Baba O'Riley
6 April 2020
Wow, what a masterstroke of comedic film.

Joe's excitement and devotion to The Who and this particular song which is irresistible for anyone and everyone to rock out to.

Joe is always so positive even when the world sh!ts on him. This is his is Joe's buried and malnourished true self.

Forget CSI:NY, Buffalo is a place that requires people with song in their soul.

HFCS

Warning: Spoilers
German chocolate, lebkuchen, bienenstich, schwarzer Wald kuchen, Rødgrød, Vanillekipferl, Baumkuchen, Spaghettieis, und strudel?

"Gottlieb Kirchhoff"...Commercial preparation. Historically, corn syrup was produced by combining corn starch with dilute hydrochloric acid, and then heating the mixture under pressure. The process was invented by the German chemist Gottlieb Kirchhoff in 1812.

It was introduced in the US food supply in 1970 due to escalating cane and beet sugar costs. Those costs have remained high because of US tariffs on sugar and corn farming subsidies, which has made HFCS cheaper to use than traditional sugars.

Primal: Tales of Savagery (2019 TV Movie)

Wow!
1 March 2020
Primal is Tartakovsky in all of his glory. It's a throwback to both Ralph Bakshi and the days of silent film. It's simultaneously unifying and divisive. We fall in love with both man and beast. It is a tumultuous journey that hits you hard with both action and emotion.

It only takes one...
31 May 2017
episode to understand, appreciate, and get over this show. WIA is spot on satire, but it's annoying a f.

This is a show about nothing in much as Seinfeld was a comedy.

Dialogue goes as such: Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes.

Right. Okay. Exactly.

Uh. Well, yes. Yes, exactly.

No, no, that's fine.

It's probably better, yes.

It's not even jargon. It's circular corporate speak of a vapid culture that unfortunately is today and most likely worse tomorrow and so on.

Good but infuriating, watch one episode only unless you actually want to throw your remote at the screen (or your hand-held device at someone else).

The Alien is the Least of Your Concerns
20 May 2017
Many a fan and quite a few viewers are going to bemoan just how "self-important" the two most recent installments in the Alien film franchise are. I for one really enjoyed the philosophical turn that Prometheus and Covenant have taken. The one constant throughout the series ever since 1979 is the relentless, purely instinctual aggression of the titular xenomorph. XX121 is a perfect representation of the literal meaning of life: life exists so that it can continue existing. Covenant furthers Prometheus's supposition that we have a purpose. What's truly terrifying about this latest Alien incarnation is the extreme view of purpose and place one can supplant themselves within the order of things. And it turns out that some monsters can be scary on a much grander scale regardless whether made in the image of their creator or not.

Possibly Gibson's best work as an actor in possibly his best film
12 March 2011
Though it cannot excuse his personal life...actors are flawed as everyone is. He displays a unique strength in this character that probably is the most proper exercise of his own personal rage. When I saw the commercials/previews for this I thought that I would definitely want to see it...whenever I got around to it. My brother bought the DVD second hand and screened it for us just happen so one night. To his surprise, I was in love with this movie. It's a gem...one of those films that doesn't define a career but rather goes overlooked and unappreciated. Mel Gibson was a star; and when he passes he will be cheered in the Oscar "In Memoriam" reel. This movie is true to his dogged dramatic momentum...an overrated charismatic performer that might actually turn in his better and best work in his elder years.
