A master piece and a classic
11 February 2023
Hard to know where to start but this one is still excellent despite the explosive development of CGI. Breathtaking scenes, gritty undercurrent that keeps emotions always on alert and albeit a smile here and a joke there, it always returns to its dead serious core. Everyone of the characters make sense and the actors get it perfectly right throughout. Very few films stand the passing of time and this one has aged with dignity and that's just standalone and not even comparing it to modern multi million dollar productions. That comparison makes it look even better!

In addition the amount of all time classic one liners makes it an absolute best ever. Up there with Alien, The good, the bad and the Ugly, Pulp Fiction, Apocalypse Now, 2001 a space odessey, A clockwork orange and Modern Times.

That hurt my eyes
26 January 2023
It's an absolute wow.

Painfully cheesy, repetitive as the drumming of a woodpecker, script recycled from a hundred movies before and once again over the toppish CGI. How many old and new monsters can you cram in? Just about as many as old and new actors to awoke that fuzzy warm feeling you had when first watching Jurassic Park three decennials ago!

Could I conjure up anything good here? I kind of like that Malcolm character and Jeffie does him quite well but it's just not near enough.

It took absolute determination to get through the whole movie without putting it on x2. Man... Hollywood is reaching new lows by the number.

Some moments of joy
26 January 2023
Where to start?

Maybe with the script and masterful dialogues... massively *mmmm* cringe, but why get stuck on the finer details of a good movie.

The acting... here we can talk about excellence in, in, in... Moving on.

Then what about the plot? It kind of strings itself together and holds up reasonably well but it is diluted by those standard all too long action scenes and the totally unnecessary side characters like Vail, Jenny and Doctor Evil and mr Pride. Thinking of that wouldn't it be lovely with a remake of that 1940s movie peppered with musty 1860s London depression and grained with that deeply disturbing malice of Stevenson's original from 1886. Nothing for the woke generations soft characters.

And from the plot to the craftsmanship which is quite good. Congrats to a lofty budget but it works.

And Cruise then? Yeah, that dimwitted baby face just lifts it!

Finally, Sofia Boutella is something to behold. Fill the minutes with slowmos of her and you'll have a blockbuster, give her a whole movie and you have a classic.

And the End, no spoilers, but prepare not to be disappointed. You got what you ordered or as the Italian saying goes: l'hai voluta tu la bicicletta, pedala!

Milking cow
22 August 2022
Cheap, poor script, worse acting, less developed characters, lousy CGI. Barely possible to watch the entire first episode. Daemon's dragon helmet in painted plastic made it watch worthy though!

Congratulations to HBO if this cow is still possible to milk another dollar or two.

Exceptionally tedious

Woke ^ 3

The moral pie serving gets unbearable just after a couple of minutes of watching. Then it accelerates past the point of ridiculous and continues towards barf next level.

Peak stupidity?
21 January 2022
Increased CGI ability doesn't seem to equate a better movie. Rather the script is getting exceedingly lousy. One even wonder why they need real actors.

Beside, the only interesting thing with this film that kept me awake was the body count of the Hong Kong mayhem. Could have been more than Hiroshima or even higher?

Extra plus menu with toppings
16 January 2022
I give the CGI team a massive plus but the rest is almost unbearable. Script, directing, acting, story line, music, dialogues even the monsters are just... massively bad. The only one playing his part decently is of course CGI Kong who by the way is also King which somewhat diminishes his appearance but he overcomes the adversities the directors threw at him.

For a change it would be nice for Kong and for us if someone could write him a proper story.

Big plus for using so many helicopters

This movie used all the goodie's in the cookie recipe. Definitely big, bigger, biggest... extra all... apart from maybe; Storyline Acting Finesse Quality Credibility

Yet I watched the whole movie so guess the cookie recipe works.

ABSOLUTELY excellent
7 January 2022
Fantastic in so many aspects. Strong acting, well developed story line, not overly sentimental, on the spot accuracy in terms of uniforms, equipment, regalia etc something that you rarely see in American movies and for once a realistic approach to German soldiers.

Amazingly lousy interpretation
31 December 2021
Not sure what the director intended but it came out... ridiculous. A trashing of Fitzgerald. Almost unbearably embarrassing.

Min requirement is 150 characters but why waste words and time on this heap a crxp.

Excellent movie

Nice with a war movie with the German's perspective. Some of the battle scenes are a bit lame but still overall well done. Superb actors and reasonably well developed dialogues and plot.

Season 5 sux
12 June 2019
Incredibly poor plot and weak characters. In order to create some excitement characters are doing all kinds of stupid things. Further the zoombie apocalypse world just doesn't move. There is absolute no progress or development neither for the humans nor for the dead. This static boredom excites no one. End of story.

Someone said cringe
15 December 2018
Oh yes. But did I expect anything else with that title? Not really but still.

Level of cheesiness: high (not max) Level of tension: low (not Marianer grave low) Level of storyline: bad (could absolutely be worse) Level of cringe: oh yeah (just as expected)

Amasingly ridiculous
21 September 2018
Worst possible script paired with pathetic acting and the shallowest characters probably ever animated on film. Massive barf fest and admittingly it was impossible to watch the whole film. A must AVOID!

Historically inaccuracies unacceptable
6 August 2018
Unfortunately a little too many historic inaccuracies to swallow and the all too tiresome portrayal of the Germans as idiotic and ineffective.

Waffen SS and Wehrmacht soldiers almost never wore skinhead haircut. Tank attacks were not performed as portrayed in the bridge scene. Weaponry of late Waffen SS units were almost certainly different from those portrayed in the movie. Wehrmacht and Warren SS units rarely mixed. Most likely the airborne soldiers should have encountered Hitler Jugend units (aged 17-21) that were exceptionally disciplined albeit very willing to sacrifice their lives.

Sad that Hollywood always has to obfuscate reality. Fake history!

Are we provoked yet or do we need more? Quentin Tarantino
19 July 2016
Just terrible. Turn the table around and have the audience laugh when SS soldiers smash Jewish heads while making baseball jokes. Disgusting!

Tarantino is determined to see how far he can push idiocy before the public and critics realize their legs where pulled. Shatting on the floor is not art despite being done by Leonardo da Vinci it is just.... shat!

One could easily stop here but adding to the stupidity is the ridiculous portrayals of Germans as stereotypical witless automatons while the crude and charming smartness of our utterly psychopathic "heroes" is supposed to be taken for granted. Americans you know!

I guess Tarantino, just like an obstinate child, tries to push our patience to the point where the crowd goes berserk but no. The world tolerates an insidious amount of stupidity.
