Semmelweis (2023)
5/10
Missed opportunity, 4,5
30 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I think the life of Semmelweis has much greater potential that this movie displayed. It only focuses on the most recognized discovery of his. Too bad that it was not recognized in his lifetime, while the movie actually displayes it so.

Technicals were basic, sounds were raw and unpleasant in the first half. Costumes were ok. The fact that the movie had medical nonsense in it is disappointing as well. Just to mention two of them: Semmelweis asks the nurse to check for dilation when the lady is clearly in active labor. They mixed sedative in the wine. Problem is that sedatives were not invented yet. And they know that, because they mention ether several times in the movie.

Katica and Miklós did a great job in the movie. Actually Katica's acting was very good, and Miklós did well despite I know him from theater. One small thing which was unfortunate in my opinion is giving the script about traitor and fighting a war in Miklós's play. It resembles his character of Nemecsek and awakens the memory in the viewer as well.

I'm disappointed that they missed this opportunity, but found the movie otherwise alright, and I'm thankful for the actors for getting the best out of this script.

Not because of the Oscar
3 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I wish I'd seen this movie before the Oscar's. It is by far the best I've seen in its category. The story just finally, after loads of senseless movies, makes sense. From the very best perspective and you can almost feel what the guys are doing to do. Nice job on the finest details. I liked that they were polished and not left untouched. Liked the jokes, the wallet thing and KFC too.

For me it was gripping and I totally felt the situation in which Tony and Dr. Shirley were in. Nice arc of the story. One thing I quite disliked about the film was the end of it. It was strange and things happened too fast in my opinion.

Good job on that. No matter what, certainly one of my favorites from now.

The Mule (2018)

True masterpiece from Eastwood
15 January 2019
I was happy to see that this movie is not action based, it only had a little of those true gripping scenes. A realistic drug story of an old man, which truly had a grip on me. It explained so much truth and lifelike situations, that I loved this one. Somewhere it felt a bit moving for me too, which was great.

Great commemoration, but could be more correct at some places

Warning: Spoilers
I liked it. The fact that the musics were not too constrained was really positive about the movie. It contained some misleads too, like the fact that Freddie was diagnosed AIDS after the Live Aid concert in 1987. All in all it was one of the best movies I have seen.
