A modern western
11 September 2023
The good the bad and the ugly, a 21st century version. Need I say more? 3 main characters all in pursuit of something. A hired hitman, a federal state officer and a 'mid western' (don't quote me on that) man out with his rifle, hunting, that happens to find a drug deal gone wrong. And that sets the tone for the rest of the movie. 3 men, 3 possible outcomes, 3 courses of action in this action packed, well written storyline, promoting a great cat and mouse chase. The costume director and the make up artists have perfectly complimented the way each characters tone of voice, body language captivate the audience. To a point whereby were constantly engaged with feelings of anxiousness about what may or may not happen next. It is a great adventure from start to finish, an original classic that will have you guessing on what happens next, it's brilliant to have movies like this that do not require a suspense full of music soundtracks to build up a sense of excitement. Just a great script and talented acting.

Phenomenal movie
2 September 2023
Having watched this film for the first time whilst staying in an air B&B in Oxford roundabout my sons second birthday, I was intrigued and didn't know what to expect. The film was a pleasure, the acting with an immense amount of passion for a profession portrayed by the lead role. The director has made an indefinite effort to show what t is like for a hardworking dedicatied and a natural desire, of a man to achieve success within any orchestra. When the going gets tough the tough get going, and there is no-one character ever that I have seen on the spotlight cinema that has created the most powerful cinematic. This ione hell of of a i performance.

Did someone say mild porn?

What a load of rubbish, watched 10 minutes of it where three women approach a witch, the witch then tells them there future. The garments they wore reminded me of 'lord of the rings.' Half naked Exposed bodies, terrible script and something like an 18 rated Disney fairy tale.

I Have Never Been Happier
6 April 2020
There has not been a single episode where I haven't either literally laughed my head off with borderline tears, so loud that I'm sure my neighbors are probably thinking I'm mad, Or just giggled and smiled. Regardless, my title of the review says it all! Stupendous Comedy, totally bingeworthy.

A timeless and endless classic
25 March 2020
I cannot remember the amount of times I've sat down and thought "I want to watch a new series on Netflix and start a new film!" And after 5 minutes of watching something new I thought, why bother?!? And switch over to watching friends 😂 easy to watch, great comedy and full of content that's completely original. The more I watch it the more I learn about the characters I grew up with, and how I would respond to certain situations, with or without the overhead laughter in the background. I don't know a single person that hasn't seen this, so if your one of them reading my review, do yourself a favour and grab a glass of wine, or whatever, and prepare for back to back television greatness. Thank you "Friends"

A Sophisticated Killer
24 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
There are psychological thrillers and then there's this. I cannot think of anyone other than Sir Anthony Hopkins to play the lead role of A serial killer/ cannibal/ sophisticated psychopath. He's a conversational artist, and someone who knows what he's capable of without fear of expressing his interests in what we refer to as cannibalism. The initial meeting between himself and the FBI agent Clarice, gives his character a sense of meaning, and purpose. It's not everyday he has the pleasure of indulging in a conversation, and being locked up you would think his social skills are little rusty! But quite the contrary.

I'm expected to believe that this DR knows he's aging and on the verge of never seeing daylight again, and so Clarice becomes more of a confidant, and helpful test subject for the DR to engage with, in context of the finer, more simpler pleasures of human interaction.

He gives off a sense of honour; it's not everyday a psychopathic killer is approached by an agent that seeks advice on a case which she cannot understand! The DR has been caught for similar acts of violent murders and knows no-one else is better equipped to advise young Clarice.

And now we have reason, we have a plot, and we have established the characters influences on each other. The Dr Seems to be more than willing to help, so helpful in-fact you feel as though Clarice will truly understand the mind of such a character. The Dr (aka Hannibal lectar) effortlessly allows the agent to believe she is the only form of communication he has, and that he needs her just as much as she needs him, however under false pretences, to give her the impression that he's worthy of her trust and at the same time asserting his mannerisms. No-one truly knows what Hannibal lectar seeks, except Hannibal himself! Perhaps to be remembered? By consolidating with the detective? A more exciting challenge presenting itself with Clarice in the frame? After all Clarice is the only person that can truly reveal the DR to be more than what society has labelled him to be! Through Clarice, a young in-experienced agent, the doctor sees opportunity, to tell A story, presents his theories and ideology like A conductor leading an orchestra, like a father leaving behind a legacy, like a master educating his disciple. It begs the question, if you were in the detectives position, how comfortable and relaxed does Hannibal lectar make you feel? Do you feel closer to his mind? Are you forming a bond?...... The answer is YES! And this exactly how he begins to lead his victims into a false sense of security, to eventually get close enough to you too............ EAT YOU!!!!!! Muhahahaha!!!!

As a member of the audience I was lead to believe the DR is creating a calm and relaxed environment with his tone of voice, but at the same time I felt he created a somewhat eerie atmosphere, as his reputation truely begins to preced him, from the moment he is introduced!

A film worthy to be considered as one of the most sophisticated and eerie performances to date. Suspense, suspense, suspense.

Joker (I) (2019)
10/10
Am I a joker sympathiser? Yes.
10 December 2019
This is a standalone film for The Joker, to understand his character and really identify with his personality! welcome to the beginning of the end! The film compells you to believe the joker can justify his crimes! That one man does have the power to take down those who abuse their so called " higher social status"

A man whose childhood has been subjected to acts of Evil, and has continued to suffer more subtly throughout his adult life, we as the audience must believe he is out to force that evil upon the world! So that they too, know for a moment, what's it's like to be the victim! This is his reasoning! A coming of age depicts a character created out of pure Evil. A society which has failed to recognise and listen, a society where everything is seen as a product. A society which divides people and forces entertainment to be at the heart of people's lives, sacrificing the expense of another's misery along the way. Anyone with a heart will feel empathy and understanding towards the Joker.

Batman is one of my favourite characters, becuase his abilities are not overly far-fetched, and the sense of what could be real is far more believable than having the ability to fly! But truthfully their would be NO BATMAN without the joker.

And here you have Joaquin Phoenix portraying the joker in a light never seen before! His performance is remarkable, diverse, captivating and emotional!

Honestly, this is the best acting performance I have ever seen, regardless of genre, since solo performances from the likes of Kevin Spacey.

I am grateful to be one of the first to have witnessed such a powerful performance in the cinema on it's initial release date! And will continue to discuss this film, whenever the topic of greatest movies/ acting performances arise!

Generations after generations after generations, this film should be considered as framework for Drama/Media/ filming students and people whom want to pursue an acting career.

Joaquin Phoenix you are a legend! This was a masterclass performance and you deserve all the fame and glory at all the award ceremonies!

Training Day (2001)

Death, Deception, Drugs and Debt.
28 November 2019
After 18 years, I had to watch this again. Denzel's performance is witty, promiscuous and very convincing! Ethan, alongside him, just adds to how diverse a roll he can play. From start to finish your met with complete un-predictablility, action and drama. This dialogue is a true reflection of the location and more importantly it never losses it's substance. You will be entertained even when there's no action involved. You'll constantly be glued to the screen and asking yourselfwhat's gonna happen next!?

The storyline is absolutely satisfying, especially when the plot thickens. Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, or you thought you knew what's gonna happen next, that's when the direction and momentum of the film changes direction without altering away from the main plot. Everything is connected.

A cop over-run by his own egotistical attitude, and self-consuming power, and another with a heart of gold. The contrasting relationship between the two is far from lacklustre!

Great film, script, sound-track, and shooting from the camera team. A great all round effort in capturing the intensity portrayed by Denzel and the supporting actors/ actresses.

Death, deception, drugs and debt, and not necessarily in that order, the theme is a recipe for filming success. Deserves to be in everyone's Blu-ray / DVD library as one of the greatest crime thrillers of the 21st century.

Spider-Man (2018 Video Game)
10/10
Fully action packed, with great cinematics
22 November 2019
Initially I was skeptical about this game, isit for kids? Will I enjoy it knowing Spiderman doesn't kill anyone? Will there be too many cut-scenes and not enough gameplay? Will the story-line progress, keeping me entertained and guessing?

Well it's not for kids! This game is a stroke of genius, thrilling and exciting with lots of skill moves to be learnt and combat scenarios that make taking down enemies alot more fun than I anticipated!

The cut-scenes are great, like metal gear solid, it really captures the personality of the villans and Spidermans aliases alike! Builds up great moments of action and adventure! With a hint of interaction between scenes too, so don't put your controller down to quick!

The open world map allows for side missions, and travelling using your spider webs are very cool, visually stunning to see, great gameplay, all round this ticks every box!

Highly recommend, been playing for roughly 7 hours and 50% main story completed. I've purchased the game of the year addition and look forward to the extra missions!

And you can customize your costume, move set, skills set to tailor the perfect Spiderman that suits your fighting style! What a game, MUST BUY, whether your 10 years old or 40 years old, this game does not get boring.

My greatest film of all time.
17 November 2019
I cannot express how deeply involved I became when watching this movie. The thought of "what if" continuosly repeats itself in my mind throughout this movie, constantly pushing the boundaries between reality and Fiction. The fact that even to this day I regard it as an all time great, the quality big CGI in the early 90's, this had to be the benchmark. The storyline is absolutely gripping and action packed! The acting by everyone shows true emotion and oozes passion! You could literally watch this film in any foreign language and still appreciate how brilliant every character is portrayed from start to finish. Un-predictable elements, thickening of the plot, and an un-deniable desire to push your feelings. This film is an inspiration. It has so much depth to it, from action, comedy, love, sci-fi and adventure. I've had enough of typing this review, hats off to the soundtrack aswell, it was totally spot on and played on the heart strings! I want to watch it again and again, right now! Absolutely love it. The G.O.A.T!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019 Video Game)
5/10
Underwhelming after 2 weeks of playing
16 November 2019
The storyline is short and simple, predictable and doesn't really pack a punch. Great to see captain price back! And obviously having Piccadilly circus on the maps is a great way to initially get me excited and hyped up about the game. The Co-op is a disappointment, you don't feel there was enough effort put into classic special ops, with there only being one co-op mission to play in that particular mode, and you gotta ask yourself why there isn't a campaign co-op?!! And it's definitely nowhere near as good as zombies!!! Everything feels rushed and the amount of error codes playing online, and glitches, random screen black outs, it is really a disaster release. I've had to open cases with Activision several times. I'm gonna have to compare it to it's predecessor, black ops 4, which was a blockbuster hit, and very innovative without being completely ridiculous like infinite warfare! It's time infinity ward threw in the towel! I don't even like the fact that there are no hardcore multiplayer modes options available online right now, and I'm disappointed to see that already there's a £7.99 DLC. This is a money grabbing waste of a game, your better of purchasing the modern warfare remastered edition and black ops 4 for for a total of £30 then wasting your money on this excuse of a game. I am a hardcore avid player with a k/d ratio over 1.5 consistently since 2008 modern warfare was released. This game is not the modern warfare I remember, and the guns are the only element keeping this particular one in the series, Alive! Everything else is just bad, server problems, and ridiculous size for updates totalling over 80 GB of space required! Patches are being released almost every week! It's a bad start. Max I would pay for this game is £20.00 and even then I'd give it 3 weeks before you decide to let it gather dust!

We are a society of Investors in Machines NOT people.
21 October 2019
The greatest threat to democracy today, is democracy itself. It was democracy that gave people the opportunity and freedom to pursue ambitions. Freedom allowed for Cambridge analytica to exist, democracy allowed it to continue to exist further and further until they abused their power and seeked control once again, for a price. The question is can you put a price on anything? Morals and ethics? Answering this will determine the kind of people we are, and whether or not propaganda/ marketing techniques can consciously or even sub-conciously have an impact on our decision making skills. The fact that we know now what political parties are trying to achieve and how they go about achieving it, should be enough to start a revolution.

Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice (2017 Video Game)
4/10
Should've been a movie not a game
27 March 2019
Honestly there is not enough gameplay to make this a game, too many cut scenes, basic moves list and the game itself is clutching on to it's storyline to make it arguably a great game. As mentioned in the title, should've been a movie. The puzzles are way too easy for a 18 rated game. Resident evil biohazard, another 18+ game had puzzles that literally took forever to figure out, but when you did you felt satisfied. The puzzles in this are pointless and have no real substantial meaning to any parts of the story line. Senua's sacrifice? More like senua's desperate need for the love of dillion.

Red Dead Redemption II (2018 Video Game)

Rockstar have done it again
26 March 2019
The storyline and the attention to detail makes this game even more realistic than its predecessor! Ofcourse you've got everything from the slo-mo dead eye mode which makes killing the enemy look good. BUT now you have to be alot more cautious and ration your actions becuase everything takes its toll on you, from stamina levels all the way to getting your hair-cut. If your looking for a way to describe this game using elements of previous games think, red dead redemption (the original) meets metal gear solid snake eater (rations etc) meets San Andreas (getting your swag on and your haircut) meets a classic western gunslinger! Could not give this game, and it's lengthy gameplay enough credit for making the AI so realistic. And what a storyline to match! Get on your horse; Draw your weapon and shoot!

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (2019 Video Game)
10/10
A masterpiece and bench mark game
26 March 2019
When you think of action adventure look no further than Sekiro. From software have developed a game that combines the best gameplay mechanics with stunning visuals and a very original story line. Uncharted, metal gear solid, assassin's creed, tomb raider, dynasty warriors; imagine all these games mixed into one! And you get Sekiro! Yes it's somewhat challenging! BUT you will learn to progress by learning new combat skills, engaging with the enemy in a certain way, and timing your movements to perfection. This game is not for anyone who is impatient, but more tailored towards someone who seeks gaming perfection and appreciates there's more to a game then cut-scenes and mindless hack&slash attacks. I cannot stress enough how excellent and exciting this game is. How much detail has gone into the gameplay, and how much progressive gameplay there is. Brilliant a must have!
