who needs subtitles or dubbing
27 February 2021
Sobibor now watched via Netflix, is a rarity to watch a Russian language film and no need for subtitles or dubbing, I was simply transfixed by the movie . Excellent performances by the cast especially by an unrecognizable Christopher Lambert as Karl Frenzel. A must watch to understand the horrors of the Holocaust, with a nearly happy ending, at least for 400 of the inmates.

Live the Experience of a Real War... oh so human
23 July 2017
What has to be considered as one of the greatest films of all time, and a must see. Oh so human, running the whole gamut of human frailties, strengths and weaknesses, with great acting throughout, and Nolan as the new David Lean? This is a must at Oscar time, especially for the cinematography.

A genuinely real experience and snapshot of nine days, not just British. Where 192,226 British and 139,000 French soldiers – 331,226 in all – were rescued by the 700 little ships (British, Dutch and Belgium) and around 220 warships. On a personal note pity Nolan did not get hold of the PS Medway Queen. Which my father was evacuated from Dunkirk on, he would never talk about his Dunkirk experience.

Minor continuity error, the scene with Harry Stiles (good acting by the way) and others sitting on the beach. Nice shot of quayside container cranes in the background. Historical note; the first quayside container crane was not built until 1959!

Fresh and as exciting as watching the first Star Wars 38 Years Ago
16 December 2015
Just from a packed first showing @ 12:01 am in Exeter, UK of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (in 3D). Remarkably I saw the first in 1977 on a first showing, and subsequent ones in between.

Probably makes me a geek & definitely a Star Wars fan, however I did go to this viewing with some trepidation. New director, main characters, different studio.... could they keep it fresh and maintain the well worked recipe of success the previous six, George Lucas had conjured up?

The answer is J. J. Abrams & crew produced a total success, obviously created with love and affection of watching previous versions. Great story with continuity of the Star Wars saga, new graphics / CGI, but with a perfect blend of old characters with new, yet the familiar Star Wars places and technology.

A must see on the big screen, especially in 3d, for young and old whether a fan of the previous films or not. I can guarantee no one will be bored. Thanks Disney, and will book for a first showing for the follow up. Next year?
