The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017)
I enjoyed it. Spoilers!!
What a great cast and acting. Such a strange and eerie movie from the directing to the screenplay. Almost every character in this movie is screwed in the head. Too bad that the most "normal" character had to die. The dad is the most screwed up trying to analyze and decide which one of his children should die. But it's kinda poetic because open would probably do the same thing if they, had to face such decisions, God forbid. Great movie.
Loki: Journey Into Mystery (2021)
This episode was kinda lame tbh
Sorry but This was the most cringeworthy episode thus far. Loki was great as usual but the story and directing was pretty lame. Everything felt rushed and kinda slapped together. Since this episode was bad, the next one should be fire. At least that's been the pattern so far. Episodes 1,3,5 were meh. Episodes 2,4,6 fire! We'll see.
Cats (2019)
These comments...
Are hilarious 🤣🤣😂😂😂
But the movie was truly cringeworthy. I would've rather them not include the cgi. The musical /play has a great reputation so I'm not sure why the movie version was so bad.
Lovecraft Country: Jig-a-Bobo (2020)
Creepier than Pennywise!!! R.I.P. Emmett Till SPOILERS
I loved this episode! The young actress was excellent. It should be a movie on its own!! Halloween costume ideas galore!!
Also, notice how Christine purposeful dies the same way that Emmett Till died and then one of the men says " who would want to die that way". Great symbolism in that. Also notice how the little black girl goes through all this trauma but is constantly ignored or pushed aside by society and her loved ones. The symbolism has me shook!!
Lovecraft Country: Meet Me in Daegu (2020)
Pointless character imo but...
But wonderful episode and acting. So what was the point of this episode? For even more diversity? I think it should be it's own entire separate show. The characters were interesting and I wanted to see more of it. But this episode, although great, felt really disconnected from the rest of the episodes so that's why I give it 8 stars. 10 stars as a stand alone episode though. And Jamie Chung did a wonderful job.
Lovecraft Country: I Am. (2020)
White people are haters!!
Realize that only white people are giving this episode negative reviews. They can't stand that this episode was dedicated to the plight of a black woman because black women are brushed aside, considered unworthy to talk about significantly and should receive only negative attention. Same negative reviews for HBOs Watchmen. Very shameful but not surprising. This was a beautiful side step episode. And the actress was superb!!
I Am Somebody's Child: The Regina Louise Story (2019)
OMG the acting...
Ginnifer Goodwin is wonderful as usual. But the girl who plays young Regina was downright cringeworthy. Goodness gracious who told her she could act? This movie was a struggle. Ginnifer deserves better than this... and a e need Zootopia part two 😉
Green Book (2018)
Vigo M should've won for best actor
Vigo should've won for best actor. I believe him in every role he plays. This performance was really excellent!! Mahersh is an ok actor imo. I don't know why and how he won an Oscar for Moonlight. That award should've gone to one of the other actors in that movie but I guess they were not famous enough.
Joker (2019)
White fragility
At first, this film seems to be about how Arthur is the victim of a cruel world. He does have a condition, but Arthur cannot handle life-he is not good at dealing with women, he makes poor decisions (gun at work), and has no self-confidence. And feels the world owes him something, and when he doesn't get it, he murders people.
Robert De Niro's character confronts Arthur about his self-pity, and Arthur, unwilling to face his own shortcomings, kills him too. He is actually very similar to any common mass shooter. Arthur is a weak man trying to find strength and relevance.
Yes, Arthur's circumstances are bad, but he lives under the same conditions as many others. Yet he is the one that responds by killing people that he doesn't like or that were "mean" to him. His social worker in the beginning tells Arthur that society disregards people like the BOTH of them. His neighbor is a single black mother who is dealing with similar circumstances in the same rat infested city, and yet she carries on. Neither of these women went on a killing spree.
At the end of the film, the anarchist crown him king. If this movie continued, the masses would realize that Arthur is a self-centered coward that has no agenda other than seeking attention. This movie is an example of fragility at its finest. Joker is a victimizer disguised as a victim.
