Riviera (2017)
and when you think it cant go worse...
Compared to season 1 clothes impoved significantly, everything else went south, deep south...
Doctor Foster (2015)
so stupid
I finished season 1. somehow i had hoped that somebody would have put gemma out of her and my misery. especially mine. i started season 2 and could not finish episode 1. it is a dreadful piece of trash and i really do not want to have my inteligence and good taste insulted. if something like that happens in real life, i certainly hope someone has the presence of mind and calls social services for the poor kid. unlikeable, stupid characters created by damaged writer i hope never to have the misfortune to meet.
Home Before Dark (2020)
thank god she is not my kid
What an annoying child!!!! the series left me wondering how so moronic, idiotic, irresponsible parents could have raised izzy. the top of the line is the bland, lukewarm and anemic father sending his 9 year old to investigate the murder and giving her a camera with his blessing! since this is a kind of true story i'm wondering where social services were. one star for izzy, the rest should be getting minus 10 and a certificate. plain stupidity if ever i saw one.
Mirage (2020)
ridiculous
There is a bit of everything, a computer genius suddenly realizing 007 is her middle name, long lost lover who is suppose to be 007 but heaven only knows how he managed to stay alive so long, trusting husband for a good measure of stupidity, bad guys who give me hope (if all of them are of the same calibre, world is safe), and a teenager with more common sense than all of the above put together. the only thing missing is a cute family puppy. the heroine is supposed to be working but is never in the office, i would love a job like that. and the fateful love affair reminds me of paul newman and eve marie saint, it again feels like the guy is lovesick for his much older sister. and i haven't even seen the finale yet. such a waste of time.
The Rhythm Section (2020)
boring
Boring, unbelievable, poorly written, shot and acted. the best thing about it is hans zimmer opening score. the rest of this not entertaining, not interesting and stupid film - go and file your nails, it will be time better spent.
Tango One (2018)
surprisingly enjoyable
I had no great expectations and somehow expected to quit watching after the first 20 mins. low ratings almost did it for me, but got drawn into the story and have to say that it was really a very enjoyable movie. i was cheering for the villain, vincent regan watchable as always, and it was fun watching the whole mess unraveling. i did not really care for sound or other stuff bothering some of the reviewers, just went with the flow. and i am glad i did.
i definitely recommend seeing it.
Liar (2017)
waste of time
The first season was not really interesting but i stuck through it. season 2 i just could not. i watched episode 1, skipped all in between and went to finale. the killer was exactly who i thought it was and froggat was exactly as annoying as she was in season 1. actually, everyone in this series is sooo annoying it makes it unwatchable.
Safe (2018)
waste of time
It feels as if it was written and put together on a boring sunday afternoon between brunch and dinner in absence of anything better to do. it most probably was-
the story is so unbelievable generic, it hurts.
teenagers who never do as they are told and are, of course, spoilt, rude and completely supported by their parents in every stupid move they make.
parents, running around all over the place, being even more stupid as their kids which kind of explains their moronic offspring.
though it needs to be said, one of the generic kids (by the way, i do hope she goes to school , i somehow doubt she is going to make a decent living by acting) i would definitely hire for cleaning. the whole party ruined house sparkling clean in no time, wow, amazing!
people being almost fatally wounded but needing less time to recuperate than I did after my root canal- amazing resilience!
detectives living in elite neighbourhood - i'm applying for a part time job!
and yes, of course let's not forget the main character's atrocious british accent. all british actors on strike?
and the french actress who was so good in engrenages (to put safe and engrenages in the same sentence is insulting for the latter) must be in for the same reason.
the whole show is complete garbage.
Long Shot (2019)
what sparks???
Due to trailer it should be funny and there were supposed to be sparks flying between two main characters. Well, it is not funny, it's failing at every attempt to be. As for sparks, I haven't noticed any.
The only thing about that movie is - Charlize is beautiful. Very beatiful. That should be the title and catchphrase of this movie. Because that's all that there is.
The Fix (2019)
i am just watching it for adam rayner
Unfortunately not because he's such a good actor but due to his looks. then again, meryl streep and tom hanks could not make this script work. robin tunney destroyed mentalist for me and i thought she would have done the same here.true, as usual she's highly irritating with the constant pouting and other infantile facial expressions but there was not a lot for her to destroy here.
i have just finished episode 4 and as i said i'm watching it for the wallpaper, i mean rayner. do not think that i will endure much more of this insults to my intelligence. i gave it 3 stars, boy am i feeling generous today!
Billions (2016)
it's just great
I have just finished season 4. i somehow suspected the outcome but had no clue how it would actually happen. and it was done brilliantly. in the sea of predictable stories, halfwit plots and some of my favorite shows watering down with each season, this one stands out. absolutely brilliant, intelligent.
i highly recommend it.
The Poison Rose (2019)
Pitiful
Boring, predictable, boring, laughable, and boring again. and pitiful. people really should know when to say no to a pathetic script especially after doing great ones in the past.
A Star Is Born (2018)
charlie is the best of them all
I have only three things to say
1. it is boring, slow and all the best scenes are copied from the previous version
2. the lady in the row in front of me /yes, i went to the cinema to see this disaster/ nailed it with the comment "if he does not die soon, i am going to finish him off myself"
3. lady gaga should have started singing before the end. btw, the final song is also a copy, even though one more look at you can not be compared to this.
and final recommendations
1. lady gaga should stick to singing, bradley cooper should stick to halfwit romantic comedies
2. charlie the dog should have had a bigger role
3. see streisand/kristofferson version or if you want to see a new movie, go see bohemian rhapsody.
Valor (2017)
STUPID
The first episode was quite catchy, in the beginning of the second one it dawned on me why the show got cancelled, in the beginning of the third one I couldn't help but wonder how the whole season managed to last. Oh yes, I watched it all just for the fun of it. And it is so stupid, stupid, stupid that it actually made me laugh. There's a bit of everything, female Maverick, idiotic trusting boyfriend, even more idiotic leader of the team, CIA officer who mistook army for a strip joint, her boss who mistook the agency for a standup comedy, all understanding kindergarten commander, and of course long suffering American hero who can not be rescued until all subplots are orderly tied up. People even almost get raped so that the blonde flyerboy can fly again. If there is a unit like this in any army anywhere in the world I'm joining immediately. I will be having all the time in the world to apply my makeup, bark at my superiors, exercise, be charmingly helpless and stupid all the time. True, I can't fly a helo but that's for sure not required.
Final Score (2018)
Do your laundry instead
Budget was 20 million??????? They should all have been paid to go home and tear the script to pieces. I rated it 4 for the sake of Faisal only. His way of evacuation actually got honest laugh out of me. The rest is just BS. With capital letters.
Skyscraper (2018)
it's fun!!!
The tallest building in the world, fire, bad guys, the Rock.
What did I not expect? Russian classics. What did I expect? Fun. And that's exactly what I got. I was checking out the reviews here and they actually made me laugh. At least most of them. No character development.Really? What character development? That's not the point. You want character development? Watch 12 Angry men. This one is pure fun and action. And even though I agree that it does not quite get to the Towering Inferno or Die Hard level, it's fun nevertheless. Just don't start with physics and logic. It's much more watchable than Tom Cruise flying into the exact right room heaven only knows how many storeys away in one of the MIs. I can't remember reading a review on Anna Karenina saying that reviewers missed action. It's quite the same here. I expected to be entertained. And I was. Thoroughly.
Grenseland (2017)
boring
It started good, continued not so good and ended even worse. if that's how norwegian police really is, all the criminals should move there and have a ball. complete waste of time. i wonder what made me watch this smorgasbord till the bitter end. should have done my laundry instead. i give it 2 stars for the potential.
Samson (2018)
just nothing
It's not so awful, it's definitely not good, it's just nothing. it's kind of a movie you start watching, leave it to have a shower, do your laundry, organize the high school reunion, come back to it and realize you haven't missed a thing. it always puzzles me how people manage to turn a thrilling story into a glass of flat coke.
i give it a 3 for not being as awful as the ben hur remake. not that i consider this fact to be a great achievement.
American Crime Story: The Man Who Would Be Vogue (2018)
slow and boring
I'm really not impressed. i finished episode 4 and i've seen more of donatella than of gianni. and of course, cunanan. the title should actually be "my career of a serial killer and how, among others i also killed gianni versace". i don't think i'll manage to get through all episodes and really don't have much to say about the whole thing, except slow, slower, even more slow, bland and boring. and of course, if fbi and police are really that great in catching a killer i'm really grateful not to live in the states.
Britannia (2017)
what a terrible, awful, stupid nonsense!!!!
I have read the reviews before watching this, this.... I can't even find a word for it. I knew not to expect history, so I didn't. But I certainly didn't expect to learn that much about bowel movements of majority of the cast. I had no idea that Celt vocabulary originated in a brothel, I also knew nothing about Roman army being so politically correct as to deploy black legionnaires and I certainly had no clue that most of the queen's whatever her name was, luggage consisted mostly of blue and gold make-up. Not to mention the feathers.
The new rising star - the little daughter that is, is absolutely perfect when it comes to crying, screaming, crying, cursing, crying. Oh yes, and I shouldn't forget the deep theological discussion of two Romans, revolving around god of boots. That was so , again I can't find the word, that it wasn't even hilarious. I won't say a word about the druids, poor souls, it must have been difficult to walk around with a badly glued tyre on their faces. I understand it is supposed to be fantasy, but it is not. And as much as I would like to, I can not find a word for it.
And the final insult is the last scene. One of the main characters, again on meth, saying "I know how it ends". I certainly hope he will keep it to himself. One of the reviewers wrote that it was a slow burners but the end was supposed to be good. I was waiting for it till the bitter end. Most probably we were not watching the same show. All those 10, 9 and 8 - WTF????
Murder on the Orient Express (2017)
How Agatha Christie was brutally ruined
This movie is actually a piece of art. It takes a really true artist to ruin Agatha Christie at her best and a Dench-lead cast and come up with a boring Branagh soliloquy. What he has made out of Poirot, it's just unbelievable. I don't remember him being described as a walrus in any of the books where he also has converstations with all involved so that readers/audience can participate somehow. In this movie it's just Branagh, he knows it all, he sees it all and he understands it all. Out of thin air. Such wonderful actors were gathered for this monstrosity and it felt as is they were there only a set for Branagh. And oh yes, when talking about scenery - which ignorant fool came up with alps between Vinkovci and Brod??????? The thing is, there is nothing going on in this film, no suspension building up, no substance. It is just a pale vessel for Kenneth Branagh to try shining.
Watch 1974 Lumet version. And from what i hear, it's going to be a sequel, Death on the Nile. Watch 1978 John Guillermin version. Branagh should.
My review does not contain spoilers, there's not enough substance to spoil anything.
Geostorm (2017)
it's fun
I read a couple of pages of reviews. i really don't get it. the movie is fun. it's not supposed to be a physics nobel prize project it's supposed to be fun. and it is. i really don' care whether tyres were ok while eggs were fried a meter away, i don't care whether lightning can bring down a stadium and whether underlying physics was plausible. i loved andy garcia saying "marry her" and i loved the indian boy getting his dog back. special effects were just great. and it's a shift in geography that i also liked. before this movie, the first strike of anything ended in hoover dam, followed by chrysler building, eiffel tower and big ben. nice change. anyway, if i could watch and like gerard butler in olympus and london (to be honest i would like him reading the phone book) this one was not really difficult. yes, it's clicheed, yes, it's predictable but it's fun to watch and for my money, that's what counts .
Hangman (2017)
is there a word beyond awful?
Definitely no spoilers in my review, since there is no story to spoil.
al pacino looks like he is on holidays from the local rehab, karl urban is pathetic and hard to look at, the lady who absolved all the journalism in her crib is pathetic, hard to look at and so realistic as the tooth fairy. and i should be sent to rehab after watching this monstrosity till its bitter end. looking back at the top, i have no clue why i rated this one with two stars. perhaps out of sheer pity for everyone involved. imagine, being on the set of this.......
Gunpowder (2017)
bland and boring
the subject is a part of history i am not familiar in details with. so i did hope to know more. i could hardly sit through all three episodes. one hour of history channel i saw before was far more informative, much better and way more interesting. big names obviously do not make a great show. as i said in the beginning, bland and utterly boring.
Rellik (2017)
don't bother
as i said in the summary - don't bother. there are so many other series that actually make sense. even Hollywood ones. i love British crime series because they look real to me. this one is ridiculous. after deciding elaine was the killer while watching episode 3 i just wanted to see if i was right. gave up at episode 5 and just checked on net whether i got it right. crime series are my favourite and i can't remember seeing one where the victim is actually the head of investigation. i understand the backwards timeline because the thing is so damn lame it needed a different approach to make it fly. otherwise - pure, sincere, boring garbage. gave it a 2 due to dormer's makeup, otherwise it would have been a straight 1.
