A Navy SEAL master chief must guide a child to safety through a gauntlet of Taliban insurgents.

A US Navy SEAL trapped in Afghanistan, and in the first skirmish with the Taliban, he discards with his back pack containing.

Hydration Bladders. This form of hydration replaces the old-school hydration canteen soldiers used to drink on the go. ... First Aid Kits. ... On The Go Food. ... Gun Cleaning Kit And Ammunition. ... Body Armor. ... Compasses. ... Shelter. ... Signal Mirror.

Despite constant engagement with enemy fire, he never runs out of ammo, he jumps into a fast flowing river with his weapon, and comes out holding it. The gun, despite being submerged in water, works perfectly every time and never jams once. I'm all for suspending reality, but oh lord, this film asks a lot. Totally unrealistic. Total BS.

Season 1 Very Good, Season 2 - Meh
19 January 2023
Dark secrets and twisted truths of the guests, the staff and the locale of a resort are unveiled over the course of a week that was supposed to be a relaxing vacation.

If ever a TV series should've stopped after season 1 and not followed up with a watered down season 2, it's this one.

The characters, plot, humour and atmosphere are very good in season one and the humour is on point. It's a really enjoyable watch and very entertaining. We were invested in the characters and wanted to see what happened next. However, withing 1-2 episodes of season two, we dropped it and haven't gone back. Proof that it's hard to replicate success with a weaker cast, weaker storylines and scripts that aren't as funny.

Good Sci-fi Serues
23 November 2022
Set in the future when technology has subtly altered society, a woman discovers a secret connection to an alternate reality as well as a dark future of her own.

It's a pretty enjoyable sci-fi series, but one thing bugged me from minute one. There's all this amazing near future tech, that most people have access to. However, Conner, who lost an arm and a leg in the military, has no access to near future prosthetics to help with his daily living. He struggles with everyday tasks, despite superior tech that can transport you to a dystopian post apocalyptic future London. This bugged the hell out of me, but I still enjoyed the series.

A very watchable gangster movie
13 November 2022
Based on the story of Daniel John Patrick Greene who was an Irish-American mobster and associate of the Cleveland mobster John Nardi during the 1970s gang war for the city's criminal operations. Competing gangsters set off more than 36 bombs, most attached to cars, in murder attempts, many successful. The film follows Greene's rise from Union boss, to a fully fledged gangland mobster. It's a very underrated film, in my opinion, and it had all the elements of a good gangster movie. There are some unnecessary sentimental aspects that could have been cut, but nonetheless, it's a solid film with great action, dialogue and plot. What makes it unbelievable is that most of it actually happened. I enjoyed the way that the film included some real news clips from the period, which added to the film's likeability. It's a movie I was completely unaware of until I found it on an IMDb list, so, it was a pleasant surprise to find a hidden gem like this. If you like gangster/mobster movies, you'll love this.

It's so bad, it's good.
4 November 2022
Terrible acting, script, plot and totally ridiculous all-round, but strangely entertaining. The show is absolutely mindless, the storylines are insane, it meanders every which way, the sub plots that frustrate and add nothing to the tale, but I still found myself going back. Yes, there are other shows much more worthy of your time and if you're not prepared to take this show at face value, I suggest you go and watch something much better (if you haven't already seen the big ones), because this show is awful. It's more comedy value, than dramatic impact that I stayed watching, but the plot, script and acting are hilarious. It's one of those, it's so bad, it's actually good.

Nobody owned a camera
3 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
In 1994, you're looking at the most amazing and unusual phenomena that you've ever seen. 300+ people had the ability to immediately call 911, but nobody owned a camera or was able to take a photograph. Many eye witnesses were at home, went outside and looked at the objects for several minutes, but not one person got a single photograph.

This is the second nd disappointing episode in the new series and it looks like there aren't enough unsolved mysteries for the Netflix producers to find. This was a very poor show for Netflix because, based on other series they've produced, you expect a lot more from them. The best thing about this series so far is the excellent theme tune!

Not so much of a mystery
3 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This is a sad story of a family in denial. A young girl who'd recently broken up with a girlfriend and been accused of credit card fraud, which she admitted to, just before she stormed off. 2 hours later, she's hit by a train. There's no doubt that there are some strange things associated with this story, like her taking off her shoes, headband and other items of clothing, but people do some weird things when they are about to commit suicide. A friend's son took his own life, and he left his phone and jacket on the bus, he didn't want his mum to know where he was or be contactable. This isn't really a mystery, but a very sad story and my heart goes out to the family who lost a lovely daughter, but they need to accept the reality and stop focusing on fantasy.

A terrible movie
8 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
One of the worst movies I've seen in a long time and thank God, I didn't pay to see it. Avoid at all costs because you will regret wasting your time watching it. There is so much wrong with this movie, it would take a long time to explain all the problems with it.

Dislikeable characters, unrealistic and plain stupid climbing, and a disgraceful script.

Just a few observations that will drive you insane about this movie, such a waste of time

Sorry, your review is too short. It needs to contain at least 600 characters.

A Real Big Budget Turkey of a Film
5 June 2022
This film has obviously had no expense spared regards to budget, but dollars spent does not equate to a great movie. The movie is so dull, I'm writing this review half way through the film. There's plenty of aircraft, training routines, shouting over comms and Tom Cruise smiling routinely or looking serious (seemingly the only two emotions he is capable of acting well) but sadly that's it. Over hyped and over rated is the story here. Very disappointing movie.

How the hell is anyone rating this a 10/10?!

The Wokeiberal Zone

Every episode is packed with woke liberalist political nonsense. A total insult to the original series and Rod Sterling would be turning in his grave of he could see this stinking turd of a series. The plots are thinner than toilet paper and the scripts should've been re-engineered for that very purpose. I've never given any show a low rating before, but this show really deserves it. Truly terrible television. If you are a fan of the original series, avoid.

Sony Pictures Spunked Millions Making This Crap
1 March 2020
Of all the film's, in all the world, Sony made a terrible WOKE / BAME reboot that was total doggy doo doo. A complete car crash of a movie and definitely one to avoid. Anyone with fond memories of the TV Show, they'll be spliced and diced if you watch this rubbish. Walked out after 20 minutes. A truly terrible movie.

Doctor Sleep
15 December 2019
The Shining is a classic horror/thriller and Doctor Sleep plays homage to it very neatly. It isn't much of a horror movie, but it dovetails beautifully with the Shining. If you are a fan of the Shining, and let's face it, who isn't. You'll enjoy this movie immensely. The movie is long at 2hr 30+, but it is so engrossing, it doesn't feel that long at all. Well worth your time and a very well paced movie. Good acting, a good story and it links nicely to the original film.

Big, Bad Pat Tate is Back (again)
10 December 2019
I rated this movie a 5. It won't test your grey matter, in fact, your brain isn't necessary for this movie. It's got a very simple and easy to understand plot, lots of heavy duty swearing, and lots of gratuitous violence. Having said all that, it was a very easy film to watch and it moves along at a reasonable pace. It's never boring and if you're looking for a movie with cockney villains running around Marbella hitting people, being nasty, nefarious and downright criminal You'll really enjoy this film. I've seen all the Footsoldier movies and this is not the worst one at all. It won't rock your world of be life changing, but it's not as bad as some of the 1* reviews would suggest. It would have been nice to see a bit more of Marbella, but this movie isn't trying to win any awards for cinematography! A 5* is about right, not bad, not brilliant.

Not Tarantino at his best
27 November 2019
Great director, great actors, what could go wrong? A top billed A-List cast, and the acting is good, but they don't have a lot to work with. The sets and costumes are great, it's a lavish throwback to the 60s and no mistake. No expense has been spared on this movie. The film for me was far too longwinded and I love all of Tarantinos films, but this one was a major let down. It just fails to deliver anything really dramatic or even remotely exciting, which is what I was hoping for. Until the last 30 minutes, it's a bit if a drag and had it been a directorial debut, I think the movie would have been more harshly criticised. I've watched a lot of movies and whilst I'm by no means a film critic, I get the impression this movie is a labour of love and film that Tarantino wanted to make. It's a story of a fading TV serial actor that has ended up making cameo appearances in other TV Shows and pilots to make ends meat. There's a sub plot that runs alongside the main story and that's the more interesting aspect of the film. If you're going to see this movie and expecting another Pulp Fiction, you'll be disappointed. If you're going to see this movie and expecting Django Unchained, you'll be bitterly disappointed. In my opinion, the movie is a very mediocre, over long, and self indulgent project for the director. I don't think he'll care one bit that some people don't really like it. I always judge a movie by this yard stick. Would I want to watch it again and the answer had to be no for this movie

Midsommar (2019)

Midsommar - definitely not a horror movie
25 September 2019
Firstly, this isn't a horror movie. Having read some complaints about the film being too long, I can honestly say, the film didn't feel long at all and I was kept interested throughout. The main characters in the film are not really believable, they make some bad choices and the acting isn't the best. The cinematography is good, it's a very odd film and I still can't put my finger on how I'd classify the movie.

It's very important to try to suspend your grip of reality and don't worry too much about the decisions made by the main characters. These are often are ridiculous at times, but when did that ever stop movie makers from making unbelievable situations, that are made even more unbelievable by the actions of the main protagonist on screen?

The film can be annoying at times, the amount of ceremonial nonsense is overdone and there's a lot of it. In short, there's too much emphasis on the ceremonial customs, lots of odd singing, and commune members running about for seemingly no reason at all.

The positives, when you weigh up the film, are few and far between. Having said that, the movie was a reasonable watch, it does provide some funny moments and there is some humour in there. Rightly or wrongly, you will find yourself laughing at the movie,. But I don't think this is a totally terrible movie. I also think that it's bad points are likeable ones and this movie could go on to develop a cult following, this could be the directors aim?

I didn't realise before watching that the director had directed Hereditary, which is much more if a horror movie than Midsommar.

The upshot of watching Midsommar is this, it's a mixed up mess at times, but a likeable one and rather than scare you, you'll laugh at times. It's not a 1/10 and it's definitely not a 10/10. It's somewhere in the middle and in my view, it's worth a watch because there are some really odd moments in it that you will becone talking points for avid movie goers.

A Really Great Show
24 September 2019
Fargo is a really great show. Great acting, great characters and even better storylines. The first season was excellent and I thought it couldn't be as good in seasons 2 & 3. But I was so wrong. The show is of a very high quality and like some shows that go into multiple seasons, this show doesn't let it's standards drop at all. Brilliant performances are delivered by the whole cast and the bad guys are often as likeable as the good guys. It's always a battle between good people doing bad things, bad people doing lots of bad things, bad luck, coincidence and there are very few morals on show - law enforcement agencies excepted. I'd class Fargo I is a highly recommended watch and I doubt it will disappoint many, if any. Superb show.

Highly Recommended
31 August 2019
The Peanut Butter Falcon is a very simple film, but it is so simple that it's brilliant. My only complaint about the film is that it's not long enough and I would love to have seen more. The acting is very good, the central characters are believable and I'd highly recommend it. In an era where there's an obsession with the next big budget block buster and multi-million dollar special effects, the Peanut Butter Falcon shows what can be achieved with a good story, cinema photography and solid acting performances. I'd go as far as saying that this film could definitely be nominated for some Oscars and I'd be disappointed if it wasn't.

Not So Bad
28 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Steve Coogan plays a hard nosed conservative radio talk show presenter Lionel McCoombe. Lionel has strong right wing views that he airs on a daily basis via his live radio talk show. His neice turns up unexpectedly and she has an opinion on life too, as most teenagers do, and strong opinions on her uncle's rotten attitude. The film meanders a fair bit, there are some throw away scenes and characters to boot, but the film holds itself together more or less. It's an old man, meets young relative and their ideas & outlook on life are poles apart. The upshot of the film is a moralistic view that the dream might be dead, but family values and the bond between families are strong. I'd say it's a lot like the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, the only difference being, it's not Christmas, there are no ghosts, but the parallels are there. Scrooge is enlightened, and similarly, Coogan's character eventually opens up his heart and mind to new ideas.

It's not a great film, but it's reasonably entertaining and kept my attention throughout. Not as bad as some of the low ratings I'd read, but by no means a classic or original.

Zzzzzzz Boring
8 April 2019
I'm by no means a harsh reviewer and I love films, but High Flying Bird was the first movie in a long time that I turned off after 30 minutes. I was so bored, the story, or lack of one was just so dull. I've seen the "landmark movie, "Social Commentary", and "So much more than a basketball movie" type reviews and all I can say is, I'm dubious about who wrote them and why. The overwhelming and overriding emotion I'll take away from High Flying Bird is one of sheer unadulterated boredom. There's nothing to draw you in, you couldn't care less about the characters and the snippets of real interviews was the only factor of interest I found. Much like an ad break in a terrible TV show, they were more entertaining than the film they were supposed to support. I might go back and watch the rest of the film someday, but that might be a long time coming.

A Really Funny Movie
3 March 2019
I was expecting just a few cheap laughs and a light hearted romp through the adoption process, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The filmtakes you on a couple's journey through the fostering and adoption programme. A subject that you'd assume would be difficult to deliver many laughs from, but it delivers on every level. The sarcasm, irony, and irreverent humour will have you laughing out loud. Credit must go to the script writer for being brave, putting one-liners in there that we all think, but dare not say out loud. The kids in the movie are great, but the two leads are excellent. Their journey, the adoption process, their trials and tribulations therein, are what make this movie so funny. A very solid 8 out of 10 and one of the best comedies I've seen in a while.

Absolute Rubbish
3 March 2019
This film is everything that's bad about movie making these days. The premise of the film.is the biggest laugh you'll get watching it. The acting just isn't convincing. The "jokes" just aren't funny I sat through it and barely cracked a smile The subject matter the film deals with, well that just makes you go meh, I couldn't care less. The mother/daughter relationship and implausible nature of it, just doesn't deliver the emotional impact it is supposed to. In fact, the film undelivered in every aspect. There are scenes shoe-horned info the movie that are obviously there to try and deliver the corniest one-liners. The only positive for me was Jennifer Lopez, who is beautiful and has screen presence, but it's clear why she took this job. Apart from her, the film is an utter waste of time, my partner fell asleep watching it and I wish I had too. If you want to laugh, go and watch Instant Family. It's a far better movie.

Conversion Therapy
3 March 2019
This was one of those films that you know you should watch, but you put off because equally, you know the subject matter will be difficult to deal with. I'm glad I put in the effort and the movie was as I expected. The grim realism of life as a gay teenager in a deeply religious family is all too apparent. The lack of understanding and empathy by the father, played by Russell Crowe, is palpable. Nicole Kidman delivers a good performance as Jared's Mother, who's troubled by her religious beliefs and unconditional love for her son, she is also superb. Lucas Hedges is the standout performer in the movie and you empathise with his situation throughout the film. A life where your told God loves you, but not if your gay, the repressed feelings and emotions are all on show here. The sad and traumatic conversion therapy unit that Jared is sent to, you just can't believe these places ist and that anyone would send a child to. I've watched some really powerful films in my life and whilst this isn't up there, it's one I'll certainly remember and it's one of definitely recommend. We need more films like this. A solid 7/10.

Starts well, but nosedives quickly into nothingness.
23 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The film starts off relatively well, but by the end, you're asking yourself, what was that all about. I've just finished watching and I'm so glad I didn't pay to see this movie. I suppose the best way to sum up this movie is that it's a story of a young girl that through tragic circumstances becomes famous. It sort of reminds me of the sad stories that some contestants have on shows like America's Got Talent or American Idol. The sad stories that make you feel sorry for them and you remember more than the person performing Celeste's back story catapults her into pop stardom and it has longevity that goes on unrelenting. She spirals into drug and drink dependency, sexual promiscuity and self loathing. I suspect the film is attempting to poke fun at pop culture and the inane songs that kids get hooked listening to. No matter how terrible, the fans of these artists are devoted, loyal and keep the dollars rolling in. The film in general could have done and been so much more than it eventually was. My advice if you want to see a great film about the rise and fall of a pop star, you could do much worse than watch "That'll be the day" and "Stardust" starring David Essex. This film is let down on so many levels, poor script, crappy over the top performances by the lead character and you feel no empathy or connection with anyone. A Star Is Born is also a much better movie and I'd go see that. This film is pretty bad that I was actually hoping for another terrorist attack during the concert in the final scene and I have never felt that way about any film.

The Terror
9 February 2019
I hadn't read the novel and had only a recommendation and a brief synopsis to go on before watching The Terror. This is a well casted, well acted and superbly delivered suspenseful 0eriod drama. You buy into the characters from the outset, you appreciate their trials and tribulations. You get a feel for the difficulties they had negotiating such a hostile environment with literally the bare minimum to survive. The levels men will stoop to and the discord amongst the crew is palpable, your almost living it with them as they overcome each hurdle. I'd heartily recommend The Terror. I watched it over the course of 4-5 days and it was excellent.

A Film That Doesn't take Itself Too Seriously
19 January 2019
I had been looking forward to seeing this film and it was a little bit of a disappointment. Having said that, it wasn't terrible and was very light hearted. It's clearly aimed at a young audience and I think anyone aged 12-15 would find something to like about the film. If you're looking for a zombie horror film with a quirky twist, I think you'll enjoybthe movie. If you're going to watch this movie as a pure zombie horror, you'll be pretty disappointed with it. Some of the songs are ok, but some have certainly been just thrown in and they don't quite fit the scenes they're trying to portray. I gave the film a 5/10 because I didn't hate it, but didn't like it that much and wouldn't want a repeat viewing. If you're looking for a fun film at Christmas time and you're short of ideas, try this film. It's a little bit random, doesn't have much for the audience to really care about and you might have a bit of a laugh. It's a very corny, very cheesey film and that's about all there is to say about it.
