Ghost Hunt (2006)
Unique Anime that is very interesting to watch
I gave this a 10 because most anime's are about love, demons, witches, time travel, magic, etc. While this one takes on a whole new perspective of using multiple genre's like Buddhism, Priestess, Exorcists, Yin-Yang Masters etc to fight off spirits, ghosts, possessions, even a god. And in the process you see a unique perspective that hasn't been shown in other Animes as they all work together to fight off evil.
I loved it because I have watched hundreds of hours of Animes and this was the first like this. I hope more people get to see this as it contains a lot of personality and perspectives.
Gekijouban Violet Evergarden (2020)
A Truly Emotional Experience
This movie is for both people who have seen the series and those who haven't as well. But it takes you on an emotional experience unlike any other I have seen to date. I went to see this with my adult son, his girlfriend and my good adult male friend. And my son kept saying the movie got to me and went on to admit how he couldn't resist crying throughout even though he had never watched the series and my adult male friend said the same even though he had. And here I was in the middle crying between them. And these men rarely ever cry. It brought back in a lot of history about Violet Evergarden but incorporated a new story based off a previous one, a new unique story that will definitely tug at your heartstrings and answers to the one thing the series never did that will also make you emotional. It did several time jumps but it showed how things ended for Violet which if you have seen the series will show how much she changed and allow you to find out how her life ended up. To me it tied up all of the loose ends and allowed a truly emotional experience by a woman who had had at one point no idea what emotions were to feel everything. And to be able to put them into words which was something that took more effort than you would realize if you haven't seen the series. The ending will leave you content and happy.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Chapter Thirty-Six: At the Mountains of Madness (2020)
Great series crappy ending
So, it seems like with many great shows that the show itself is amazing but how they choose to end it is awful. While I agree with Sabrina's willingness to sacrifice herself to save everyone, in a realm of magic and the ability to do unimaginable things ending it on a note where she actually dies is really a cop out by the writers. And I whole heartedly agree with another reviewer that this was not a justifiable ending to her amazing power. Even more so the show just allowed suicide to be an OK thing by Nick to be with her because with teenage suicide says how bad that suicide is but it is ok because they are witches???? Come on, no show with a teenage audience should ever be promoting anything like this!!! And just because someone you love dies does it ever justify suicide? No, in fact in reality there is no afterlife where they would be together she was in heaven and nearly every religion would have sent him straight to hell not to be in heaven with her. Was it romantic, sure, but was it a good message to send a younger audience, hell no. Had they gone about things differently, and not made it about suicide I might have gone along with it like he got stuck in the void or something but this, was unthinkable. Not to mention, I had hopes of seeing more adventures later. Even if they were just little movies etc. This ending however closed the chapter on it forever. I am very disappointed with their decision to do this.
Wayne (2019)
Just makes you keep rooting for Wayne!
Absolutely LOVE this series. A young man gets dealt a really crappy hand in life. His mom left him at the age of 5, his dad dies from cancer from the work he had to do to keep a roof over him and Wayne's head, his older brother was abusive to him yet, you find out how much good he has done for the people who also have been picked on, beat up, etc, and it makes you see him in a way you wish everyone would. That underneath all of this teenage angst he is a great kid and it makes it so you can't stop cheering for him all the way to the end of the season. With this totally screwed up ending I can't wait to see another season to find out what happens to him and to Del. I hope the people who care about him are able to help them both. It would be nice after the crap they have both been dealt in life that they get a shot at being happy in the end. And I just want to see her dad, brothers, his mom's boyfriend and his dumbass son all get what they deserve.
Acts of Violence (2018)
And Justice is Served
I loved this move from the beginning the main character makes you root for vigilante justice. He is a cop with his hands tied and you feel the frustration because once you find out the bad guys are part of an organization who not only sells drugs that kills but also does human trafficking. You are rooting for the good guys.
You feel for the oldest brother as he is trying to get help for what seems to be ptsd as he was a soldier. And how little is actually done for vets who need psychological help after going on tours of duty.
They also make you see just how easy it is for someone no matter how bad they are can get protection from the police for simply rolling over on other bad guys, which is BS a bad guy is never going to stop being a bad guy.
They show you how this family starts out being really close and even though some have been in the war it is those skills they learned that help to defeat the guys that take one of the brothers fiance hostage. The sad part is one of the brothers and his wife die as a result of the conflicts between them.
In the end justice is served. Too bad he stopped being a cop because he was one of the good guys.
Knock Knock (2015)
OMG Can you say never open your door to strangers???
I love Keanu as an actor but man I actually felt bad for his character.
Here are two incredibly good looking chicks that show up at his door at random. They play to all his weaknesses and get him to sleep with both of them, then go on to demonstrate they had not only done this crazy s*** before, but go on to wreck his house, his life, pathologically lie about their ages, torture him, leave him buried and take the family dog. The worst is that they posted one of their schemes with him on Facebook so everyone could see. Honestly, I think killing both of them would have been better than allowing them to do what they did. I totally agree a revenge movie with some serious payback would be a great follow up to this.
Makes you never want to open your door to strangers.
Haunt (2019)
I never want to go to a Haunted House again...
I use to love going to Haunted Houses when I was younger. I went to one that had similar concepts just no one got hurt or died but scared me to death as a good haunted house should. After watching this, I literally want to avoid them all together and clowns. It really builds as it goes and doesn't fizzle out towards end as so many horror movies do. This one made me not want to stop watching. I personally loved that it wasn't over the top acting or script. And the very end was not expected and I loved the twist.
Grimm: The End (2017)
An ending done right for a change!
I loved binge watching this entire series, but, when I got to the last episode I was so afraid that I would be disappointed like the ending of the Sopranos, Trublood, The Originals, and Game of Thrones, etc. Instead they decided to give this show a send off that would make many of the shows fans actually happy including bringing back people that had been killed off earlier in the series to make things more interesting and a fast forward to the future to see how things turned out for the main characters. Thank you to the producers, writers and especially the actors for actually making the ending worth watching.
13 Reasons Why: Bye (2018)
People need to wake up and stop wanting to pretend this stuff doesn't happen in real life!
This episode will rock most people to their emotional core. But this stuff can and has happened to people. Wanting to censor things and pretend it doesn't happen just makes you want to be ignorant to the truth of just how sick and cruel some people can be. The events in this episode no matter how graphic and disgusting, it has actually happened to some people. It may be extreme but the truth is some people will go even further than they did. No matter the fact they are portraying teenagers in high school, sometimes those are the ones most emotionally and physically out of control. And let's face it the one who performed the heinous act was being physically abused at home. And while not all physically abused children/adults go on to do it to other people statistically they are the most common people who physically abuse others in their own anger. Wanting to look away, ban it, ignore it, pretend it shouldn't be on a show others can watch is not going to solve the fact that going to that extreme violence begets more violence. And you can see the entire season build up to the last scenes because when bullying goes too far some people no matter how much of a victim they are can be turned into the one who is going to retaliate in a way that will change everything and everyone's lives. If we as parents don't wake up and start talking to our kids about what is going on in their lives, try to help them when they ask for it, listen when they are hurting and help them cope with the things going on in their lives we will be doomed to repeat school violence. It is more than getting that kid help it is the fact one person made a difference in his life. Letting him know he mattered. That is what deterred him from making a huge life altering event. This show shows great promise at addressing issues we want to brush under the rug and pretend by not talking about it, it will just stop happening. That is the mistake. You have to address these topics. So maybe the kids of the future will have a real chance at opening up a dialogue with their parents and parents with their kids about these kinds of things. Ignoring it won't fix anything.
