Three Stars For Set Design
27 February 2022
Wow! Just, wow! Honestly, I thought the set design was pretty impressive. It certainly did not look cheap.

But then came the acting and the dialogue. My goodness! They were terrible. While I'm not a lip reader, it really looked like they were speaking English... I'm absolutely certain they were speaking English, but for crying out loud, it really sounded so dull, that I had to keep checking their lips, as the dialogue sounded as though it was done after filming, like some foreign films.

This truly was not worth watching.

The 100, 100x Worse
15 December 2021
This is absolutely pathetic.

A typical movie about kids not getting along, but with a space theme. "I want control coz I'm tougher that you." That kind of bullcrap!

To the producers: get a real job!

OK To Watch
2 October 2021
For some reason I expected some breath-taking scenery, with the odd tear-jerking moments. Neither of those happened :( There is a story in there. And the story is "OK" to watch. But don't expect any special moments.

Undeniable Originality
15 September 2021
Nine Perfect Strangers (filmed in Byron Bay) is unlike anything I've ever seen before. Neither Kidman, nor McCarthy dominate. They both play their respective roles so well, it's hard to not like their characters.

For crying out loud, I thought I'd never watch a film with McCarthy in it ever again - but this is different.

The first three episodes don't reveal much at all... but after that, it all starts to make sense.

And the series is not necessarily centred around Kidman/McCarthy - there are many other fine characters, and a lot of humour, fun, weirdness, and micro-dosing :D

Just thinking about the show makes me giggle as I type this.

It is a limited production series, so it doesn't go on and on senselessly making up new scenarios borrowed from elsewhere. It is very original from my point of view.

If you watch it, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Kind Of Good, Mostly Boring
14 August 2021
I tried really hard to get into this one.

Nothing really wrong with the acting, it's just that the story didn't go anywhere. No climax. It just ends.

A Little House Cleaning
3 August 2021
Let's start with the bad; acting, script, dialog, cinematography, SFX.

The good; Twilight Zone music towards the end gave me a smile (for the flashback memories of great television and movie making), the end of the film.

This film did not engage me. I felt a need to do a little house cleaning as this played on my screen.

If you do put this film on, make sure you're alone, otherwise you'll be humiliated for the next several months.

I'm not going to waste my time detaIling why this film is a wreck, just don't watch it.

The people giving it a 10/10 were all the people in the film :D.

Excellent Story w/ Goosebumps
2 August 2021
The visuals don't change too much in this film, but that's just a minor thing, and doesn't really impact on it at all - it's the story and the script that really got me hooked!

Yes, another film about time travel, without the CGI & SFX seen elsewhere.

The performance by the two main actors was very convincing, and the dialogue very thought provoking. The other two actors weren't as impressive with their delivery from time to time (haha), but don't let that put your off.

I had goosebumps several times in this film and enjoyed just about every minute of it.

What tipped me over from 6 to 7/10 was the ending, it almost seemed to end... naturally.

I very much liked this film!

Original. Imaginative. Masterpiece.

Wow! I read one review before watching this... and I did not expect the ride I was taken on in this film.

The acting is really good, flawless, even.

The scenes (set design), outstanding.

This is a story about humans investigating the possible return to Earth after abandoning it due to depleting it's resources.

There are well played out twists that engage the brain in unexpected ways. And I don't recall seeing a film with a plot line like this one. It's quite original, and well done.

This was a great film to watch.

No. Stop. Go away. Damnit! Two minutes in, and I'm crying for the next five minutes! I'm a bloke.. I'm supposed to be tough. Why did this film make me cry? Straight up, the acting was without a doubt, superb. So that being said... don't read what this film is about, just watch it.

Wow! Difficult!
18 June 2021
Wow! This is a difficult one. Is she more credible than Lazar or Greer? No. Is she more believable than them? Absolutely!

Regarding who Dr Laura Gale is - I have no idea, like so many others, I've not found much except my own questions on forums. Based on that, I can only assume that a lots of 'not so important facts' have been changed, like her name, the TLA, boyfriends, childhood trauma.

What did impress me, is that it wasn't too sensationalised.

It did NOT have 30+ videos from unknown sources. It did NOT have opinions from 30+ people. Though Lazar makes an appearance for all of about 9 seconds - that was the moment I had a little cackle :) This could very well have been my story if I lived in America.

Surprise! Surprise!
10 May 2021
Wow! Not sure how this has escaped my attention until now. All three seasons kept me glued to the couch, except for Nature calls, and bed. The acting was superb! And the suspenseful scenes never left me feeling like I had a brick stuck in my stomach, rather, the 'hints' offered lots crazy ways of how things were going to turn out, but none gave me that sick feeling.

Did I mention the acting? Superb!

And whomever was the IT consultant here deserves an award!

Dead set, this is worth watching!!

English
21 April 2021
Netflix said this was in English!! One point off for that. Average acting. Spoken language was eeh, argh, o, kah, poo, chum - with commas after every single word.

Cinematography was absolutely lovely!

Though the beginning and ending was very predictable.

Be Bored, or Be Boring!
19 April 2021
This film has one sort of half decent action/fighting scene. One sex scene without boobies. And then just some boring story about a bloke battling with the relationship he has with his daughter and ex wife.

Honestly, this movie looks like it was made just so the producers could put some text in at the end about the treatment of PTSD for veterans.

The acting was on par with low budget Australian films. I actually yawned a few times watching this piece of crap - cements my choice to avoid Australian films, always! Crap. Crap. Crap.

Go buy a notepad with nothing written in it, and read it a dozen times - you'll get more joy there than watching this utterly useless waste of time (MY TIME!!!!!), money, effort, and oxygen.

Very Nice
14 December 2020
Nothing really outstanding here (not my best choice of words). The acting was good. The actors were lovely. The film did touch me, though. It reminded me so much of my youth, falling in love, having a broken heart, and dealing with all the relationships a young person has to endure. I'd give it a 7/10, except the ending just didn't do it for me. I wanted more. Really worth watching if you have had and lost love, and don't mind reliving some of that good and bad part of your life.

Women's Lib
13 December 2020
A tiny woman is getting the crap beaten out of her by a bloke, suddenly she has the ability to find a flashlight/torch to shine in her opponents face, which distracts him, giving her the ability to overwhelm her opponent. Total, absolute., CRAP! This just seems to be a show about women proving they can beat men... in their dreams. I know it is not real, but this is beyond the acceptance of reality. Please just give us shows showing women barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.

Dead Horse
6 December 2020
This is a movie about a married couple with two children who relocate to the UK.

The acting is fine, but nothing happens in this film - NOTHING! My dead mother has a lot more to offer than this film ever could.

A terrible waste of time.

Don't Bother
6 December 2020
It looks like I may have been let down by my own expectations. Benedict Cumberbatch is %50 of what got my attention. The other %50 for the title.

The title did NOT live up to its name. And what a shame.

The movie went from nowhere to zero.

Go read a book instead.

Pathetic
2 December 2020
This has to be the most pathetic TV series I have watched in a long time.

There is suggestion of a romance... and, derr, it eventuates.

There's a bad scene that has to work out perfectly for the main characters, and it does.

This is the most predictable crap I have watched in a long time.

I kept watching in the hope it would get better and less predictable - this is like watching The Bold And The Beautiful.

If you watch this, make sure you are doing the ironing or the dishes at the same time.

Netflix should be ashamed!

Funny, Sweet, But...

Another Groundhog Day kind of movie. Not a lot of difference between the two. It is funny in some parts, mostly early on in the movie. A little bit of cute romance, but not really. The ending was a complete disappointment.

Atrocious
29 August 2020
Absolutely no direction in this film. The actors walked around as though they were at a funeral, when they were supposed to be moving with a purpose.

I'm sorry I didn't take note of the vote count on IMDB, I just saw the 7.1 and thought it must be better than the other film I was going to watch.

I'm spitting chips for wasting my time watching this.

Who Gave It A 10?
8 June 2020
Look at where the votes came from - one can easily see it was Caroline and her friends that gave it 10/10 - everybody else just about, gave it a 1/10.

Not Worth Watching - Ever!
15 March 2020
Absolutely pathetic acting. The Director should take up a job as a janitor at an old run down school that nobody likes. Several scenes where the criminal gets away by running into a crowd of people dancing, singing, and playing loud music or instruments (done so many times before, and it doesn't work anymore at all). "... your brother." "My twin." Like, we needed that line, because we're so dumb, right? That's how this movie treats it's audience - as though they are completely dumb. I'm a bloke, so it got two stars for the boobies.

Not Soap
27 July 2019
I read a newspaper review that said not to watch this crap.

Near the end of the 2nd episode I was almost willing to give up. But then the third and fourth episodes really got me gripped!

Initially this felt like watching The Bold And The Beautiful, Days Of Our Lives, The Young And The Restless - characters with baggage.

But then all of a sudden, there were actions, events, and dramas that hadn't necessarily played out in TV sops previously. I got hooked!

This is much better than Nightflyers!

A Reason To Forgive
2 March 2019
I live and work around inner Sydney and have seen a lot of graffiti. I've also seen the word "Lister" scrawled on walls and roller doors, etc. Actually I saw the word "Lister" so many times it was starting to kind of bother me. I couldn't see the purpose.

Then I saw this documentary and it all made sense.

This documentary takes the viewer on a ride with an Australian artist who started out very unassuming, to becoming well known in "art circles," having major peaks (and perks) in his life (wife, children), to nearly losing his sh17.

There did seem to be some 'crying wolf' moments; moments where it seemed like it was building up to something, but then nothing happened.

A documentary I truly enjoyed watching. It was worth it. And thank you to Netflix :)

Watch This!
2 April 2018
While I'm not into 'creature from the deep' type movies, this is not really one of those. It is more of a love story like I've never seen before...

There really wasn't any room for 'spectacular' acting, though the whole cast did their job delivering the character they were assigned.

The wardrobe and props departments also did a great job giving the film a 1950s type of look and feel. The same should also be said of the film crew.

But, back to the story...

There were a couple of times I expected a completely different reaction from characters (no spoilers). However the reactions were delivered smoothly, so smoothly, in fact, that they didn't bother me, or make me 'dwell' for longer than a moment.

Like I said near the beginning, it is a love story, of sorts, with a sci-fi / creature from the deep sort of twist to it, and, once again, no spoilers, there is a betrayal that goes on, but a betrayal that has no pain...

There is no reason this film should get less than a 7 out of ten.

A film truly worth watching, no matter what you prefer. It has a story that it delivers, and a story that is easily enjoyed.

And, probably best watched by mature audiences :)
