Second feature doesn't reach the greatness of "Searching"
23 November 2020
Even though this ain't a bad movie by any means, i cant help but feel a little disappointed. I don't wanna take anything away from the directing nor the acting, cause both are top-notch. The feel and atmosphere of the movie is very thrilling and suspenseful. And i really see a bright future for Aneesh Chaganty, but this is nowhere as good as his debut Searching.

The plot is very dull, unoriginal and the timing couldnt be worse. The last, couple years we have seen a numerous movies tackle the illness know as "Münchausen by Proxy", where we essentially see a mother poison her child. I feel like i've watched this movie 5 times before.

The movie is also very predictable, with might have to due, with my previous fact that we have seen this movie already. Whether or not, you know within the first couple of minutes whats gonna happen, and the very first scene also gives the twist ending away.

I feel very disappointed especially because Searching was one of my favorite movies last year. I expected so much, but this movie is rather unambiguous

Get this man an Oscar!
25 October 2020
Really hope Bill Murray finally gets that Oscar. He really deserves it for this movie, where he gives such a charming, funny, but also in incredibly emotional performance.

The plot of the movie is nothing special. But that's really not the driving factor here. Its the relationship between daughter (Rashida Jones), and father (Murray). And gosh their chemistry is great. The movie is much more of a character study of their relationship, which i found very charming, real and relatable, with some really good performances as well, especially by Murray. I was highly entertained, and charmed by their interactions throughout the whole movie.

I found the ending a little anticlimactic, and i must admit to be a little disappointing of the end, cause i was so invested up until that point. With that said, i remember that this movie is much more about relations than plotting, and therefore i'm going 4/5. And i genuinely believes Murray deserves the best supporting actor for this, and that hes long overdue.

Beautiful movie in the most brutal way possible.
22 October 2020
Beautiful movie in the most brutal way possible. A mixture of a movie with a very beautiful grooming relationship, between to outcasts, filled with hauntingly and unsettling scenes.

The acting was amazing, from each of the three lead characters. Amazing that the director managed to find, and get such a good performance out of relatively unknown actors. I was especially stuned with the portrayal of Billy, who i find to be one of the most likable characters ever put on the screen. Was shocked to see that this is the actor's only credit on IMDB.

I wasn't completely satisfied by the last act of the movie, and felt like it was draged out a bit here. It was slowpaced, which i actually liked, but a little too long considering the pacing. Maybe 20-25 minutes could have been cut of

But overall very authentic, and original movie, amazing acting and directing, and giving it 4/5

Too long
30 June 2020
This movie could have been 90 minutes. But it is overlong, due to the fact that Spike Lee fills up the movie with documentary style cuts, focusing on racism in America. But it just feels so out of touch with the overall arc of the story, which is actually very promising. I dont think that the racism-stuff should have left behind, but i think it would have worked a lot better, if they just toned it down a nutch, without jumping around. With that said, the second half of the movie is very good. Delroy Lindo is amazing, his scenes alone in the jungle are awesome. The final showdown is also very rewarding. But its just the first half that ruins the movie. More than one hour has passed, before something actually happens. And i think a lot of viewers will turn away in that time. I almost did so myself. 2hours and 45 minutes is crazy given a plot, that is very thin, and filled up with out-of-place stuff, that just contributes to lose the overall focus of the movie. 6/10

Will Ferrells love letter to the Eurovision
30 June 2020
I was very positively surprised by the movie. I thought, knowing Ferrell it would have been more of a parody of the eurovision contest, than what it really was. It felt so warm, and with so many positive emotions towards the contest. It was funny, but without mocking either the islandic community, or as said the eurovision. I'm European, not super-fan of eurovision, but very much aware of the contest. And it felt so accurate. Very good fun flick, pacing is good, entertainment value is great, comedy is good as well, never really a dull moment. It did what it set out to - entertain the people, without making a masterpiece of movie art, in any sense. You can of course criticize the movie for a lot of stuff, namely the dull plot, and the fact it isn't very original. But i'm choosing to grade this movie, for the intentions that the filmmakers had, and for what its worth, the movie succeeds. 7/10

The show that keeps on giving
24 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Another fantastic episode, were we follow the characters of OA and Kasim Washington as their story lines slowly intertwines. It's good to see the characters from season one that were held captive with OA again, even though Hap still remains in control off them all.

Kasim gets closer to the unraveling the truth, and somehow it involves the former consciousness of OA.

And the final 10 minutes were phenomenal... lots of suspense and a great payoff at the end.

The OA: Angel of Death (2019)

Amazing!!
23 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
We have waited a long long time, to get the second season of this amazing show. But I've gotta say, its been worth waiting for! The OA is one of my favorite shows of all time. Why? Because its original, unpredictable, mysterious and edgy. The production is also fantastic, and especially the score is worth pointing out, as one of the best TV-scores of all time. It takes risks, and make you guess and think. I have never seen anything like it, and that's what makes it so special. I was a little worried that the writers would be out of touch with the story, but i gotta say that isn't the case. Its more ambiguous than season 1, while keeping the same tone and mix of elements that worked so well in season 1.

In this first episode of season 2 we see OA adapting to a new dimension after her jump, but it doesn't seem to be the right dimension shes ended in. We're also introduced to some new characters, detective Kasim, looking for a missing girl, while stumping in to a mysterious game. Zendaya also makes a surprise appearance.

The Acting is top notch, from old as well as new actors. And it wouldn't be OA without an fantastic twist to end the episode.

Review: The Assassination of Gianni Versace

Even though Andrew deserved what in the end came for him, i couldn't help to feel a bit sorry for him, right before he committed suicide. He was a very clever man, and had potential to be a special man, he just lacked the most important skill of them all - he didn't wanna work for it. But all that potential was wasted, because he was raised by a man, who would steal over working, a thief. The scene were Modeste promises Andrew to help him, but instead uses the phone call to make money through a interview, is so heartbreaking. That he was ready to let his son get caught over some money! Andrew was absolutely crazy, don*t get me wrong, but you can see why turned out that way. He could have been a absolute normal person, if his is parents had been normal.

Anders Matthesen makes me proud to be a Dane!
30 December 2018
Where to start! What a funny movie, that is well-suited for adults as well as kids. Sure there is some brutal moments, but they are done in a very humorous way, which make the brutal moments, a little less frightening for the younger audience. In "Ternet Ninja" we see a movie that is not only great comedy, but a lovely light-hearted story about justice. You can see how hard anders has worked on this movie. It's clear to see that he has studied the younger generations general behavior and slang, and therefore the dialogue between the kids is not only very funny, but also very realistic.

Besides making a great script, Anders has also written some very good and funny songs as parodies on modern rap, and gives great voice-over performances. Also love that he brought back Terkel and Stewart Stardust, characters that fans of his former work will know for sure!
