Army of the Dead (2021)
FILM'S TITLE IS A REFERENCE TO THE MAKER'S BRAINS
If Tanaka need's only a Zombie's head, then why should he cover it up with a Heist? He could simply send his team to kill the first zombie they encounter and get it's head. This makes the entire film meaningless.
Oldeuboi (2003)
NEITHER DISTURBING NOR REMOTELY ENTERTAINING. RATHER DISGUSTING!!!
After being kidnapped and imprisoned for 15 years, Oh Dae-Su is released, only to find that he must find his captor in 5 days.
So, how exactly does Oh Dae-Su find his captor? How does he get his revenge? Such an interesting storyline. Right? But what unfolds in the film left me with nothing but disappointment, regret and unpleasantness.
Here's everything wrong with "Oldboy".
*Main Character: "Oh Dae-Su" was introduced as a drunkard comic character and all we get to know about him before he was kidnapped is that he had a wife, a daughter and a friend. So, we were presented with nothing to root much for the main character.
*Captivity: (1) Oh Dae-Su is held captive for 15 years. But still he would be provided with a decent room, proper food and even TV for recreational purpose. How would anybody who wants to torture someone provide them with all such facilities? This doesn't make sense.
(2)One day, Oh Dae-Su watches TV and finds out that his wife had been murdered and he was framed for that. But Oh Dae-Su doesn't even cry after finding that out. He doesn't even recollect any memories of his wife and break down. Nothing. This makes his character so unrelatable and it doesn't create any interest to find out whether he escapes or not.
(3) Oh Dae-Su tries to escape from the building by digging a tunnel. But None of his captors care about that even when they could see him in the CCCT Stream. This makes the already boring escape plan more irritating. (Though we don't get to see the guards watching Oh Dae-Su trying to escape, we can understand that they can actually see him in the later part of the film)
*Dialogues: Dialogues are not oragnic and natural. They seemed too forced as if the characters are literary scholars.
*Scenes which are most important to the story telling are not shown properly and are left open as if this is some philosophy lecture. How does Oh Dae-Su know about that blue-dragon or purple-dragon blah blah blah?? I never understood how he traces back the place where he was held captive by tasting out food from all eateries in the town. We were not presented anything before like Oh Dae-Su eating food and enjoying it or.....atleast eating food with a presence of mind. Even in the only scene where he is provided with food, Oh Dae-Su throws it away. There is something seriously wrong with how the film proceeds leaving out all important stuff and adding some unrelated or gory sequences for shock value.
*Where are the police? Didn't Oh Dae-Su friend who was accompanying him reported to police after he disappeared out of thin air? Ok, He didn't report. What was his wife doing? Didn't police investigate whereabouts of Oh Dae-Su? Forget about Oh Dae-Su, Didn't the police care about all those missing people who were kidnapped by this mafia??
*When Oh Dae-Su comes out, his grief was not shown properly. It was presented as if he's desperate for revenge. But revenge for what?? For kidnapping him and helding captive for 15 years? YES. Great........... But, Doesn't he also want to avenge his wife's murder? Nope. He doesn't have any feeling for her. Fine......But atleast doesn't he want to find out his orphaned daughter and reunite with her? Nope. Fine.....But Doesn't he want to atleast find out where she is, how she looks like???. Nope. He doesn't even care for her....... This disappointed me as the makers deliberately made the character to behave illogically only to throw a convinient plot twist later.
*How come a drunkard like Oh Dae-Su become a great fighter and takes on 20 goons at one time without a trainer? Was he from some military background?? Nope. He learnt all that by watching TV while being held captive. Ok. But why did his captors gave access to such content to him when they wanted to torture him?? When Oh Dae-Su is that focussed to learn fighting, Why doesn't he think about why he was released? We don't even get to know what runs in his mind the entire film but still we have to root for him??
* Reason for Kidnap: Simply laughable. On his last day of school before being transferred, Oh Dae-Su sneaks out and finds out Woo-jin having sex with Lee Soo-ah who is Woo-jin's sister. Lee Soo-ah actually observes Oh Dae-Su peeping and tells it to her brother. Oh Dae-Su tells about this incident to his friend No Joo-hwan before leaving permanently. No Joo-hwan spreads it out and multiple rumors spread which make Lee Soo-ah dies by suicide out of depression. So, Woo-jin grows up and seeks revenge on Oh Dae-Su by kidnapping him. For this story to work out, Woo-jin should be presented properly atleast. No he is shown as a pervert brother who keeps clicking pictures of his sister's private parts shamelessly that too in school premises. He is the reason behind all the ill reputation that his sister made at school. If he had behaved properly with his sister, none of this would have ever happened. One more thing. How could Woo-jin assume that Oh Dae-Su spread such rumors within one day?? He atleast should think that after grew up right?? Everything that happens in this films puts human rationalities to shame.
*Reason for Releasing: This is a bit shocking but still doesn't worth the while. Oh Dae-Su figures out that he had been hypnotised and made to have sex with his own grown up daughter who was also hypnotized. Really? Does hynosis work that affectively?? If that is the case, then why 15 years of captivity?? Woo-jin could've used all those 15 years to tear apart Oh Dae-Su by making him do many things putting him to public shame. Noo.... Woo-Jin is a fool and a caricature. He is not intelligent nor remotely entertaining. His behaviour especially his annoying laughter tested my patience.
*While begging Woo-Jin to not let his daughter know about him, Why does Oh Dae-Su cut his own tongue? Does he believe that Woo-jin would care for him? Well, Woo-jin agrees.... But i don't understand what made him to do that considering everything that he had done in the film.
*Why does Woo-jin shoot himself?? What did he acheive? If he cared for his sister so much why didn't he blame himself and kill himself in the first place?? Isn't he the main reason why his sister die? Being irresponsible in the campus premises....that too with his own sister.
*What does the ending mean when Oh Dae-Su reunites with his daughter after getting hypnotized on will? What does that smile on his face mean? Is it the happiness to meet his daughter? Or Is it the happiness to reunite with his lover? Or Is it like he's now ok for an incestuous relationship?? DISGUSTING Cliffhanger.
*If Oh Dae-Su can meet with the woman who initially hynotized him and is able to talk to her normally, Why didn't he request her to hypnotize both of them again back to normal so that he can cherish his remaining life with his daughter whom he missed all those years??? Just for the sake of a cheap cliffhanger, the makers simply can't ignore human rationality. When hypnosis worked so effectively in the film where a daughter forgot her own father, then why is it not possible to hypnotize her (and Oh Dae-Su) again back to normal??
*If Oh Dae-Su is so desperate for revenge, why was he so soft on the woman who hypnotized him & his daughter??
Overall, Oldboy is nauseating experience and i think this movie is only for those anime lovers & who doesn't care about rationality and plausibility while watching a film.
Just because a film takes an unexpected turn at each and every single scene doesn't make it a good film. Whatever that happens even if it is unexpected should at least meet with minimal standards of a rational situations & the according human behavior.
"Be it a rock or a grain of sand.......in water they sink as the same".
Despite having very good action sequences, "Oldboy" sunk deeper and deeper to abyss due to poor character development, incoherent plot development and cheap cliffhangers.
District 9 (2009)
Irrational Behaviour of Characters, Illogical Plot & Annoying Shaky Cam makes District 9 Neither Inspiring Nor Funny.
Plot: In 1982, a giant extraterrestrial spaceship arrives and hovers over the South African city of Johannesburg. An investigation team finds over one million malnourished aliens inside, and the South African government relocates them to a camp called District 9. However, over the years it turns into a slum, and locals often complain that the aliens are filthy, ignorant lawbreakers who bleed resources from humans.
Following unrest between the aliens and locals, the government hires Multinational United (MNU), a huge weapons manufacturer, to relocate the aliens to a new camp outside the city. Piet Smit, an MNU executive, appoints MNU employee and his son-in-law Wikus van de Merwe, to lead the relocation.
Things that bothered me while watching District 9:
1. Shaky Cam: During the scenes where Wikus starts relocation program, i can understand that some cameraman from MNU is filming the entire process. But, why does this shaky cam effect continue even after the actual film starts?? This makes the film very annoying to watch.
2. Aliens: Visually, Aliens in this film look like robots made out of trash cans. In the beginning of the film , they say that all of those aliens are somewhat working class level and lack knowledge of operating their space ship. But towards the end, two aliens are shown as highly intelligent and know how to operate the ship. So out of 1 million aliens, only 2??? That too, one of them is just a kid alien. Who taught that kid alien (who is supposedly born and brought up on earth) to operate the space ship masterfully even in the absence of his father???
3. Why relocation of aliens to a new camp outside Johannesburg requires approval from aliens? Does Aliens have voting rights? Does MNU want to get approval from 1 million aliens??? (This is the biggest plot hole that doesn't convince you to take the rest of the film seriously)
4. During the process of getting approval from aliens, Wikus walks from house to house asking the aliens to approve the relocation. (Are you kidding me?) We can understand from this sequence that Wikus can understand the alien language and aliens too could understand English. Then what's the fuss the film is all about? Relocation??
5. If humans are able to understand alien language, Why don't the MNU and other agencies all around the world study those aliens and research about them? Why can't they discuss with them and if required torture them to get answers for the basic questions like: Which planet they came from? Why they came here in the first place? Why they couldn't operate their space ship anymore? Why they simply chose not to land even after 3 months? How could they communicate to their planet from here? They could study and understand how to use their weapons. They could send some 100s of scientists along with military personnel into their mothership to study it. During those 20 YEARS they are not at all interested to do any of those. All they care about is to how to spend millions of tax payers money to give some room to alien life on earth so that they could populate and destroy us one day.
6. How on earth would the governments of the world allow some nigerian mafia to maintain their base in district 9? Is it that easy to breach?
7. In the film, Wikus slowly begins transforming into alien when he accidentally spills a black fluid (FUEL FOR ALIEN SPACESHIP) onto his face. How does the fuel for alien space ship transform a human being into one of them? What kind of a logic is that? Does spilling petrol/diesel on one of those aliens transform them into human beings too??? RIP LOGIC
8. After that incident, Wikus also gets attacked by an alien that breaks his arm. He later goes home in a pathetic state. One can simply look at him and understand that the man is almost dying. But guess what....His family and friends doesn't bother about this appearance and organize a surprise birthday party. Wikus excuses himself, goes to bathroom and finds out that his finger nails are literally coming out. He doesn't call his wife and explain her. Even his wife doesn't bother to study him & understand. None of the guests bother to look at his fingers even when they shake hands with him. Poor guy will then be forced to cut his birthday cake. Obviously, he understands that none of them actually care for him and all they care about is birthday cake. Guess what. He pukes on the birthday cake and gets his revenge. Hurrah!!!
9. After taking him to hospital, Wikus hand magically transforms into an alien's hand. No idea what the writers were thinking. I guess it is acceptable if the film is a Sci-Fi based horror comedy, but it isn't. The film tries to be too serious. The next minute an entire batallion of army comes and wraps him up in a plastic sheet (Yeah) and takes him to a Lab as if they are waiting for years for someone to transform into an alien. Then doctors/ scientists conduct some experiments with him against his wishes. They don't even talk to him about their plans and try to convince him to cooperate. They don't even try to convince him by saying something like he's about to change the entire human race. For that matter, we don't even know what the hell they are even planning to do with him. They simply torture him and force him to handle alien weapons just to confirm that he's able to use them. All those scientists are least interested to know how his hand miraculously got transformed into alien's hand. If they investigate into that matter, they could've released him simply and experiment the same on military personnel. There wouldn't be any mess like shown in the film.Wait a second. I'm also losing my common sense.When the scientist already knew in the first place that only aliens could use their weapons due to some DNA encryption, why couldn't they genetically create such suits with alien DNAs to use their weapons and technology?? Is 20 years not enough for that???
10. If MNU doesn't care about a fellow human being and even their own employee like Wikus & conduct experiments by torturing him, why would such an organization send Wikus in the first place to take approval of aliens for relocation????? Does it make any sense at all? Why do they even care about aliens instead of forcefully relocating them? If such thing happens, the entire film would have been completely different.
11. When Wikus escapes from MNU by placing pistol on some doctor, why the military lets him go?? Is that doctor that important than their experiments? Where did that humanity come from suddenly??
12. How does international media believe that Wikus is transforming into an alien due to sexual activity with aliens just because MNU reported? Why does the scientists in the other coutries keep quiet instead of trashing such reports? Why no other country try to rescue Wikus from South Africa? It seems that everybody got simply used to aliens and are no longer interested in them.
13. When Wikus escapes and hides in District 9, his wife calls and tells him that she doesn't want to see him anymore. He simply cries and lets her cut the call. Why Wikus can't put efforts to make her listen to what he had to say? Why can't he explain his own wife that the infection is due to that black fluid? Why can't he tell her that he had been tortured by MNU? Why can't he ask her to get media support?
14. When Wikus learns from Christopher (Alien) that it takes 3 years for him to become a normal human being, why did he beat christopher and try to take away the space ship by himself? Why does he think that he could control it all by himself? What is he even planning to do? Go to another planet?? RIP Logic.
15. How could Wikus who doesn't even have a military background control that huge alien armour as if he was already trained by MNU for that?
16. In the climax, when that alien armour & it's bullets are literally piercing into & tearing apart people, how come more & more army personnel joined?? Why none of them fear for their lives? Why don't they wear specal protective gears? Why can't they bring some tanks? Does the makers consider audiences as fools? How come the main antogonist who didn't fear the bullets tearing apart humans, suddenly starts fearing for his life when a bunch of aliens that he never ever feared gang up against him? That too with a machine gun in his hand?
17. If Christopher (Alien) & his son had a plan to escape from earth, when didn't they involve rest of the aliens in it? Why didn't they bother to discuss with them? Why didn't they even try to rescue them? Don't they have any trust/unity amongst themsleves? If so, how come they travelled light years together to another planet?
18. When the spaceship is crashlanded by Wikus after military attacks him, where did the rest of those "Million" aliens go? Why didn't they go into that spaceship and try to operate? If those aliens are intelligent enough to invent & use such sophisticated arms and machines and travel to another planet, why do they lack the common sense to go and check their own crashed spaceship? For 20 years, why don't they even discuss within themselves about their escape plan? Why only 2 aliens are intelligent enough to plan that??
19. Apart from Christopher, his son and a friend, nothing is shown in the film that makes us believe that the aliens talk to each other and maintain close bonds. Then how come the makers expect to believe that those bunch traveled together to another planet???
20. The climax shot hints that Wikus has now been completely transformed into an alien. But he still seemed to be in District 9. Then what the hell happened to relocation program? Why is he allowed to roam freely as an alien and why suddenly MNU lost interest in him?
21. Finally, what's the point of keeping a million aliens for 20 years on earth when none of the governments are least interested to airlift them for studies nor any of them are actually using them in any means for benefit of human kind?
The Vast of Night (2019)
Do they 90 minutes to sell this crap?
1. The opening 20 minutes of this film can be chopped off as it had absolutely nothing to do with the film. During this time, The lead actor (From here "Boy") 's accent is unbearable that one wouldn't understand what he is speaking without any subtitles. I felt like slapping him and also the director for not correcting him. The lead actress (From here "Girl") talks incessantly and she is not only loud but also annoying.
2. The camera placements were so irritating that a probable nice close-up shot was taken as a long one.
3. Unnecessary long takes where nothing happens. After the first 20 minutes nonsense, the girl starts operating switchboards and observes some eerie noises. The director chose to tell this through a luxurious 10 mins long closeup take of the girl. What harm did we do to go through this? Choosing to watch this film?
4. There are some track shots for about 5 mins where we get to see some roads, houses and a basket ball match which are annoying to the core and absolutely time fillers.
5. Some guy named "Billy" calls and tells his story about his classified missions during his time in army. You already heard those stories. Though this is important to the film, You don't need to watch the screen while this story runs.
6. Why does the girl keeps running from one place to another even when the boy has a car to pick & drop her? All those scenes can be chopped off saving atleast 10 minutes.
7. What's with those frames at random places? (5 mins can be saved by editing that out)
8. Then, an old woman calls them to visit her place as she has a story to tell. She blabbers something for 15 minutes. Whereas the essence is of only about 5 minutes. She lost her son to "people from sky".
9. In one scene, the boy and the girl happen to meet some guys (don't know whether they are friends or some random people). They literally shout at each other very loudly that we don't understand what the hell is wrong with all of them. It was absolutely annoying and one of the most unnatural conversations I ever saw in a film.
10. Now, The girl runs (again) to get her toddler sister. During the entire scene, she keeps yelling at everybody around.
11. At last, people from sky takes not only the boy and the girl but also her toddler sister.
12. Very good. What the hell is law enforcement doing when school kids are airing interview about classified material? Don't they use radio?
Finally what I want to say is that the makers could chop off 60 minutes length without any affect on what they want to tell. Even during the remaining 30 mins, one can simply listen without bothering to look at the screen. Anyway there's literally nothing on the screen. The climax shot is also not effective making "The Vast of Night" a complete waste of time & energy for viewers.
Portrait de la jeune fille en feu (2019)
Listen to Vivaldi by watching your favourite paintings instead. Coz This film is an epitome of borefest.
"The Portrait of a Lady on Fire" is incredibly slow, excruciatingly boring and literally empty that only a handful of people in the world can actually watch it. This section of audiences include people from film fraternity, film academicians, critics, painters/artists, art film lovers and lesbians. This film had nothing to offer to audiences in general, be it in terms of entertainment or in an artistic sense. Adding to this, with barely any background score, this film is very hard to sit through (Forget about Entertainment/Enjoyment).
The title, "Portrait of a Lady on Fire" is so misleading as it literally had nothing to do with what actually happens in the film. Even the painting she describes in the film as a Portrait of a lady on fire is actually a Landscape. Lol.
In the very beginning of the film, when the painter is traveling on a boat to the island, one of her canvas falls into the sea. I was expecting one of the rowers (men) would jump into the sea to bring it back. Nope. Our strong female protagonist painter doesn't need any help. She jumps right into the sea and gets her canvas back. What does feminism has got to do with this scene? Not even today, if something like that happens, Men wouldn't allow a lady to jump into the sea. Because Men will be Men.
In a nutshell, the film takes, luxuriously, around 1 hr to actually begin and takes another 1 hr to end. So, what happens in the middle? Nothing. The two ladies make love a couple of times & The painter finishes her assignment. Though, Two ladies become emotionally connected in the film, audiences were not given even a single scene to emotionally connect to the film.
Coming to the climax, this film had a decent pre-climax where the Painter witnesses a painting of her lover, posing with her child and a book which had number 28 on it. The film could've very well ended there. But, nope. It ends with a very lengthy Shot where her lover breaksdown listening to Vivaldi at an Orchestra. Unlike Brokeback Mountain or Cinema Paradiso, the climax doesn't evoke any emotions at all. Because we don't get to know the connection between the characters and the famous Vivaldi Score. Apart from a single scene, there's nothing that actually connects the characters with the score. I personally felt that the climax is a fiasco as anybody can become emotional when they listen to classical music & Vivaldi had no in-depth emotional connection to memories of her lover. {Unlike Brokeback Mountain where Health Ledger breaksdown carrying Jake Gyllenhaal's Shirt and in Cinema Paradiso, where Salvatore gets emotional while watching a montage of censored kisses from his childhood favorite films, the filmmaker, here is too lazy to write anything unique that she forcibly tried to invoke audiences emotions through an already famous classical masterpiece}
PS: To understand the meaning of number 28, one should watch this film. But I strongly recommend not to watch this "lazily made" film at any cost. Unless someone forcibly make you watch at a gunpoint.
Tumhari Sulu (2017)
Another Overrated Bollywood Junk!!!
The film stars Vidya Balan as the titular character, an ambitious housewife who becomes a radio jockey for a late-night show where she has to talk in a seductive manner to random callers.
When the premise of the film is compromising, nothing, I say no matter how good other things in the film are, it impacts overall film ( adversely)
1. If Sulu can do anything, why can't she do something that normal housewives, in general, do to support their families? (Some business in the lines of a handlooms/food/Paintings. Nope. The makers aren't inspired by such women.They want to push their own agenda that it's ok for woman to do whatever she feels right, Irrespective of what society thinks). {- 1*}
2. Why didn't the radio atleast comeup with a fictional name for the show? Why does it have to be Tumhari Sulu? Is Sulu that dumb to object using her actual name? What happened to her husband? {- 1*}
3. Did Sulu think of repercussions, if the school in which her son studies, comes to know about her work? {-1*}
4. Why Sulu's twin sisters and her father are depicted as someone who always look down on her? So that later, when they question her choice of work, makers don't want audiences to support their view. How convenient? {- 1*}
5. Does Sulu has to go to work, when her son is suspended from school and her husband wants to send the kid off to his aunts' place? { Nothing was shown her consoling the little kid. It's no wonder he walks away from home later} {- 1*}
6. Finally, when she's about to quit her job, why does she have to feel so emotional? Is that job more important to her than her family? Is she some Undertaker quitting WWE or some employee (Woman/Man) retiring after serving 20 years in that company? {- 2*}
7. When she got an idea of food business, why does she have to resume working as that late night RJ? Why did she quit in the first place? Isn't it because she regrets working late night and not being able to take care of her family? Then how that food business going to resolve her problem? {- 1*}
8. In this film, she tells her husband that her role as a late night RJ is just acting. Yeah. It's acting. But, Do the people who call her also act? {It's obvious that no decent people would participate in such shows. No decent families would allow their mothers/Wives/Sisters to host such cheap shows targeted at cheap audience just to make quick bucks} {- 1*}
9. Vidya Balan is effortless. Manav Kaul did a fab job. I wish he gets better work. {+1*}
What most people couldn't get is the fact that film reviewers are now S**T Scared to give low ratings for Women Centric movies. I guess that they are afraid of being branded as sexists.
Court (2014)
Are Critics Outta their minds? Skip this for your own good
You can read the storyline on IMDb. There is no such thing called Screenplay. There is no particular director needed to make this. There are no professional actors in the film. So, there's nothing to look out for. Literally speaking, this film is so amateurish that makes YouTube Short films by Buddy filmmakers look mainstream. The film is just a compilation of randomly shot videos that had little or nothing to do with the film. Is there anything that this film wants to convey? Yes. But the problem is that the message was communicated as uninterestingly as possible. How can a lazy filmmaker,who can't even develop a storyline into an effective script, expect the audience to sit through 2hrs of B.S, only to remind them of what they already know about India's Judicial System??? The same message that this film wants to convey can be communicated very effectively through any
* Short film
* Documentary of similar case
* YouTube Commentary etc.
"Court" is neither an art film nor remotely entertaining. If they keep sending this kind of S**T to Oscars, I wouldn't be surprised if, one day, The Academy writes to Indian Jury to not send films any further....
The Babadook (2014)
How to not raise your child {Exclusively for Sickos}
There are B movies which don't take themselves seriously, have an over-the-top premise, Simple Characters, Okayish VFX, Low-Mid level budgets and But never fail to entertain. I appreciate such films and makers behind. Sometimes, even major studios also follow them to deliver entertainment. I enjoy such films as well. On the other hand, there are films with a believable premise, Interesting Characters, Good VFX and Mid-High Level Budgets. They too turn out great.
And then comes some filmmakers with dumb premises being forced upon viewers as something serious and intelligent with completely Non-Likable Characters and High level budgets. They'll go to any extent to push the film as an intelligent work, even to the lengths of Buying off Critics. "The Babadook" come into this category.
The atmosphere of this film is very depressing making this a hard watch and very disturbing. Adding to it, it has characters that we don't care about.
There are only three main characters in this film :- Mom, Son and The Babadook.
Son:- This little guy is born on the same day his father dies. He is very creative and believes in Monsters. Not so uncommon in a 6 year old kid. He listens to his mom's bedtime stories every night before he sleeps. So, what is so unlikable about this character?
He believes in Monsters so much that he even makes weapons to kill them. He even takes them to his school endangering the lives of other kids. He never listens to his mother. He does dangerous stunts like climbing on top of an Outdoor Swing. He can't even keep calm and annoys other kids. When the other kids resent, he even assaults them.
Mom: She is a single mother. She faces very hard time to pull through life and take care of her only child. She completely fails as a mother as she couldn't teach her son anything about morals/values/discipline. All she does is reading Bedtime stories to him at night. On the top of that, when her son brings a random book named "Babadook", she behaves so irresponsibly and opens it and reads it to him, only to know that it's not kids friendly. Though she later closes it, she should've personally seen that before she read. She never throws her kid's dangerous tools away (including a wooden gun). Instead, she lets him keep them. The most annoying thing about her is she never ever slaps her kid despite he being so mischevious. {I'm an Indian and I'm grateful to my Mom for slapping me when I was messing around as a kid. As a result, I had a wonderful childhood :)}
The Babadook: So, When both the characters are so annoying, we can only hope for the Babadook to save this film. Disappointingly, we don't even get to see the Babadook. His Modus operandi is very confusing. At one point of time, he comes like a Man with a Black suit and a hat. Other times, he comes as some bat like creature. He even comes like the deceased husband. To say that all appearances of the Babadook are Cringeworthy is an understatement. Simply put, The Babadook has no character whatsoever.
Now, let's talk about the atrocious things done by the characters and some annoying moments:
1. Why can't the Mom take her Child to a doctor, when he behaves so fanatically?
2. When the kid hugs her, why does she shouts at him to not to do that?
3. When the School Correspondents advice her that her son should be kept seperately for his own good, why didn't she agree? They correctly say that he's a threat to other students.
4. Why did she allow his kid to carry around dangerous weapons like a wooden Gun which shoots nails and Cork Balls?
5. When she herself witnessed a sinister presence, why didn't she rush for help? She could've gone to a church father or a paranormal investigator/ deamonologist.
6. When the book returns to her, why didn't she take it to a police station in the first place? Why after burning it? Is she a 5th grade kid?
7. What the hell is the book "Babadook"? Who wrote it? What does he want? What's his Modus operandi? Nothing was shown interestingly.
8. Last Act: This is one of the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in a film. Just like The Shining, the Mom goes crazy and tries to kill her own child. But unlike The Shining, where we wish that the kid should escape, I never felt an iota of sympathy for this kid. Because, he stabs his mom with a kitchen knife. Beats the S**t Outta her with some kinda baseball bat and ties her up with rope, literally putting the likes of Superman to shame. Why does he tie her up? So that she could fight the Babadook and release him from her head. Wow. A 6 year old kid figured out everything on his own.Kudos. Somehow she manages to get rid of Babadook and The Babadook also cooperates with her. They kinda come to some terms and according to that pact, The Babadook goes into a basement behind staircase and the mom locks the door. What did i watch?
9. Why, in the first place, she starts feeding the Babadook? How does she figure out that he preys on earth worms? Why the hell didn't she go to a priest, atleast now, to get rid of it completely?
10. Poorly written neighbouring old woman character. I wish she turns out as a Hero in the film. But nothing was written as such. So shame!!!
With disturbing atmosphere, Non-Likable Characters and their Irrational behaviours, The Babadook takes itself too seriously & tries so hard to be a path-breaking horror film.Whereas, in reality, it's just another horror film that's not only a bad one but equally disturbing to watch.
PS: In the scene where the kid pushes his cousin off from a wooden house, I wanted to stop watching this film. But, I continued to watch, only to make sure that this film is as bad as I predicted. It turns out to be much worse.
The Invisible Man (2020)
A Potential Thrilling Slasher Flick Ruined By Incoherent Motives and A Casting Fiasco
"The Invisible Man" is about how a genius Optics Engineer (33 yr old Oliver Jackson Cohen), obsessed with his wife (38 yr old Elisabeth Moss), invents a suit that makes him invisible, solely for the purpose of tormenting her. Only God knows what he wants from her.
Apart from the storyline, the biggest disappointment in the film is the casting of Elsiabeth Moss as the leading lady.
Not all scripts, necessarily, demand an attractive leading lady but this film does. Coz, The entire film revolves around her husband's obsessed of her. Unless people find her incredibly attractive, the reason behind her husband's obsession can't be convincing enough to root for her character. Elisabeth Moss is neither attractive nor delivered an effective performance.
Apart from that, the film is filled with other plot holes and irrational character behaviours like below:
1. Throughout the film, The leading lady laments that her husband controlled & abused her. So, why can't she file a case against him? Why should she run and hide? Why can't she use media to expose him?
2. How could Cecilia's sister believe that her sister sent a hate mail despite she denying any knowledge of Such mail? Wouldn't she get suspicious? Or is she not her real sister?
2. When Sydney is attacked by Tom (Invisible Man), why would she blame Cecilia for that? Even a kindergarten kid would scream that a Ghost attacked him.
3. How can the invisible man get rid of the paint?
4. Why police didn't bother to investigate the murder of Cecilia? Why didn't they check CCTV footage?
5. How could the invisible man reach his house from Cecilia's friends place? Did he use a private jet with Invisible suit? Or did he use a car? Or is it Tom's brother in the suit? In either case, how come Cecilia never noticed a vehicle outside the house When she comes out?
6. Now, the most annoying part. The hospital action sequence. Cecilia stabs Tom with a pen making him partly visible. He murders the first police which is reasonable coz he saw him. But, if Tom's motivation is to Pin Cecilia for her sister's murder, why the hell should he go on a killing spree? What's the motive behind it? Does he now want to become like Thanos, all of a sudden? It was really annoying to see Tom killing each and every police officer that comes despite they not noticing him. He could have simply escaped pinning the police's murder on his wife as well.
7. When Tom is about to kill police officers, why didn't Cecilia try to shoot him from back? Never mind. Now, when Tom escapes from hospital, why didn't she try to convince police of existence of invisible man, through CCTV footage? She could very well seek their protection. Nope. She also escapes, steals a vehicle and chases her husband, because she's a strong woman who can fight injustice.
6. When Invisible Man attacks Sydney at the end, how could he quickly move from bedroom and attack her from front, despite the space being so narrow? Can he pass through people?
7. If Tom's brother is in the game, what's his motivation?
8. At the end, when Tom says that his brother controlled him, what does he mean? We don't get to know his version, because Cecilia murders him by using the suit that she stole. She also gets away from that murder, thanks to her cop friend.
9. Why didn't Tom use all his strength to protect himself from Cecilia cutting his throat? Is he that weak?
Could Tom be completely unaware of any such suit? Maybe yes, cause he might have been controlled by his brother throughout. Maybe he didn't fake his death. But his brother made all that, when Tom's unconscious. It could be true that he was held captive in his own basement. Anything is possible in a Leigh Whannell film.
Considering the history of Mr. Whannell's writings, he might have very well written a similar plot twist .However, due to ongoing #MeToo movement (as stated by previous reviewers) he might have been forced to change the script.
Anyway, as this is a standalone film, the ending makes this film a major disappointment as I'm not at all concerned about the female lead.
PS: Wouldn't have expected much from any unknown filmmaker.
But, as it's a Leigh Whannell film, I was waiting for the usual mind blowing plot twist at the end, which to my surprise, is............................................. that there isn't any.
Dil Bechara (2020)
Sushant Doesn't Need this!!!!
I didn't know SSR before Kai Po Che, even when he was a huge TV star then. But the moment I saw Kai Po Che's trailer, Promo Songs, I became a fan of him. That's quite rare as many viewers become a fan only after watching a film.
Dil Bechara is the last film of Sushant. That's enough reason for fans to watch the icon for one last time on screen. However the film doesn't live upto it's expectations. The filmmaker failed to capture the soul of the story completely.
Reasons are listed below:
1. Cliched Opening: The film starts with lead actress voiceover narrating Granny's fairytale that's so Cliche. The narration part is very ineffective and fails to build a momentum.
2. Screenplay is terrible. It's unnecessarily so fast that characters are forced to be accepted with whatsoever little we know about them.
3. Manny's Character was so poorly written. They tried to bring the vintage SRK's flavour to the character that it doesn't make you feel for him whatsoever. In a film like this, the lead characters must be written so carefully as both are suffering from terminal illness. Sushant gave his best. But the writers didn't give him a proper character.
4. Supporting Characters were underutilized: Manny's friend JP has more screen time. But his character doesn't make you feel for him despite becoming blind. Manny's Granny is shown barely in the film. The veteran actress'potential was not utilised at all and if given more screentime, it would definitely add a lot to Manny's character.
5. The Unfinished Song: Though it was a decent composition...it's not much impactful considering the importance of the song to the entire film. The picturization of the song was also pale. Simply the song doesn't make you crave for more and more as it should do.
6. The Cringeworthy Short film: Both lead actors make a short film (supposedly inspired from Rajni films), which is so obnoxious to watch. The worst thing about it is, though it starts as a tribute to Rajni, the makers take it so ludicrously that it ends up as a tribute to SRK and DDLJ.
7. Irritating Abhimanyu Veer: When the film isn't going anywhere, I thought, Saif Ali's cameo might create a right impact, forgetting everything happened before. But once he enters, you would feel begging him to leave. His character is so irrational and tests audiences patience. It ends up çreating a worst impact on the film....that if it were not for Sushant, I would've stopped watching it instantly.
For some so talented like Sushant... who did terrific job in his previous films, this film is so underwhelming. Anyway, as he already gave us masterpieces before, I was not looking forward for much as a fan.

The Dollmaker (2017)
Blew my mind away!!!!
There are films which are hailed as masterpieces despite being boring throughout, just because of their impressive Plot-twist at the end (I Don't want to name any).
It just took 10 mins for filmmaker AI Lougher to literally blew my mind away with an impeccable script and chilling final reveal.
Brilliant Direction, Brilliant Acting, Brilliant Photography, Brilliant What Not.
PS: This is the first Short film I've ever watched and now, literally every other short film that I'm watching is falling short of expectations.
The Family Man (2019)
-2 Stars for below reasons
1. Forced Sympathetic Narrative of Kareem:
So, when Kareem & his partners just want to mix-up Beef in the food at a MP's birthday party, why didn't they simply stop the vehicle & shown the food? They could've bribed the police (if beef is supposedly banned in that state). No. They turn back & try to escape. After finding police on the back as well, they turn around & keep driving. When they come to know that police have surrendered all directions, one of them gets out & starts shooting at police & this makes the police believe that they are terrorists, eventually killing all three of them. If Kareem hadn't done anything wrong, why didn't he just surrender when Both of his partners died? Why did he try to escape? Why did he try to hit a policeman with a rod?
After they know that Kareem & his partners aren't terrorists, An entire narrative is built around Manoj Bajpayee regretting to have killed them. This is ludicrous because, though they aren't terrorists, their behaviour & actions led them to be killed. So...why is all that narrative being forced on viewers that they're innocents.
No innocent would carry a gun & try to shoot armed police officers. They may not be terrorists. But they aren't innocents either. I waited that someone says this. But none. Because...makers didn't want that.
2. Priyamani character's affair with her colleague. Coz.... cheating hurts more than physical assault & I hate characters indulging in Such. ( The makers might have plans to use this track to give a major plot twist in second season. But, If that's not the case, then, this entire sub-plot is written just to extend the length)
3. First 5 episodes were so brilliant that I felt like...how could they make it so perfect? But the later episodes (including the final one) weren't that engaging (exception being the Hospital episode where moosa escapes, which is mind-blowing).
4.Neither of the Plans (A/B) of mission zulfiqar were plausible & engaging enough, considering the entire season was based on them. Ironically, Plan B was easier than Plan A.
5. Manoj Bajpayee's son playing with a Gun: This scene was a very bad choice because the kid I saw from the beginning isn't that dumb.
I enjoyed Family Man much more than Bard of Blood, but ended up rating both 8/10.
Because, though, Bard of Blood S01 starts normally, runs at a slow place, it has a mind-blowing climax.
On the other hand, Though Family Man S01 has blew my mind in the beginning episodes, it had a disappointing climax.
Tanu Weds Manu (2011)
Anand L Rai's Fantasy Rom-Com Sucks!!!
This film can't be called as love story in any true meaning. Because the lead characters in this film are mere caricatures, created by Anand L Rai, who eventually are forced to get married only to end the film.
Manu (Madhavan) returns to India, on behest of his parents, to get married.
On his way to meet a girl for match, he gets ambushed. Just like in a Video game, he gets up, tidy himself and goes to meet the girl.
In a bizarre matchmaking meet, he sees Tanu (Kangna) who is actually in no condition to meet him & falls asleep without even uttering a word. He is smitten by her beauty and plants a kiss on her cheeks and also takes a picture of her (WHEN SHE IS LYING UNCONSCIOUS).. Insteadling of telling her family that he wants to talk to her after she wakes up, he tells them that he likes her. (Note that he didn't even have a conversation with her).
The next day, Tanu ABUSES him and tells him that she already has a boyfriend and she doesn't want to marry him (Manu). So, Manu cancels his marriage.
When Manu attends his friend's marriage, he accidentally meets Tanu, who happens to be the bride's BFF. Throughout the rest of the film, Manu keeps growing sweet on Tanu. Any rational girl would understand his feelings. But not Tanu. When Tanu's BFF tells her that Manu loves her a lot and he's leaving, Tanu runs to meet him only to tell him that her boyfriend, Raja (Jimmy Shergill) is going to come come the next day and unapologetically requests him to stay until she gets married. WTF? Why should she run to invite a man (who is in love with her) to her marriage. Isn't she matured enough to understand that it further breaks his heart? Manu somehow stays. He even shamelessly goes to register office, as a witness, with Tanu and Raja.
There....A ridiculous thing happens. Ironically, the marriage won't take place because the concerned officer's Pen's Ink Expires. LOL. They search for another pen but couldn't find one. Manu, though having a Pen, lies that he doesn't have any.
The next day, Tanu asks Manu to tell how he feels about her. Manu confesses his feelings for her. Before he could finish, Raja takes her away, as he comes to Know about Manu through his confidant (Ravi Kishan). Raja tells her that he feels no different than a MONKEY. Yeah! You heard it right! Tanu also says the same & the scene cuts. Next day, Tanu takes Manu into her room and asks him whether he loves her. (Wait, Doesn't she know about it by the way he behaved throughout. Ok. Didn't she hear him confessing in the previous day?). He says "Yes". She replies "How could I know if you don't tell me?". (Does the director took audiences for fools? Just asking).
That evening... Both Manu and Raja get ready as grooms. And when they confront Raja aims a revolver at Manu & tells him that he'd shoot him if he marries Manu.
He, then, as directed by Anand L Rai, delivers some Prepostorous lines.
In the beginning of the film, Manu refuses to marry Raja's sister as she has a disfuntional hand. Somehow it doesn't have any relevance to the film as Raja tells Manu that he's a good man and backs off.
Tanu and Manu gets married.
I seriously couldn't understand why Manu wants to marry Tanu, even when she was so mean to him? She never cared for him at all. And eventually when she simply choose to marry him over her boyfriend, Can't he think that the same can happen to him later?
The only thing that I liked about this film is Deepak Dobriyal. His comic timing is brilliant.
Badla (2019)
Same Plot holes as are in "The Invisible Guest"
First I watched the original and was disappointed with it's ridiculous screenplay & preposterous ending.
Meanwhile Indian Remakes came. First I watched Badla as I didn't like the Telugu remake "Evaru" trailer.
Badla was better in terms of acting and quality but it is a scene to scene remake. Thus repeating the same mistakes the original film did.
There's one scene in Badla that is so unnatural that it literally pissed me off. When Tapsee is near the dead body of her boyfriend & when police arrive, she says "will you help me?". In such scenario, which human would ever ask a policeman such a ridiculous question. Police are obviously there to help people. So, the natural reaction of Tapsee should be a sigh of relief.
As I didn't like both original and Hindi remake, I watched Telugu version just to know whether they repeated the same irritating mistakes. Fortunately, Adivi Sesh (Screenwriter) literally changed the entire screenplay and took only what's useful for him turning a "So-called masterpiece" into an "Actual Masterpiece". Kudos to him for understanding the plot holes in the original screenplay and rewriting it with PLAUSIBILITY.
The 15:17 to Paris (2018)
A film just made for the heroes and their families
I have nothing against the real life heroes here. I salute them for their Act of Valor.
Coming to the film, in general, if I like any Biopic, I feel for the character(s) and look out for them in the internet just to know more about them. However in this case, I just didn't feel for the characters at all. It's not their mistake. It's a casting fiasco.
With such poor ratings, I wouldn't have watched this if it was made by any other Director. It seems Clint Eastwood just wanted to make a film exclusively for the Heroes so that their children and grandchildren can watch at their reunions. Whoever wrote the screenplay deserves a Razzie. It was too amateur. Is there any need for Backstory during their primary school? No. Is there any need to show their boring Europe tour? No. And what's with that random scenes in between showing that terrorist attack? If I edit this film out, it would come around 20 mins. Remaining stuff is completely non sense. I think Clint would've asked his assistants to randomly shoot some stuff just to increase the length of the film.
A Quiet Place (2018)
Shame on the makers!!!
As other downvoters pointed out, this film is completely pointless with full of plot holes. The very basic premise is unsettling and implausible. Even if you force yourself to believe that such scenario maybe probable, still you find it ridiculous as the entire family could easily survive by staying near the waterfall.
I basically don't have any problem if any film turns out to be pathetic. Infact, it's our own choice to take the initiative to watch any film to begin with. However, I've a problem with the makers of this film as they tried so hard to convince that this is infact a serious post apocalyptic film, taking granted that the audiences are dumb. In order to sell this film, they even stoop so low by incorporating ridiculous elements like... Pregnancy which is totally avoidable, considering the scenario.
The characters behave so obnoxiously that they infact become a threat to their own family. It was quite evident when their little son dies in the opening sequence. I blame it on all other family members.
Father (For keeping the batteries within the reach of the kid).
Sister (For giving the toy against her father's advice).
Both the parents (For leaving behind the youngest member of the family ,a 3 year old I guess, in such a life threatening environment).
In addition to this, choosing to have a baby again and leaving behind a nail recklessly on the staircase etc..makes it absolutely disgusting to watch.
The Silence (2019)
A Decent film that doesn't deserve the hate it's receiving......
If you are a fan of Survival films and if you find the storyline interesting, then this film is worth watching. Why I say so is that the only thing that prevents you from ever watching this film is....negative reviews.
Those who rated this <6 stars may have focused on the flawed premise Or simply they might have watched a ton of similar films. But I personally feel that there is absolutely no reason that you could hate this film.
Many people may feel that the creatures are not as haunting as they are supposed to be. However, I personally feel that it's quite okay as we are shown from a perspective of a normal family. For a cinematic experience, we need a huge monster to feel the horror, but in reality, we can't even face a stray dog. So, it's convincing enough that a normal person can't protect himself when a couple of flesh eating bat like creatures prey on him. Not everytime the scenario need to be like " The end of the world". Here, it's more like protecting the family until the situation comes under control. So, this is more like a survival film rather than a post apocalyptic film.
The premise is similar to "A Quite Place" which I had rated 1/10. So what makes this different from A Quite Place?
The difference is that, from the beginning of the film, you seem to care more about the characters.
Not much time was taken to develop the characters but you would fall in love with them, especially the deaf daughter & the Grandma. What makes this film a decent one was that the characters behave rationally unlike in quiet place. This makes you ignore all the plot holes and anomalies in the premise. Instead we tend to care more for the characters.
The only problem with the film is the unnecessary introduction of a mysterious cult which was okay but doesn't add much to the film. Could've worked if it's a TV Series spanning multiple seasons. Instead the makers should've shown more about the family's journey to their ultimate survival.
In Quiet Place, the characters behave so ludicrously that they infact become a threat to their own family. It was quite evident when their little son dies in the opening sequence. I blame it on all other family members.
Father...for keeping the batteries within the reach of the kid, Sister...for giving the toy, both the parents... for leaving behind the youngest member of the family ( a 3 year old, I guess) in such a life threatening scenario. In addition to this, choosing to have a baby again and leaving a nail on the staircase etc..makes it absolutely disgusting to watch.
Whereas, in The Silence, each character cares for one another..
Stanley Tucci, the father...Does everything he could to save his family. Even killing the dog which is actually a threat to the family.
Uncle Glenn... Tries his best to lead his best friend's family (Tucci's)) to safety and threatens Tucci to leave him and take care of his family after meeting with a tragic accident.
Daughter... I'm totally in love with her for no reason at all. Though she's deaf, she exhibits an incredible presence of mind throughout the film. Infact, she's the one who finds out the ultimate path to survival.
Son... Doesn't have much to do but still adorable.
Grandma: the most lovable character in the film. When she comes to know that she's a threat to her daughter's family, she wants to sacrifice herself. She cares for her daughter so much that one would see their own mom in her. Ultimately, she sacrifices herself for her grand daughter when the cult wants to abduct her.
Mom....her relation with the Grandma is beautiful.
So that's what makes this film worth watching for...A family who cares for each other.
The only reason why I write this review is that I personally feel so bad for the makers when critics and audiences hail a ridiculous film like "A Quiet Place" made with a huge budget and pan a decent film like this.
Contratiempo (2016)
IMPLAUSIBLE!!!!
So, Elvira Garrido, Daniel's Mother pretends as Mrs. Virginia Goodman, Adrian's defence attorney, by using silicone mask and a wig and makes him do the following:
1. Point out the exact location on a map where Adrian dumped Daniel's Body. (How could Adrian exactly point out the location on a paper map? Nobody bothers)
2. Records the entire conversation in a Pen, around 3 hrs, and makes him admit that he killed Daniel as well as Laura. ( Can that be admissible as evidence in a court of law? Pl see below)
In the film's climax Virginia Goodman, as Adrian believes, transforms into Elvira Garrido. On seeing that, Adrián gets completely appalled and becomes hopeless. And the very next moment.....The real Virginia Goodman arrives. Tomás Garrido, Daniel's father, calls police. And the film cuts to ending credits.......
So, what happens next?
What the director wants:- He wants us to believe that there's no way that Adrián can come out of this case and he's gotta pay for what he did. i.e. he's gonna end up in jail.
What could happen:- The moment real Virginia Goodman arrives, Adrián can tell her everything that had happened and do whatever she says. As she had never lost a single case in her entire career, she could easily save Adrián. So, what's the point of the film?
The voice recording can easily be killed in court of law by Virginia Goodman. Coz there are only two voices in the recording: Mrs. Goodman's and Adrian's.
1. Obviously Elvira Garrido couldn't mimic Virginia Goodman.
2. Adrian is a successful businessman who would have given a number of press interviews. So, any professional mimicry artist could mimic his voice.
3. The mark of location on map may not be accurate to locate Daniel's Body.
So.. I've One word for this film. "IMPLAUSIBLE"
True Detective (2014)
Watched just season 1. Overrated POS!!!
I seriously don't understand why people are saying that season 1 was great and season 2,3 are garbage.
As the series is highly rated here, I started watching season 1.
First episode's over. Nothing happened.
I thought it was a slow burn and continued to watch, just to know why it was rated 9/10.
I kept on watching episode after episode even if I was feeling so disgusted at how it was turning out. (First, The investigation wasn't going anywhere. Second, whatever they are doing was plain boring. And at last, the series started to get personal where Woody Harrelson cheats on his wife and his wife cheats on him with Matthew McConaughey).
I thought atleast the climax would set off all the odds. But even the final episode wasn't that good. It was just fine making the entire season a pure disappointment.
If it was rated like 6 or even 7, it wouldn't have even watched this. Only fan boys are to be blamed for this higher rating.
If you are planning to watch this series, better avoid it and watch Bong Joon Ho's "Memories of Murder". What this series failed to deliver in whooping 8 hrs was perfectly depicted in around 2.5 hrs in that Korean masterpiece.
Jaanu (2020)
All about a Stalker and an Emotionally unfaithful wife.
Ram and Jaanu are childhood sweethearts who meet at their school reunion after nearly two decades. Although initially awkward, they soon start recollecting their past and resolve their differences. The film was OK until it is revealed that Jaanu(Samantha) is already married and is having a daughter. I was so curious to how the director will handle this sensitive & challenging subject. The problem with this film is the same innocence of the characters that all "so called critics" raved about. some people even went on stating this film as a tribute to poor love or a beautiful love story. But I find this film so misleading because I've problem with both characters of Ram and Jaanu.
PROBLEM WITH JAANU:
From the moment she arrives at the reunion and till she leaves, one can say that she's still in love with Ram. Is there anything wrong with that?-Depends on how she deals with it.
1. Throughout the film, she is just concerned about what happened after Ram and she parted ways and her regret about her choices. Only in one instance, she reveals about her husband. She says that her husband is understanding and a caring one. So that's it. Nothing is revealed about her daughter. Common, Does she love Ram more than her daughter? Her Husband and Daughter were sidelined as if they are irrelevant to Jaanu's life (and thus to the film)
2. She can talk to Ram. I've no problem with that. But, despite being a married woman with a daughter, her character behaves just like a single girl who desperately tries to rekindle her childhood romance.
3. When Ram's students mistakes her to be his wife and asks her to narrate their love story, she narrates an imaginative version where they are happily married. This is a very serious issue as she has emotionally cheated on her husband.
4. She even goes to Ram's house, cooks food for him and sings his favorite song. Though nothing physical happens, they kind of indicate that Jaanu hasn't yet matured enough to understand the gravity of her marriage and tends to be more of an emotionally unfaithful wife.
Some people may say that Jaanu's husband has to be matured enough to understand her, But, in reality, Jaanu must be matured enough to understand how to behave with someone other than her spouse (Be it a Childhood Sweetheart/Crush/Ex). She should do things in the same way as she would do in the presence of her spouse. Did she?
PROBLEM WITH RAM:
1. From the beginning of the film, Ram is shown as an innocent,shy,sincere and a bit coward lover. However, he admits that he will automatically come to know everything about Jaanu as he had setup people who would pass on information about her. Jaanu doesn't seem to have problem with it. But she does have problem with other guys stalking her in the film (Shown in a flashback sequence). So, Ram is a stalker. Though he might think that Jaanu hates him (reasons shown in the flashback), he continues to stalk her. what if She has actually moved on but her secrets are being shared among a bunch of boys. That's serious crime, dude.
2. He reveals that once he ambushes and beats up a boy who subsequently gets hospitalised stirring up a police case, just because the other boy also loves Jaanu. It's common that a boy would go on rage against anyone who is in love with his crush. Talking to him or warning him, though sound stupid, are tenable. But beating him up is nothing short of a crime. Jaanu laughs it off, Because the other boy is not her brother or Ram. So, Ram is not as innocent or coward as he is depicted. He has deeper violent thoughts.
3, Ram never bothers to ask about Jaanu's husband or atleast her daughter. OK. I'm sorry. I forgot that Ram is not yet grown up and matured enough to understand the situation.
Finally, the director has succeeded in handling this sensitive subject. Because he tried so hard to justify the acts of unfaithfulness, emotional cheating, stalking and immaturednes ( in the name of love ) and succeeded in fooling the self proclaimed critics and most of the general audience.
Hit (2020)
Another film that could change TFI forever...
"Not an edge of the seat thriller"; "Falters at the end", these are some stuff I read in reviews. Some even went on to give ratings like 2.5/3/3.25. I personally feel that it's high time these reviewers should just shut the up. I just want to know what's there competence to rate and review a film. I too watched great cinema just like any other movie buff. And I feel that Telugu Cinema needs someone (reviewer) who appreciates and pushes new talent rather than simply watching the film and being so critical about it. Atleast then, it would be encouraging for new filmmakers out there to come up with new/original content.
When Vishwak Sen quoted "Dr Sailesh Kolanu is the smartest director he might ever work with", I thought he is exaggerating to promote his film. But it turns out to be true. Despite being a debut film, the director wrote the smartest Telugu screenplay I've ever seen. It was so smart that your suspicious keeps Shifting from one character to another and convinces you that anybody could possibly be the criminal. It's very difficult for a filmmaker to establish such curiousity in the viewer right from the beginning and to carry it till the end.
The very objective of the director of any thriller film is to make the audience to make them suspect any character he wants to suspect. And the director excels in this. You don't suspect them just because the moment makes you so, but also due to the background of the character that was shown to you (deliberately by the filmmaker to divert your suspicion at a later point).
One can understand that a lot of research had been on how a homicide detective would investigate a case. And the Director deserves an applause for this. Because the film depicts the entire investigation process in detail. Each and every character is written so carefully and is perfectly casted as well. Be it Vishwak Sen, Murali Sharma or Bhanu Chander and other supporting actors.
