Sound of Metal (2019)
A beautiful film.
Not only is this a great movie in reflecting the psychological difficulties of hearing loss, it can be taken into consideration to all people struggling with some sort of mental issue. The dedication Riz Ahmed showed to the role as well as his character did in the story can be very inspiring.
-SPOILERS FROM THIS POINT FORWARD-
It would also be worth noting the amazing directorial details like the fact that for the first part of him going deaf we have no subtitles, allowing us to merge with Ruben's mind and see the things he sees, we can't know what they're saying because neither does he, the exact moment we see him signing for the first time we get subtitles and now we're all part of the community and understanding each other.
The fact that he achieved what he was hoping for and it didn't really turn out the way he thought it would also gives a very realistic view on the problem, the relationship between him and Lulu was a nice touch as well, he did it mostly for her but even though she still loves and cares for him, she can never tell him that she's just not into it anymore, Ahmed's facial acting shows us clearly that he has figured it out from long ago and is in denial for a while up to the point he takes the big leap and decides to make the move and tell her that "It's okay" and move on.
Overall, great acting, great writting, great directing. One of my favourites this year.
Good Boys (2019)
I don't do this a lot but I had to for this movie.
Great comedy, if you like Seth Rogen kind of things this is totally for you. Kids swearing is one of the top things I've seen in negative reviews as a reason the movie sucks. Listen stop playing it good, you did it as a kid, I did it every kid in the world will swear just because their friends do and they think it's cool. It's no reason to shut down a laid back movie. Enjoy it for what it is. It's a movie go chill and have some laughs not citizen cane of 2019 give it a break.
Prisoners (2013)
Yet another Villeneuve gem.
The unique directorial approach this man has deserves a medal. Hugh Jackman gave one amazing and almost perfect performance along side Jake Gyllenhaal. You almost forget you're watching actors which might be one of the greatest compliments of them all. You won't be able to take your eyes off the screen and you won't even pause for a bathroom break. Can't recommend enough, mystery thriller at its best.
Gone Girl (2014)
Make more movies like this.
This is what I'm talking about. A mystery thriller that will keep you on your feet and have your heart pounding every second you watch it with anticipation for the next scene. That's what movies are about, great job from everyone in this, totally recommended.
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015)
Exactly what a life long fan of Star Wars wanted to see.
It was basically all a life long Star Wars fan wanted to see excluding the haters that existed, exist and will continue to exist to the end of time that will say that it completely ruined the franchise and that "Star Wars is dead" and will never enjoy a new star wars film no matter what it is as long as it isn't the ORIGINAL EPISODE IV FROM 1977. Despite having a few similarities to episode IV (A New Hope) it does't keep it back from being fresh, with a lot of adventure, a sense of nostalgia and rewarding every fan with what he was hoping to see. Glad they finally released an awesome Star Wars film after the disaster of episodes I-III that do have their good moments too, and we're waiting to see what is to come in the next few years with episodes VIII and IX. 100% recommended and even if you haven't watched a Star Wars film before, start by watching Episodes IV-VI then I-III and finish up with episode VII (The Force Awakens) to continue the story next year. Thank you all, hope you are a true fan and that you will enjoy the movie, may the force be with you (it has truly awakened).
