Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021)
A Different Approach
This is a pretty decent Saw movie. I mean it's not bad but not good either. Story is just decent. Twist was pretty predictable tho. But i don't really understand why Chris Rock was yelling like a 60 year old on a phonecall? He is a different approach to a Saw character, I really get it. And it was fun time to time, but, please if there is going to be a sequel, don't make him yelling all the time. It's frustrating. Other than that it's okay. You can kill your time watching this. On the other hand, more clever devices and traps compared to other Saw sequels, sometimes funny but never scary. And at least you hear Samuel L. Jackson when he says the m word.
Anyways, ending feels like its a bit rushed and movie really feels like it should be at least 2 hour long to complete the story and finish it well.
Aknyeo (2017)
Step aside, Luc Besson, that's how a female assassin should be.
Most action movies lack either a good ending or a well written story. But The Villainess has something special going on inside. This movie can't be compared to regular Hollywood blockbusters we see every year. I personally prefer this movie over John Wick trilogy. I'm sorry but I'm fallen in love with The Villainess. Cinematography and directing is god tier. Even the opening scene can make you fall in love with the movie. The angles are beautiful. A wonderful piece of art with a satsfying ending, an easy to understand but not well processed story.
Yes, we see this story maybe a million times, but everytime someone write a vengeance story like this, it somehow works. As long as it's well written and well directed, I'm okay with that.
And, my god, Kim Ok-bin. This woman even looks wonderful when her face covered with blood. A must see action adventure even if you're not fond of action movies.
Army of the Dead (2021)
Can somebody please turn on the lights?
So, this movie is worse than I expected. First of all, dialogues are so bad that they're just feels like translated from another language poorly. Or like it's written for the final exam to just pass the class and nothing else matters. Writing is bad, directing is bad, acting is average and cinematography is bad. The plot is promising but that is all i can say positive about this movie-ish thing. So many things are out of logic in this writing that you almost feel like Zack Synder is messing up with you.
There is so many points that I just want to point out. Is that daughter really needed for the story? She is only here to put the team in danger just to save a woman we don't told why is she important for her in 148 minutes, and don't saving her at the end. Really? But by far the sharpest ones are; first, how can you be so dumb to need a safecracker to open your very own safe? Second, let's say you did. You have to be dumb to take part in Synderverse after all. When the safecracker (the guy who needs to open the safe, the only guy in the team that can open this safe, who's only aim is to open the goddamn safe) opens the safe, everybody celebrates like it's an unexpected thing to do. Bro, you're here to open this safe. What the heck? And how the alpha's who are techincally dead, can breed each other? How can you get hard when you have no blood pressure? Why do I bother asking? All of this happened because someone get hard! Not seeking logical explanations about this screenplay anymore.
So, in conclusion, what i learned from this movie is one of my biggest fantasies can lead to zombie apocalypse and i really don't know if i should be happy or sad. Don't watch it if you have only time for one movie. Watch it when you you're in the mood of don't respecting yourself. If 2020 was a movie, it would pretty much look like this one.
Wrath of Man (2021)
A Decent Experience
In my opinion, this movie and Guy Ritchie doesn't deserve all the hate going around latelty. And I accept that this is not one of the average Guy Ritchie movie that we all love and admire. Slower than the average Richie movies, not enough action sequences but it has a good, solid and pretty straightforward story, a not hard to predict twist but besides all, good acting from dear Mr. Statham. Movie succesfully keeps you on edge, grips you and invites you to it's satisyfing ending. Fun to watch. What more does a movie can give the audience?
