't have let Vanessa's comments affect him to the extent their secret was made public; if he was going to hold grudges against Noah each time he didn't get his way, he shouldn't have served time for him.
Queen & Slim (2019)
I love this movie!
This is the harsh reality of a criminal justice system that is filled with corruption, and it is the heartless outcome that so many Black people have had to endure. Have we as a society grown insensitive to the injustices inflicted on African Americans by the American criminal justice system? Everyone was so preoccupied with the death of a police officer that they failed to notice the officer's intimidation of Queen & Slim. He was still viewed as innocent even in death, so I can understand why they fled the scene. Who would have imagined that they would become wanted felons after just one date? They joined forces right away, knowing that their future did not exist. It be your own people that's your downfall.
Sparkle (2012)
Life is a gamble!
Recall the days when your identity was determined by your family name. Several moms would meticulously plot their daughters' lives in order to shield them from repeating their own faults or molding them into the stereotypes of those in their upbringing. I love that this film presented two viewpoints on the music industry. Not everyone will have the same experiences; what happens to you will rely on your morals and ideals. Sister would have done better, in my opinion, if Emma had been able to use her experiences to guide her kids rather than treating them like inmates. I think she was indoctrinated at an early age about the value of marriage, which caused her to make poor decisions. After she gained a terrible reputation as a result, she lost hope for herself and became survival-focused.
Secret Society (2021)
Eye opener!
These days, more people are embracing this way of life. The fact that transgender women must conceal who they are behind a façade highlights how difficult it is for them. Money has long been said to be the source of all evil, and some individuals would stop at nothing to accomplish their objectives, but sometimes it can go too far. I enjoyed how they delved into the past to let you empathize with the girls and understand why their family's rejection of them led them to prioritize security over love. This is a film that you must view with an open mind. This movie has started a discussion concerning a topic many are embarrassed to talk about or acknowledge happening to them.
The Rosa Parks Story (2002)
Change is necessary!
I was captivated by this film from the beginning to the very end. As the NAACP secretary, Rosa Parks was devoted to every narrative until she finally had enough. You will know who is on your side when everyone else is against you. Although it appears that Parks, as they nicknamed him, didn't support her throughout the movie, what guy wouldn't want to shield his wife from harm? Learning about Rosa's past reveals that she was raised to be a leader, but nobody anticipated the impact her incident would have on the entire country. To bring about a change, it was necessary to seize this opportunity. We are grateful to Mrs. Rosa Parks for taking a stand when so many others were frightened to.
Tom and Jerry (2021)
Love always prevails!
Have you ever wonder why the majority of hotels has a no-pets policy? This movie supports why that rule is enforced; At the Royal Gate hotel, Tom and Jerry destroyed a ton of property and ruined an elite event. Kayla tried to maintain order by forcing them to get along, but the food chain is an hierarchy that is firm. Tom and Jerry feeling guilty for blowing Kayla's cover as a result she was fired decided to come together and right their wrongs. It was a stretch that their plan worked to prevent Preeta from leaving New York and marrying Ben because the wedding planning drifted them apart due to differences but surviving prove their bond is solidified.
Aladdin (2019)
Be yourself!
Upon first viewing the movie, I failed to recognize the link, but at the start of the movie, the children were being told a story by a now-free genie and their father. Genie began by describing Arabia's breathtaking scenery. Then Aladdin appeared to us; showing the day in a life of a thief; he counterbalanced the crimes he committed by being generous to others in need. Who else would rescue a stranger from being arrested and offer their only meal to an impoverished child when they are risking their lives everyday? This is the reason he is the diamond in the rough. Aladdin's desire for a better life was granted via betrayal by Jafar. After having the opportunity to experience both social classes, he came to the conclusion that Jasmine didn't care; she was concerned with presenting Agrabah's citizens with a leader they could be proud of, even if it meant she had to accept that role.
Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
Saving Asgard!
There is a history of resentment and envy in this family. Can someone get a therapist, please. After learning that their sister Hela was the firstborn and banished and is currently attempting to seize the kingdom from Odin, we now know that Loki was not the first. Did anyone find him satisfactory as King? It appears like everyone has a different opinion about how the kingdom ought to be ruled. Hela demands recognition and payback because she believes she is the reason Asgard is powerful. It looks like Thor has finally found his match this upcoming battle you do not want to miss. Despite the circumstances involving Thor and Banner's reunion, I'm happy Thor has an ally on his side to count on.
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
Team work makes the dream work!
For yet another mission, the Avengers have reconnected. I adored watching the group work together, relying on one another's strengths and defending one another. Since recovering the scepter was already challenging it seemed bizarre that Stark would develop a program behind everyone's back that would eventually need to be destroyed. With his unwavering leadership and optimism that they would go undefeated as a team, Captain America was the only one who could keep the team cohesive. The introduction of the new Avengers, The Scarlet Witch and Vision, as well as their backstories, was fascinating to watch. I can't wait to see what's next.
The Avengers (2012)
I love this movie!
It is shocking to me that Loki's personal resentment against Thor led to all of this destruction. For what reason did he believe that he would just take control and dictate Earth without any consequences? Earth is not at an advantage in battle, so Nick Fury had the right of using the Tesseract to create weaponry. It took some time to get everyone on the same page, but in the end, their shared goal inspired them to work together as a team, which is why I admired how the Avengers came together. I have never watched the Marvel series before, but now I am totally invested. I am curious to know since Loki did not keep his promises to the Chitauri what will happen next.
A Thousand and One (2023)
I love this movie!
In Terry's position, how would you feel? Would you accept and forgive if you discovered that everything you believe to be true was actually a falsehood told out of love? Despite the lies she told Terry, I believe Inez just had Terry's best interests in mind and wanted to do everything in her power to ensure he was well-cared for and given every opportunity. Normally I would be all for kidnappers to be arrested but Inez was actually a hero given that she was the one who found Terry standing on the corner neglected by his parents. I was very outraged when Terry told the social worker the truth about his bogus name; I think this is one situation where the truth is best hidden.
The Chi (2018)
Such a good beginning!
My emotions are all over the place after only one day of viewing The Chi. God spared him from being charged for murder just for him to take it for granted the next day. What caused Coogie to return for that necklace and flaunt it around as if no one would be looking into who killed Jason? It was a fatal error in judgment that lost him his life. Ronnie, on the other hand, allowed Jason's mother to implant a battery in his back so that he could leave the house and behave erratically. As a result, he wasn't even open to hearing Coogie out, despite the fact that he was speaking the truth about how the necklace came into his possession. Not that Coogie wasn't wrong, but the fact that Ronnie took matters into his own hands and erred has left him with a guilty conscience. This will only lead to a blowout because it ties other people into the conflict. After watching the first three episodes, I'm extremely intrigued and want to see what happens next.
Sex and the City (1998)
Where have I been? I love this show!
An unique and popular TV show is Sex and the City. It centers on four groups of friends who are New York City residents and who each share a distinctive perspective and set of experiences on contemporary relationships, female friendships, and the complexities of love, sex, and dating. I admire how the series discusses controversial topics and starts important discussions about gender roles, discovering oneself, and pursuing happiness. Because it questions conventional expectations and encourages women to accept their urges, the show's open and honest treatment of sexuality continues to be refreshing.
Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul. (2022)
No one is perfect!
The challenges of the First Ladies within the American Christian culture are highlighted in this movie. The Child's megachurch was brought down by a scandal, which also caused the church to close and lose members. The Child family decided to allow a film crew access to their daily lives as they restored their church because they wanted to showcase their repentance and solid foundation. While she is overwhelmed, Trinitie tries to remain supportive throughout, but her husband overlooks her feelings of grief. Lee-Curtis was preoccupied with the idea of having a devoted following of churchgoers, which he saw as a sign of success. In order to accomplish his goal, he was prepared to humiliate and degrade his wife. He seemed to constantly paint a picture of himself and his faith in his speeches that didn't match reality. He also seems to think that flaunting off his wealth in front of others would prove to himself and the church that he was successful. Despite the fact he was the source of the matter at hand, he focused entirely on the self-image he wished to project and was prepared to sacrifice everything for it.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)
This is the Revolution
The sequel continues Katniss Everdeen's journey as she rises to prominence as a symbol of resistance to Panem's oppressive regime. The narrative focuses on the political conflicts and injustices that exist in the districts as well as how people are gaining the courage to stand up against the Capitol. It is engrossing and draws the audience in. It was devastating to watch because after winning their games and being promised they would never have to compete again as a form of punishment, the capitol broke their promise. President Snow introduced the idea of the 75th anniversary and having all the champions compete to incite fear.
The Son (2022)
Mind-altering
Mental illness is the major theme in this movie. The parents' failure to detect their son's acute depression baffled me. Nicholas's absence from school, his aloofness, and his tendency to cut himself were all clear warning signs. He even tells his mother directly, "I'm not well," but his cries for assistance were ignored. In yet another instance of them failing to comprehend and/or downplay the seriousness of what is happening to their son, Peter and Kate return him home after a botched suicide attempt lands him in a mental institution, defying the advice of medical specialists. Nicholas shoots himself shortly after they return him to Peter's apartment, while his parents are in the adjacent room. After seeing this movie, it open your eyes to be more aware of your love ones because you never know who is suffering in silence.
Aladdin (1992)
Stay true to yourself!
Because everyone has different backgrounds and traditions, life is more exciting than it would be if we were all the same. Aladdin was willing to present himself as a king in order to captivate Princess Jasmine. To keep up his facade, he had to keep on lying, which made him fall farther in a hole. Princess Jasmine simply wanted to be with someone true and who didn't demand anything from her, so he was hesitant to admit the truth until it was revealed unexpectedly. It would have been better if the truth had come from him since once trust has been betrayed, it can be challenging to recover it. Thankfully, he was able to win her back.
Girl Code (2013)
Be open to learning something new!
Together with your ladies, you should watch this show. It provides a platform which gives women the opportunity to talk about subjects you might otherwise avoid or steer clear because you are uncomfortable with them. I really appreciate the advise given, and I was so interested in the topics that I felt like I needed to weigh in with my own opinion. Additionally, I picked up a lot of knowledge, and it helped me relate to other girls who share my viewpoints or experiences. This is an outlet for many women who are unable to have these types of conversations with their mothers or who lack a motherly figure to asks these questions too.
Allied (2016)
A tragic love story!
What would you have done if you had known your partner had betrayed you? Put yourself in Max's position. He had just successfully accomplished a mission, found love, got married, and started a family, only for everything to collapse a year later. Because it's difficult to accept that someone you love and spend every day with would betray you, I would also question everything, so he required his own confirmation. I didn't like how he was prepared to sacrifice anyone to gain his answer; the death of the young pilot Adam Hunter was such a tragedy. Marianne should have informed her husband of the extortion from the beginning in order for them to jointly decide on their course of action, maybe it all could of been avoided.
Scream (1996)
Be careful who you surround yourself around
This is my first time watching Scream. Leaving windows and doors unlocked, conversing on the phone with total strangers, and violating a curfew set in place to stop other homicides are all examples of how trusting small towns can be. With all the homes secluded away in the wilderness and far from one another, no one could hear you scream for help, it made for the ideal town to commit a crime and get away with it. When Sidney learnt about the deaths of her classmates and that the killer was still unidentified, she should have contacted her father to come home right away. Sidney's mother had been brutally raped and killed in their home just a year prior, which, in my opinion, should have made her more wary. In spite of being on the verge of being attacked, she went against better judgment and attended a party, a great tactic for a killer to blend in not realizing the trap that was set in place which will end with a catastrophe at the hands of someone she love.
Anita (2013)
One person can bring about a change.
Anita Hill shares her story about the sexual harassment she suffered from her former boss Clarence Thomas to the US Senators in this documentary. Throughout the whole proceedings, it appeared that the senators had been intimidating Mrs. Hill to repeatedly recount the disgusting details in an effort to humiliate and demoralize her, but she remained calm, patient, and determined to express her point. Her claims was not taken seriously, yet even so, I was delighted to know she had a positive influence on others. She might not have believed that voicing the truth would benefit her much, but in reality, it impacted a lot of others who were or are hesitant to speak out against their boss for fear of losing their jobs, having their reputations tarnished or receiving threats.
Addams Family Values (1993)
Good sequel!
A good continuation of the first movie. The Addams family welcome their newest addition, Pubert who Wednesday and Pugsley despise. Feeling abandoned, they strive to harm the infant in every way they can as a result Gomez and Morticia agreed to hire Debbie as a nanny in order to give the kids the attention they require and provide Morticia some peace of mind. They failed to notice how volatile Debbie was until after she married Uncle Fester and convince him to stay away from his family. Debbie is a serial killer who targets wealthy men and gets rid of them when they are no longer needed. This is the second time Uncle Fester was persuaded to go against his family, he is quite a handful.
Baywatch (2017)
Every job makes a difference!
Common signs of political corruption include bribery, lobbying, extortion, using corrupt police, and intimidation. These strategies were used by Victoria Leeds, a successful businesswoman and owner of the Huntley Club, to increase her ownership share in the island for her own purposes. Despite Matt Brody's reputation being tarnished due to a drinking incident and his lack of expertise, she gave Captain Thorpe strong instructions to appoint him as the head lifeguard in order to attract media attention. Olympic gold medalist swimmer Matt Brody is immediately selected for the Baywatch team without having to try out or prove his eligibility. He is a good swimmer, but he also needs to be familiar with the lifeguard training that is required which includes CPR, first aid, victim assessment, rescue techniques, injury prevention and facility safety, as well as patron surveillance. Matt eventually swallowed his pride and decided to take lifeguarding seriously and learn from Mitch that their job was not simple and that they were real-life heroes, he was welcomed into the family.
