The Beekeeper (2024)
It was pretty good
I like most Jason Stratham movies. Some are corny, sure. This was corny. And the actress Emmy Raver-Lampman....more wooden than Pinocchio. She's just awful. The movie has some good action if you can ignore the hundreds of incorrect tactical moves and operations in the movie. I don't hate it, but won't watch again.
There seems to be several plot lines. Will Statham right the wrong? I don't think he does. And there are some scenes highlighting the bad guys in a neon office wearing silly suits and carrying microphones. Too far for me. I said it earlier but I can't get over it. Emmy Lampman is the most uncomfortable actress I've ever seen. Almost had pity on her for as terrible as she was. Many of us think we can do a better job than others in a certain job. I know I could act better.
Unhinged (2020)
So tired and predictable.
Some reviews have compared this to Falling Down. No. This movie is so predictable and the plot is really thin. (Opposite of Russell Crowe who is probably 250 pounds or more for this role). The victim does the dumbest stuff the entire movie; you are almost rooting for Russell Crowe. Doesn't try to get help. Cops are nearly non existent. Guess they really were defunded thanks to BLM. All the roads are always wet so they can emphatically drive through puddles. And at the end they tow a wrecked minivan on a flatbed upside down. How stupid can this get? The injured victim and child get no medical treatment at the scene where the bad guy finally dies after beating them. Kid was choked with an electrical cord and all he gets is a wet rag to mop up his blood.
The whole thing is just dumb. If you're just trying to kill time with absolutely nothing better to do, then this may be your movie.
Wild Horses (2015)
Almost mediocre
I like Duvall, Franco and Hartnett. But these three together is a really weird combo. They're supposed to be family but their chemistry is just off. And Luciana Pedraza is horrible. She's the most wooden actor I've ever seen.
The movie has many terrible edits including a car chase that is comically sped up, uses the same drive by clip twice, and reeks of low budget B movie vibes. If you watch closely, you might get a whiff of a plot.
4 stars is generous. Pass this one by.
Poldark (2015)
Reviewers are right
This series is very interesting and complex. I did follow each character's on screen personalities and I did enjoy the series; until season 5. What a train wreck. It's like they were just trying to fill time. Many other parts of the series will leave you unfulfilled. Warleggan never gets what he deserves. He almost kills himself but Dwight saves him. Ross and Demelza are constantly at odds. Ross does coke up with a new scheme late in season 5 but by then it's really too late for him to develop it fully. So they skip ahead 5 months. If you watch and stop at the end of season 4, you'll be good. You aren't missing anything with season 5. Great series if you ignore season 5.
F9 (2021)
I can only suspend belief so much
I like the Fast and Furious franchise. I've seen them all, and they were ok up until the fourth installment (Fast and Furious (2009)). The next one, Fast Five, is where things got stupid, and progressively worse with each release.
F9 is, in a word, stupid. Movies are meant to be a place where you might imagine yourself in the scene with the actors, or comedy relief, or a heavy drama. This movie makes one question the low standards of the actors. Can you imagine them reading the script, saying, "This is so damn stupid. But you're paying me how much?? Sure, I'm a Hollywood whore. Why not?"
The movie makes me wonder if it was written, directed and produced by dementia Joe and crackhead Hunter on a yearlong bender. What in the actual hell? If you lower your own standards and watch this dreadful installment, you risk coming away 25-40 IQ points lower than where you started. You're much better off watching Gigli or Battlefield Earth. I can't emphasize it enough. This movie sucks. Maybe I should have included some spoilers to save you two and a half hours.
Stagecoach: The Texas Jack Story (2016)
Worse than bad
This movie is dreadfully awful. Trace can't act to save his own skin. So many improbables and I quit at the 20 minute mark. Who knows what else kind of BS happens but I'll thankfully never know. Save yourself. Watch anything else. Skip it.
