Badass and tons of fun!
20 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
I really had a blast with this one because it was a different take on King Kong. I'm a big fan of Peter Jackson's 2005 King Kong and even the 1976 King Kong movie, but i'm glad the 'It was beauty killed the beast' arc was dropped. I'm one moviegoer who is open to new ideas and this movie didn't disappoint.

The plot of the movie is pretty simple but in no way dumb. About the script, i think the problem was that this movie was overcast. When you have many big names in one movie, each one of them is expected to shine, have their characters developed, and have some good lines. But i think Jordan Vogt Roberts did a fine job. These criticisms of human characters not being developed is being taken too far. Not all movies have to make you care about all the characters. Just the main characters need development and in this case, the main characters were Kong, Packard, Hank Marlow and Randa. This is a fun B-movie that's sort of like a theme park ride. It is enjoyed best when you sit back and just enjoy the ride without unnecessary nitpicking.

I thought all the actors played their roles well. I couldn't care less if Brie Larson wasn't taking pictures. I was entertained all through. The VFX were awesome. The design of Kong and other creatures on the island was great. We got to see lots of Kong, and boy, was he BADASS. Kong's fights with the soldiers and Skull Crawlers were epic and had me on the edge of my seat. The shots in this film was fantastic thanks to Larry Fong. Its such a beautiful movie to watch. I'm looking forward to more from this Monsterverse.

Overall, i give it a 10/10. It checked all the boxes for me and i had a lot of fun. Will see it a few more times

YAAAAAAWWWWWWWWN! This was underwhelming.

I found nothing good with this movie. Absolutely nothing! The story line sucked and was predictable. The score sucked. The CGI was dodgy. I didn't find the finale mind-blowing. Disney didn't even try with this movie. They're just packing in as much nostalgia as possible. This movie was terrible! I've tried to look for some good in it but I can't find any. I almost slept through the first act. IWhen it was time for action sequences, I was underwhelmed once again. Man, you can't trust critics nowadays with the way they overrate Disney movies. The movie wasn't engaging at all. I guess Star Wars fanatics will lap this piece of crap up. I love the first three Star Wars films, hated the prequels. The Force Awakens was palatable. But this? It was a piece of crap. It'll make lots of cash though. Star Wars fanatics should demand quality films from Disney. Enough with the fan service!

Better than most critics would have you believe

Warning: Spoilers
I've watched this movie 10 times and it gets better with each viewing. The opening sequence was awesome, the score was awesome and the acting was awesome (even Jesse Eisenberg). There was dark humor, which i prefer to corny jokes. I loved the lack of audience hand holding. One had to use their imagination to figure out the missing parts. I do wish there were more chase scenes with the bat-mobile though. Hopefully the extended cut will smoothen the plot and have more chase scenes. Otherwise this was a worthy addition to Man of Steel which i will always defend. This movie should be appreciated for what it is and not what someone expected it to be. I was thoroughly entertained by it. Now we wait for Captain America Civil War. Gonna watch it several times too because we have to support the superhero genre.
