Coupling (2000)
Clever comedy
I'm the kind of person that doesn't really laugh when watching comedy shows, but this one is so clever I really can't hold myself.
Funny characters, funny plot. I just wish comedy shows nowadays were as good this one.
We're All Gonna Die (Even Jay Baruchel) (2022)
Relaxed documentary series with an awesome host
This show is a documentary-style look on some apocalyptic scenarios for the human race, but quite different from anything I've seen before.
The host, Jay Baruchel, best known for various comedy movies and TV shows, has a very relaxed (and empathetic to the average person) layman's take to all the events that could mean apocalypse for the human race, while still not losing sight of the scientific takes of each one of those.
There are interviews with various experts, a lot of video and graphic resources that make those interviews not boring and abstract, which is nice.
The show does take a political stance on the issue of climate change, which is understandable since the premise of the show is to look things purely through a human race survivability lens. I understand this might upset some people, since there are economic, geopolitical and many other levels of complexity to this issue, but it's good for everyone, on any side of the political spectrum, to understand the "survivalist" take to this problem and the show does a good job at that.
Man Seeking Woman (2015)
Here for Jay Baruchel, but the show itself is too cringe
Jay Baruchel is an incredible actor. After watching FOX TV show "Undeclared" I just needed to see more of his performance so I came to this show.
His acting does not disappoint, he's awesome at it, but I did not like the show itself. The plot is a bunch of exaggerations stacked up on top of each other that are simply not believable. If you're a mature adult, everything is so cringe it seems like you're forcing yourself to watch a naive kid's show.
That is not to say the show did not have potential. They could have introduced the exaggerations in another manner, such as "the world seen as metaphors, through the eyes of the main protagonist, played by Jay Baruchel", while keeping the world seen through the eyes of other people as well in parallel, but they chose to keep only the former, which is too cringe to me.
I'll keep watching though because I just love Jay Baruchel's acting and appearance (he's too much of an eye candy).
Undeclared (2001)
A hidden pearl in the comedy category
I'm so glad I found this show. It's definetely on my top 10 list of TV shows. I don't get how it isn't more popular.
The actors are incredible and every episode leaves you wanting more.
A must watch in the "comedy" category of TV shows.
La casa de papel (2017)
Very similar, yet a hundred times better than Breaking Bad
I really don't know why breaking bad is more popular than this when these series have a story a lot better.
How I Met Your Mother (2005)
Everything a TV series should have
Intelligent comedy, romance, drama with absolutely interesting characters. These were simply one of the best TV series I've watched.
A lot of episodes, but unlike other series with this many, HIMYM makes you feel like each one of them is part of the story and not a filler.
The Big Bang Theory (2007)
Fun series to watch
Naturally, as a comedy series with more than 20 seasons you will find some episodes that aren't really that good, but after watching it all I can say that on average, most episodes are above the curve and make you have a lot of fun.
Breaking Bad (2008)
Interesting, but not that above the curve
These series became really popular. I get why, it does explore some themes that are trending nowadays, with envolving characters that really make you want to know what's next in their story.
But after watching it all I think it was not that good, not to be one of the best rated series of the whole story of televison. You get to the point that you starting watching it just form curiosity, but the story itself is really not that good.
Game of Thrones (2011)
Perfect
It's simply a must watch if you like TV series. Excellent story, acting, characters that make it really addictive. One of the best I've ever seen.
Mr. Robot (2015)
No story
There's simply no logic in these series, I've seen the entire first season without knowing well what's going on.
The main character is too much dramatic, to the point his acting gets really unconfortable to watch.
It does explore some modern themes, which I think is the reason why it became so popular, but I don't recommend it to anyone. Waste of time.
