Little Women (2019)
Made me want to watch the 1994 version again
To begin with, I didn't get the modern way of behaving, which showed an utter lack of understanding of the time where Little Women was originally set. Also, this "modern" way of behaving actually ruined the portrayal of those women of advanced views.
Didn't need feminism, mainly because it was artificial.
But the most important thing that was missing from the film was the romance atmosphere a tale has, a tale for young girls full of dreams.
Never believed in the characters and as a result- I just watched the version from 1994
Bridesmaids (2011)
Dumb
I'm surprised how stupid a film could be. But this one proved me wrong.
A Star Is Born (2018)
When you don't know how to end
Such a good beginning, no I mean it- the first 1 hour was so cool. I was diving deep into the atmosphere. But then things started to get ugly. To begin with the characters, we have two people who doesn't seem to change or develop/or regres for that matter. The male character seems to have more layers but still lacks struggle. The female is so 2 dimensional that she even looks heartless. I'm using strong words here because we never actually see her actively caring about her relationship. All she does is singing.
Other problem is the conflict - by 1:30 I was wondering how they're going to end the movie. Nothing seemed to move into this direction. No problems were solved, nor characters changed. And then 2:00 Tolstoy threw his Anna under the train with no reason to do it other than a need of finale.
Good songs, but far too many far too often.
What I lacked most was connection with the characters, they seemed cold and distant and the only connective tissue were the songs.
Better next time Bradly
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
Such a disastrous waste of time
This endles audiovisual piss will grab your attention for 2 seconds, only to realize how awful it is.
Then the talking starts, and those random explosions, and more talking, jabbering, mumbling, nonsense!
Rate 1 out of 10, due to lack of lower rating possible
The Shape of Water (2017)
It's just not worth any Oscar
There was a time when a metascor of 80 was really something. Apparently those times are long gone!
This story is weak chain of cliches filled with endless dialogue discussing the evident action happening before our eyes.
The lead character seems to be the palest, most uninteresting and weak, and naturally fails to drive the story ahead. It's just boring to watch this one dimensional lady wandering around with her eggs.
The world is patchwork of different good movies without owning character of its own.
Really an average film, maximum 4 stars, or if you're a hardcore director's fan 5.
Darkest Hour (2017)
Superb Gary Oldman
They don't make such movies nowadays, you know...and I was realy missing them. Serious, witty, with lines repeated by the audience long after they're gone home.
The epoch, the cinematography, direction, and cast were something worth watching, but Gary Oldman stood like a giant before all those great advantages of the movie.
I must say I was distressed by the weak women characters, not really providing enough fuel to the story...
However the extent of patriotism fading into propaganda made me drop a few stars from my rating. It seemed to me unfair for the character to be so romantically portrayed.
Wonder Woman (2017)
Tarzan with superpowers.
I can't help but wonder why they've made wonder woman. They could have spent this fortune of a budget to make something decent. She's like Tarzan but with superpowers.
The film is filled with clueless acting, unneccecery scenes and... dumb fighs. Yep, there they are long and boring.
In order to save a couple of your brain cells, please don't watch this "movie"
Tête baissée (2015)
Wow
It was an absolutely marvelous film from beginning till end. The performance of the gypsy women was stunning. The camera was superb. And the realistic way of visual storytelling was not messing the film world, rather made the picture stronger and more influential. It has so much in common with the world's problems. The director described in such a magnificent and true way this people of whom we seldom think- all those women who don't have the right to think what they would love to do, because it has been decided by others. There are many connections with the Darden movies. This one is worth watching! Something different caring the signature of a new director.
