Where's my tinfoil hat?
16 April 2023
I wrongly assumed this was an investigative documentary. It's not. This is another one of those Netflix "documentaries" for conspiracy theorists.

I feel sad for the families interviewed, and the rest who would watch this. Not only for their suffering but that this was released. It's insensitive. I wonder if the producers told them it would be one of these sensationalist conspiracy films, rather than real journalism.

I only got through half the first episode, so it is possible it improved later. But probably not.

I really should know by now to check reviews before starting a Netflix documentary.

Don't bother with this one people! It really is junk.

This was an ad for Apple, not an episode
26 January 2023
This is not an episode, it's ad ad for Apple. I'm so disappointed. This is by far the worst episode out of 6 seasons so far. Most I'd give an 8 or 9 out of 10, but this one... Absolutely disappointed. This is the first episode I couldn't bring myself to finish. Did Apple pay for this? Write the script? Was this product placement? I also don't understand how so many people give this episode such a high score, and it has a 9.5 average user review. Perhaps they're just Apple fans. Subtle product placement is fine (like Toyota is obviously a sponsor) when it's not in our faces. But this episode went too far. Shame on the producers for allowing this.

Great series, and finished after just the right amount
21 December 2022
Great story, acting, sets, CGI and cinematography. I didn't expect that! I was gripped for all 3 seasons, right until the end.

I especially appreciate that Netflix didn't just keep it going past it's use by date, and they didn't cut it short without properly resolving the story.

Some especially good acting in this. I'm not surprised to hear Emilia Jones won awards for her performance in the film Coda. I can see she has potential to be great, so I look forward to seeing her future work too.

I think the best way I can describe this series is a bit of fun. It was mostly quite light and entertaining. That last season got quite dark at times though, which took me by surprise. Done well though.

Nice work to the whole cast and crew.

The last Riverdale episode I watched
2 December 2022
Oh wow, this episode was terrible! Riverdale slid downhill after season 1, but I kept watching because among the shockingly bad ones (like the musicals) there was the occasional decent one.

But the last 4-5 were just so bad... 2 or 3 out of 10 if I'm generous. Then this one came along. Oh wow, just so amateur in all elements of writing and production.

When I start a series I like to see it through to the last episode of the last season. It's rare that I don't, I'm a completionist.

But this bad episode was the final straw for me to change my ways, and be more comfortable to stop earlier. And to read other IMDb reviews early on and take notice of other people's advice on when to stop watching

So many people gave this advice, to stop after season 1. I didn't listen. I will from now on.

I also left a review for the whole series as a warning to future viewers.

Season 1 was great (8/10), don't watch anything after that!
2 December 2022
I really enjoyed season 1. Great acting, storyline, writing and more. An 8/10 from me. But from there it went downhill fast. And what's with the random episodes that are musicals? What??? Be one or the other.

I think they ran out of good ideas too, and sought horror story ideas from high school students instead of professional writers. This could have been remembered as something great, but they should have finished on a high after season 1, and stopped.

But the first season was great. Everyone involved, cast and crew, were first-rate. Despite my bad overall score, I still recommend watching season 1.

Absolutely incredible film!
9 September 2022
This is one of the best films I've ever seen, I'm giving it a 10/10 on IMDb. I rarely give 10s!

A beautiful true story, very well written as a book and then converted effectively to a script. In execution they really managed to capture the emotion of it all, I fought back tears a few times!

And cinematography was first rate, not just for the locations but the skill in capturing it.

I think it may not touch or resonate with those outside Australia as much, or non-dog people, but is well worth a watch for anyone.

This is an amazing film, I take my hat off to everyone involved in this production. Great work.

Maintaining the magic they created on Top Gear
29 August 2022
Love it! They're successfully kept alive the best parts of the formula, fun and banter they created on Top Gear. Especially important as post gear post this trio became so dull. After the heartbreak of losing Top Gear, a fave for 2 decades, I was happy to the team found a new home.

I would give a 10, like I did for Top Gear, but dropped just a point as a few themes in Jeremy's personality and behaviour have gotten tiring. The disrespectful attitude to the crew has continued. As has the bigotry and general offensive remarks to groups in the community.

I used to laugh along, but I've grown up. As has most of the world, just not Jeremy. He hasn't worked out that he can be hilarious and cheeky without being hurtful.

As for the rest of the show, they still have a fun way to share and promote automotive enthusiasm. A great mix of obtainable and unobtainable cars -- and wild adventures. On this note, I only realised during COVID lockdowns and travel bans that this show is as much a travel documentary as it is a car show.

A great show for dinosaur burners and those looking for travel inspiration :-)

Season 1, 9/10, down to 2/10 by the end of season 3
29 August 2022
What an awesome idea for a story, and first season was great and I give a 9/10. But wow it went down hill fast!

They just ran out of ideas to keep the momentum, but they kept trying to keep the show alive. They should have quit while they were ahead.

It just became a drama without excitement. Another desperate drama about the Whitehouse. But nothing really original in the storyline or characters.

I look back on this series as the inspiration for why companies like Netflix are so harsh nowadays and cancel shows if they look like they're they're not still on the way up. So it's had a positive impact on the TV industry, because we remember those series positively. Not like this one!

Astronauts aren't emotional wrecks
3 August 2022
There were some enjoyable parts to this show. But the main aspect that broke the immersion for me and ruined it was the emotional instability of the characters. Especially Swank's character.

Space agencies don't hire people for their astronaut programs who have so much baggage. Not because they have to keep weight down for launch 😉, but because they need people who can handle the pressure and keep it together.

This show had potential, but what a waste to write the characters to be so far from reality.

Woah, I really didn't expect a Bruce Willis film to be this portly done
26 November 2021
Geez, I'm really surprised how poorly executed this film was. Bruce Willis usually does much better stuff. Some cool big budget CGI though, but doesn't make up for poor scripting, goofs and continuity fails in the first 30 minutes (before I gave up). I love dodgy b-grade sci-fi (even low scoring ones) usually, but this is too bad.

I think the kicker for me was being hundreds of years in the future but the roads being filled with petrol cars and trucks from the 90s. I mean really, someone driving a 300 year old petrol pick-up truck as a daily drive. Nope. It would be in a museum.

I could go on, but no need. I wish I had bothered to look at these IMDb reviews before losing 30 minutes of my life. Lesson learned. Trust IMDb users scores people!

Gosh, this really isn't a good film :-/
29 September 2020
After a slow start, the pace just didn't pick up. I pushed through another 30 minutes just in case it was building to something decent. It didn't.

Poor story, poor acting and topped off by the cheapest set I've ever seen in a film. Safe to say this film was shot on a low budget.Very low.

On a positive note, it could have been better as theatre production. Condensed, with better talent, the story and approach has potential. Though as a film, just don't waste your time on this one.
