Louie (2010–2015)
10/10
What a treat it was!
29 December 2020
It's the best series in comedy genre, period. It's authenticity is such that sitcoms could never achieve. Louie is not an actor but he doesn't need to act to portray his life. There are some shows around that focus on regular folks, their up and downs, their daily struggle but I seriously believe Louie's daily life could give them nose bleed.

Talking strictly about show the characters are original because they are. All his friend are stand-up comedians, so their conversation is equivalent to a Netflix special. Talk about Louie's kids, neighbors or his doctor (Ricky Gervais) are just treat to watch on different levels. I cannot stress on "AUTHENTICITY" of the subject matter. It's like traveling with Louis C.K. around and just watch him do his stuff and it's great.

I think I lived Louis' life through this amazing series. Truly something valuable.

Mirzapur Season 2
22 October 2020
The show left at turning point; hence first episode keeps one engaged. The first couple of episodes are used just to carry forward the rigmarole, but it is more than just cat and mouse chase. Som new characters are good but stroryline is little predictable. It is absolutely entertaining, regardless. I enjoyed binge watching it and didn't regret it at all.

But, wholeheartedly season 1 was better like most of the show. Recommendation, if you have watched season 1, do watch season 2.

A breath of fresh air!
4 September 2020
I directly watched the third part, released in 2019 and I was hooked from the very1st episode. The characters appear absolutely original and made me feel love (Dushane), pain (Sully), hate (Jamie) and disgust ( Modie). I am not overstating when I say that 'I have not seen a more satisfying and complete story, since Breaking Bad'. Two other factors that made it perfect were unbelievably engaging music and accurate length of the season ( there is zero rushing and nil dragging).

Special shoutout to "Sully", the guy exudes pain and suffering. One of the best acting performances I saw in 2020.

Excellent show from beginning to end!

The Boys (2019– )

First Season was a 10 and Second season is a 7.
4 September 2020
I will talk about most recent 2nd season episodes. The plot continues to be great. Butcher is witty as hell and I am not " STARK RAVING". Only issue that puts season 2 below 1 is the familiarity with the characters. All the major characters have already unfolded and that really messed up the element of surprise in season 2. Don't get me wrong, the actors have done a perfect job again but it is getting a little predictable. Some new Supes have been introduced but it's hard to bind them with the ongoing storyline and feels rather contrived.

Well, regardless of its shortcomings, 'The Boys' is a great watch and I would highly recommend it.

Even Sanju Bawa couldn't save it!
29 August 2020
I am a huge Sanjay Dutt fan but this movie has not given him enough to work with. I plot is very predictable and excruciatingly lame. Aliah and Aditya have been given the 'token' cute boyfriend-girlfriend roles; there was nothing fresh about the characters. Music could also be more intense as movie tries to get dark.

I just feel bad for my favorite Sanju Bawa, this movie is one of the poorest life choices he has ever had to make (including possession of drugs and weapons). Bollywood needs to make better effort, especially when there are plethora of movies and series being released via OTT.

Sadak 2 equal Sadak Chaap!

Straightforward story and impeccable performance by Amitabh Bachchan makes it an excellent watch. Story made laugh and emotional during this 2 Hr of great pleasure. Both the cast and script are solid. Ayushmann is great as always. The movie enjoys having best of almost everything.

Kenny: Most Interesting, more like Most Boring
29 May 2020
I think people including myself seem to appreciate comedy which has some dark aspect to it. Just family friendly comedy seems to be a content of the past. Ofcourse if the stand up special is around 1 Hr long, you would definitely have a few punchlines but one thing it has to be through out is ENGAGING. I didn't find Kenny engaging in this Netflix special. Same unreal family expectations and personal failure jokes are becoming tedious, give us something new. If comparison has to be done, Kanan Gill's special was 3 times better than this and even that was average. Wasted my time. If I had a do over, I wouldn't watch it any cost. UTTERLY DISAPPOINTED.

If you want to find an agenda, you will! But the Show is near perfect
20 May 2020
No wonder the director has does an amazing job. After all he has got movie like Drishyam in his portfolio. It was after a long time that I saw a story which was very satisfying, no loose ends and no unnecessary stretching of the plot. People saying this to be a propaganda are absolutely paranoid, it has religious conflicts of all types, and doesn't bash one religion. Language is strong and it stings, some scenes are rather uncomfortable but that brings a flavor of originality in this brilliant piece of work.

The cast is perhaps biggest strength of this series. Especially the police and goons, reminded me of Paan Singh Tomar. Scenes and conversation during news scenes seems rather fabricated and contrived to a degree but one can withstand this for the show is great!

2 Hrs of Nothing
8 May 2020
Expectations were high when I saw the somberly poster, I convinced myself it would be coming of age movie like Udaan (or atleast half as good). Boy, was I wrong! This movie is terrible from the very start to the last minute. If genre seems unclear, I should tell it felt like an attempt to cross Udaan with The Lunchbox, only it is not even 10% of either of those movies (and yes comparison is necessary). Performance by the lead actor is very pretentious and seems half baked. The emotions and pain needed to be subtle but it never comes off as spontaneous. Even serious scenes seemed puerile. The supposedly "Deep" conversations made me yawn, when atleast it should have been engaging. The young actor is made to do the heavy lifting, sadly he is not ready. Other actors just potray cliche characters, like strict landlady with nice heart, rich girl with nice heart, mom with nice heart, dad with weak heart etc. Well, good thing is netflix has wide range of choices, go for any of those except "The Liftboy". Not even free time during lockdown could lift my spirit to like this piece of rubbish.

Movie has some excellent moments but it is boring to a certain degree
7 June 2018
The movie was based in Europe so I expected it will involve the art-culture crap. And I was right about art-culture but it was't crap in littlest. Movie takes its pace in first half hour with most brilliant pick pocket scene, this 3-4 minute gem was something I had never witnessed before. After this the protagonist ( a museum supervisor) tries to balance his career and allay the chaos he created to get back his belongings. Both branches have piquing incidents especially the fund raiser event with gorilla-man, the one shown in the poster. My god, I have seldom been uncomfortable to a degree that this act had invoked. Cinematography and music work in synergy to create a calm but instills trepidation. Movie is about art and itself proves to be an art. Acting by all the characters are close to perfect. Ending was abrupt as it usually is in these sort of films.

Movie is awesome absolutely, but one can watch it once only.

I suggest, watch it till it's fresh otherwise people have tendency to forget these and are rarely discussed during coffee breaks.

I am not "FULLY" convinced
3 June 2017
I have been watching the show since season one, which was off the charts. The show made a solid foundation with first two seasons depicting the exact difficulty an entrepreneur faces in building a business but season 3 and 4 has swapped the comical drama with senseless banter. Season 3/4 cannot be reviewed without talking about season 1. Season 1 had great promises, it impeccably depicted the socially immature, not so successful engineers who accidentally invent a software that would change the whole networking world. Converting the idea into a successful business was a strong story to tell. It was like watching THE BIG BANG THEORY with a plot. But now each character acts as if they have not been given a script. I don't understand why the writer has introduced senseless problems that has no possible way of occurring. Now,the show is trying very hard to make us laugh and fails miserably. I think the main problem is that it should have been wrapped up way earlier. Now the crap has spread so far that it's impossible to clean. Only cast and music remains constant and rest has gone downhill in the worst way. I recommend not to watch the show because you don't need to.

Can't swallow and Can't spit
20 March 2017
When I started the show, it didn't pique my interest. I doubt if anybody could like it in first glimpse. I couldn't categorize what genre it falls into. So, I googled and found it as " Absurdist Fiction". So, these two words actually sums it up. On the second attempt, I realized its like reading a book where everything is explanatory. Each and every scene has been elaborated as if a novel. So, starting with acting, Neil Patrick Harris has surpassed Jim Carrey with his performance. His performance is impeccable. Second best performance is by the Banker, he has added sum real flavor of comedy. The three kids in lead have done alright. Sunny, that dinky thing, is just a pleasure to watch. Moving to cinematography, it is as a stage-show like shooting. The surrounding will surely seem fake but only because it is meant to be. After all it is absurdist fiction right! Music is very nice, simply provides for the theatrical vibe. Story-line would be a little difficult to judge as it is all about the events. Whole series is based on episode wise accidents but a promising climax looms. As a final verdict, it is not an excellent show but it is one of a kind. One shall definitely give it a shot to expand the horizon. You won't know whether to hate it or like it, if you don't watch it.

One top-notch Thriller
6 February 2017
Well, there is no doubt Quentin Tarantino praised the movie. When a movie is great, it is great for everybody. This thriller kept me strapped till the very end and for some time after that.

Well, genres are limited but perspective can be new. And this movie has catered a very fresh one. This movie has become one of my most favorite revenge movies. The thing I liked the most was that gravity of the situation didn't require any emphasis. None of the actors had to convince the audience for empathy. The overall cast was subtle about it. Starting with acting, this movie has Min-Sik Choi, the guy in Old Boy and Lucy. He knows his job and like always gave a godly performance. The protagonist was completely in the match with Choi and so were the girls.Coming to music, it was absolutely mesmerizing, defined the scenes better than dialogues and bound all the factors together. Direction is of the highest order, with use of a very succinct conversation formula, he has managed to bring out the correct intensity at correct moments. Climax can be anticipated but that doesn't make it any less of a thriller. Movies like these have made Asian thrillers the best ones in business. The word "Asian" excludes Bollywood, which has again done a disdainful job in copying and making a crap like movie titled "EK VILLAIN". Watch "I Saw the Devil" and get hooked. Great movie.

Breaking Bad Lovers will watch it anyway!
17 December 2016
Breaking Bad made our ass whistle. Now comes the prequel. No doubt Saul Good man was a powerful character, a very thick strand in the rope. But the fact is, we have started to watch the show for it being a part of BB.And unsurprisingly, Gillian started with a link. After which, I could not leave the couch without finishing both the seasons.

So, talking about the show separately, It's Great! Firstly, the story is very intriguing and appeals to very basic of the senses. Its well written and is very detailed. Secondly, the Cinematography, He/She must not have much to research as the entire vibe feels same as BB. Music and sound effects are consistent with the scenes, although not impacting as Breaking Bad's medley. Then comes acting, Few characters have come back from BB and few are new but one thing in common is that all of them make sense. And that is no small thing. Each and every character emphasizes on re-living Breaking Bad once again. Call me optimistic but I have huge expectations from this Serial. So, far Vince Gillian has given goods to back my optimism. There is no point in suggesting to watch this show because Breaking Bad lovers will blindly give it a shot.

If you liked Banshee, you're gonna love this too!
6 November 2016
Ironically the title needed some justification, but the lead character Raylan A.k.a Hit-man (the good one, not agent 47 or whatever) vindicates in the first few episodes that his shooting was justified, hence the name. Starting with the story line, it is a decent Cops vs Criminals show. Some seasons are very good and rest are goodish. Except for a few episodes of season 5 revolving around Women's Prison. Those episode were absolutely mind-blowing. After watching those episodes the "Orange is the new Black" director must have had an epiphany to call off his show. Cinematography is to be appreciated as violence has been depicted impressively. Then comes the leads, as most of the serials this one has good characters as well.Lead hero and Villain have brought gravitas in their performances. It has one of those villainous characters whom we love more than the hero. After watching Boyd, one can understand why Quentin Tarantino chose him for the movie,The Hateful Eight. But his acting is not the only thing that raised his to the pedestal, the dialogues that he enunciates such eloquently are imperative to make his part complete. So, Thanks to the writer for good work! Other characters are all in all supportive and do not jeopardize the show. I wish the music was supportive as well but it is the worn-out stuff. This serial is almost coherent with Banshee except for the nudity, of which Justified has none. I enjoyed most of the aspects of this show. I wouldn't watch it again but I won't complain for watching it once either. Watch it if you have free time like me. Good show!

The Sopranos (1999–2007)

That is how Mafia is portrayed !!
25 September 2016
Jesus Christ...What a show it was!! I wish I had short-term memory loss, so that I could enjoy it over and over again. This show was just "perfecto". The bar was set very high by the mafia movies between 50's and 80's, but The Sopranos passed with flying colors. It stuck to a very strong story-line and made the viewers glue to the show. This show had only two pillars. First, the script and second, the characters. Its Characters were like wine, with each passing episode, characters became more and more intense. But the lead character "Tony" has outdone Sheldon & Harvey and matched Walter White and Frank Underwood by his clinical performance. All the supporting cast did equally well. Music was very good and captured the moment perfectly. Appreciating the story repeatedly would not be overdoing it. Direction and location was completely in the match with Scarface and Once Upon a Time in America. So, wrapping up by saying:" what the show, its awesome."

Are you into apocalypse stuff ?
29 May 2016
Well this show starts at very intriguing point. At the very start it piqued my interest and I could not leave without completing the episode. So, starting with story would not disappoint us as its quite fresh, some might say its like a preface to The walking dead but in reality it has certain degree of variation. Story seems to be the best part. Acting wise its alright and same is valid for the background music. Direction and camera work is quite brilliant as it sometimes gives goosebumps. So all in all the show is very engaging and one must not miss it if one is into apocalypse stuff. This show has very good chances of receiving high viewership. Watch this show while its fresh as you might leave it without getting addicted if it arises ambivalent response, it is still in budding phase.

This show has great villains..do I need to say more ?
23 May 2016
The title for the series is irreplaceable. The title is the heart of the show's plot and the plot has everything..literally it includes everything we crave. Starting with the story, it has one main root that concluded after season 4 and sub-roots that end with each season. Quality of story is very intriguing and has many nail biting moments. The story cannot be categorized in single genre as it has sex, romance, bone chilling violence, great action and whatnot. Moving on to cast, all actors seems to be hand picked..each one has different walk n talk. My favorite was Procter. The plot rests on the shoulders of great villains that gives it all the more reason to watch. Talking about acting wouldn't disappoint us as characters have amalgamated brilliantly and their chemistry made this show a success. Then comes direction, what a great job! The location couldn't be more relevant. The intensity of scenes are more engaging than many of the top notch TV shows. Director has provided the show with great vision and it paid off ten fold. Music in the show was enchanting and important part of the series. Calling all the four seasons watch worthy would be an understatement. This show was awesome to the last episode. Watch it before people start spreading spoilers.

Mild comedy that grows on you.
15 April 2016
Well its a comedy show, so its not for everybody. The concept is quite unique and it can't be compared with any other show. I think it is the first show in its genre. So, starting with the story-line, its very fresh and straightforward, hence nice to watch. It doesn't have scientific Gibber-Jabber as one might anticipate. Acting is average, except for two main characters, who have given an engaging performance. It is not ROFL funny but brings out a few chuckles. Music is very nice and depicts the scenes aptly. Direction is also very good as choice of location and small time incidents have been presented very impressively. So, all in all show is nice to watch but again its not for everybody. Like walking dead despite being a great show, doesn't agree with everyone. So, watch it if you are into mild comedy and drama. Very catchy show that grows on you eventually.

cliché protagonist destroyed the new concept
26 January 2016
I can honestly say that I did not like the show. The concept seemed to be interesting but left me disappointed. These days, One of every three TV series has protagonist like Lucifer, a charming, handsome, smart-ass and kind guy, Who has a cocky way of presenting himself yet has the calmness and composure to take the correct decision. The most unbelievable thing is that characters like these are always correct. So talking about overall episode, dialog are just monotonous crap. Story is new but I am not optimistic about the way it has been put. Acting is alright, nothing we haven't seen before. Music is average. All in all, This series is average piece of junk and would be soon forgotten. I have seen shows like Da Vince's Demons, suits and this, all have same kind of lead character that sticks to your mind and that's not good. Watch it only if there is no other program on TV.

Watch if you understand hacking, else hard to bear.
16 January 2016
This serial is for computer guys. Most of the characters on the show are hackers. Its all about hacking..like..hacker's personal life...his professional life..his friends..his girlfriend..his crush..his enemy..his mission etc. So, if you think hackers are cool watch this show, you would not be disappointed. The main character is a weirdo named Elliot, he is kind of interesting and is heart of the show.Like Harvey Specter in Suits. Guy playing his role has justified his work. All the supporting cast is just average. Then comes story line, it is above average. The main problem is that the conversations include too many technical terms that makes it hard to bear sometimes. It could have been simplified a little. Direction is very good. The music is not in the league as house of cards but it not disappointing either. Mr. Robot feels a bit slow at times, I think that is demand of the main character. All in all the show is very nice but for a limited audience. This show demands handful of patience and interest in computer stuff. others would not watch more than 20 minutes. So, watch it only if it is your cup of tea.

Watch Gordon Ramsey Instead
13 January 2016
This movies is rough portrayal of an angry, arrogant, talented and softhearted chef "Adam". Who is he or why is he...how he got this good..you can't ask because this is not the movie is about. Its about a one challenge that Adam needs to complete... perhaps because he wants to be happy with himself. The worst part is that you have to believe what the characters say about him and believe it to be true. There is no scene that might bind the overall character of Adam. So, its really hard to relate with his emotions. I haven't seen such a bad direction for a long time. Scenes are so random..none of it makes much sense. Story line is very weak, sound track is also not very engaging. The only thing that is to be appreciated a little is Bradly Coopers acting. This movie is one of those average cinemas..that is forgotten as soon as the poster is peeled off. Movie lovers would not regret leaving it unseen.

Fargo (2014–2024)

Real story TV series that entertained me a lot !
21 December 2015
Fargo is a great show. The best part is the simplicity with which the story progresses. The story is really smooth, yet not easy to anticipate. Since it is about real events, it is easier to relate with the scenes. The show doesn't fail to capture the audience.Talking about acting, The two main characters played by Martin Freeman and Billy Bob amalgamate perfectly. Freeman has done better job than he did in "sherlock". I give him five stars out of five, for his role transformation in this series. The third main character of a female officer is quite depressing as she tends to brings down the tempo. I didn't like her..somebody else could have done it better. Then comes the sound track, its appropriate and doesn't kill the mood. All in all.. It doesn't stand out like House of cards or Breaking Bad..that we love discussing with others but Fargo is a very good T.V series that would not disappoint its viewers. It was nice to watch a show with not an outlandish theme.

Slow at the start but Awesome all- in- all
15 November 2015
The most interracial show ever made, seems to be the main theme of the serial. But the plot takes the cherry. The twists through out the story is simply hypnotizing. Even though it is slow at the start, the end pays it off with interest. It seems to have been made with a message of women, gay and other empowerment and is not at all subtle about it. It has Gay sex in every episode..that girls might love. But all these negative points are well outweighed by the the story-line plus acting. Majorly the actor in the lead role "Anna Keating". Her work is impeccable. I can't remember the last time I failed to identify the killer beforehand. The director would amaze everyone with the brilliant work. "How to get away with murder" there could not be a better title than this. So, watch it right now, bear first few episodes with patience, then drown in its magic. Great Show!!
