Worth Your hard earned money
16 July 2023
Firstly, I would highly recommend watching this in IMAX. I saw it in Dolby Atmos, and I slightly regret not forking over the couple extra dollars to see this in all its IMAX glory.

Tom Cruise... This guy is truly insane in the greatest way. I came into the movie excited for the stunts, which are phenomenal (there really is no one else who makes movies like Cruise), but I was surprised that I came out of the theater enthralled with the plot. This movie is nearly 3 hours but it felt like it was barely 2 because Christopher Mcquarrie has done an excellent job pacing this film. I didn't want it to end. Of course, this movie has amazing fight sequences; it's a Mission Impossible movie. However, as mentioned before, I was surprised to find out that the action was not what I enjoyed the most about this film. The story is very well crafted, and the action set pieces support that story to make this an epic experience.

Possibly the greatest action movie of all time.
26 March 2023
Honestly, I feel like the title to this review is enough. The fight scenes in this movie are the best they possibly could be. These are the kinds of stunts where I could see Tom Cruise watching this film in theaters and going, "Challenge accepted." The best word that comes to mind to describe the first few action set pieces is: "beautiful." I realize that what was happening on screen was very violent, but the movements and the methodical timing of them reminded me of an intricate dance, and I mean that in the highest of praise.

I feel like the word masterpiece gets tossed around a lot, but this movie is a masterpiece. I believe this will become the action movie to beat for a while.

Attack on Titan (2013–2023)
10/10
Possibly Greatest Anime of All Time
8 March 2023
Attack on Titan is the anime... no, it is THE show to beat. I think it may be the perfect show. The storytelling is masterfully done. For those who haven't seen the show yet, the giants are not the most important components of the show. The story is so much deeper and richer. Speaking from personal experience, it's a lot of fun to go back to previous seasons and witness plot points that I had a difficult time following make sense in the perspective of the latter seasons. I can't imagine it's easy to craft a narrative that asks the audience to hold on to the end to finally discover some answers.

On top of the incredible story, the action scenes in the show are just so damn fun! They are crafted in a way that convey to the audience how gigantic these titans are. The care put into the action scenes of this show, illustrating how dynamic and quick each character is reacting, does make a huge difference in how riveting it can get.

Animal Control (2023– )

Suspend your disbelief for an easy watch
8 March 2023
The premise is pretty simple: a team of animal control professionals getting into antics that require a fair amount of suspension of disbelief to enjoy. Personally, I am able to suspend my disbelief enough to have a fun time watching the show. I don't think the show is trying to do anything ground-breaking, and I don't need every show to do that. Animal Control mostly follows the proven formula for workplace comedies, such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine (although, I don't feel that Animal Control is as memorable as the former), and it's a formula that works for me.

Joel McHale is charming and fun to watch, as usual. His character, Frank, is fairly similar to the one McHale played in Community, and I don't view that as a negative. A character I was quite surprised by is "Shred" played by Michael Rowland. The character of Shred has been given a lot of heart and compassion in a charmingly innocent light. From the promos, I was a bit apprehensive about the character, fearing he would be presented as an annoying sidekick character. However, Shred might be my favorite character in the show. Everyone else is great in each of their respective roles, including Vella Lovell who, in my mind, could have also come off a bit annoying but rather is quite charming. Her character meshes really well with Rowland's.

I am a big fan of dramatic and unpredictable entertainment, but sometimes I want to sit easy and stay in a light-hearted mood. Animal Control has done that for me, and I appreciate that. I'm sure it's not for everyone, and if one was to "academically" analyze this show, it may garner a 7, a 6, or even a 5 in rating. However, I'm a fan and am hoping for more seasons in the future, therefore, I gave it an 8.

Save your hard earned cash!
5 March 2023
This is NOT a movie!!! It is a compilation of the last couple episodes of Season 2 with an episode Season 3... Just wait for Season 3 to drop to TV. Please do not support this "movie"!!!!!!! Crunch roll needs to learn that this sort of cash grab is not ok! As the credits rolled, I was utterly shocked that it was over, just like that.

This movie reeks of corporate business non-sense. There is one positive, of the myriad of negatives. Watching the last couple episodes of season 2 on the big screen was really cool; I have to admit. I will give the corporate parasites at Crunchyroll some credit though, I haven't witnessed such an obvious cash grab (and possible middle finger to all the fans) in a very long time.

Again, PLEASE do NOT spend money on this movie!

Save for $5 Tues: The 3rd Act... The Marvel Dilemma.
21 February 2023
The movie, in my opinion, was quite interesting and fun up until the 3rd act. Perhaps it started to drag near the end of the 2nd. Antman & the Wasp Quantumania suffers from a problem that is recurring throughout the MCU films, and that is tying up the 3rd act in a satisfying end. This is usually in large part due to servicing the ongoing plot that is the MCU. However, there is a very noticeable decline in quality of narrative in the 3rd acts of most Phase 4 & 5 projects, despite the huge money thrown on screen. It all feels too manufactured, than created.

The acting is all good, with Jonathan Majors absolutely crushing the role of Kang. The problems really rested with, in some part, the direction and, in large part, to the writing.

Black Adam (2022)
6/10
A lot of fun up until the ending
27 October 2022
For me, this movie is an 8 for sure, up until the last fight. It felt really rushed and some ideas near the end were cool in concept, but it didn't make a whole ton of sense narratively... But, it's still a movie that should be seen in the theaters. Dwayne Johnson is really fun to watch, along with the rest of the cast. If you're looking for a fun time at the theaters, Black Adam delivers!

Everything from a technical and acting perspective was great. It's just the last act of the movie; it just felt rushed. It seems like that's been an issue with DC movies, yet the Batman was an amazing example of giving the story enough time to develop and unfold. I wish the same care would have been given for the last act of this movie.

A movie perhaps all SHOULD see
21 August 2022
It's a movie, I think, everyone should at least see once. The actors are absolutely astonishing here. The message of love for oneself and being true to oneself is simple yet so impactful.

Reacher (2022– )
9/10
Very compelling mystery with a great lead
6 February 2022
I've never read the book, so I can't compare the show to then, but the show itself is excellent! It's a great mystery that keeps getting more riveting. Every episode is worth watching.

Alan Ritchson is awesome as Reacher, and it was superb casting! Everyone else in the show is also good if not great.

The action is definitely good, however, it could've been just a bit better; that is to say when in comparison to other Amazon originals like The Boys. And sometimes the writing can be a bit cheesy, but from my understanding, that's a bit of the style of the books, so perhaps it was a stylistic choice. But the show really shines in its story and myster plot. I am really hoping for more seasons!

Thank you Marvel for taking this risk!
11 September 2021
This was a risk making a movie starring a mostly Asian cast, and i have to say that it paid off! Simu Liu was truly perfect casting! He not only got the essence of the character, making him relatable and likeable, but it seemed that he helmed much of the action scenes. There were multiple wide shots of hand to hand combats that absolutely blew my mind. I could not stop smiling!

The director did an absolutely fantastic job leading this film. I just wished the 2nd act of the movie was paced a bit quicker. There was some set up during the second act that I wish perhaps came at the beginning. But this is a very very minor critique, and it may just be a me thing.

All in all, this is the type of movie I want to pay to see. Please Hollywood, make more movies like this: movies with heart and conviction in the craft!

Long Shot (2019)
10/10
Great Escape, yet a nice commentary on today
5 September 2021
Obviously movies like this aren't for everyone, however, if you're into Rom-Coms, Long Shot has everything you need and want! The dialogue is very well done, the two leads feel very human. Obviously, some side characters are accentuated, but it's all intentional and succeeds in the writers' and actors' attempts for comedy. The accentuation also highlight the parts of society and media that are quite ridiculous, further adding to the comedy.

The chemistry between Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen feels honest! It could just be me, but I really bought it. This might be the most charismatic Rogen has ever been, while still bringing that classic goofy Rogen vibe.

All in all, Long Shot is a great way to escape for a little bit and sort of see what one wishes the world was more like.

A film that humanizes each person, with a message that heroes can be flawed.
4 September 2021
At times the film pulls at our humanity and our loves for our fellow citizens. However, I greatly appreciated how the film did not shy away from depicting the flaws of some our greatest heroes. It also exhibits masterfully how, frankly, disgusting corporate systems and representatives can be. The film goes on to show forth heroism from the families of victims. And of course, Michael Keaton is absolutely remarkable in the movie. All in all, the film had everything I was looking for and more.

Hats off to you, Mr. Snyder
7 July 2021
I know this isn't a perfect movie, but I just had way too much fun to not give it a 10! And I can't help but compare this film to the theatrical cut, and after watching Zack Snyder's Justice League, it has become evident to me that, at best, none of the changes made to the theatrical version added anything of value.

Cyborg plays such a pivotal role in the movie, and he went from being a "throw-away" character to being one of my favorites by the end of the film. And Batman is a great character here, and he adds a lot to the story and action.

I wish the "Snyder-verse" would continue, however I can understand Zack Snyder's wishes to no longer continue with the project. I really feel like this will have a lasting impact on how films can be made and released, and I feel grateful I got to witness it.

Why the reshoots???
7 July 2021
After watching Zack Snyder's Justice League... I just don't get why the reshoots happened... and why the script change??? It seems that none of the changes actually brought anything to the story or visuals.

Batman also feels useless in the movie, whereas in the Snyder cut, he consistently plays an essential role.

Acting was good, but the script failed them.
27 December 2020
I actually thought all the actors did really well, I think some feel the acting was bad, but I felt it was rather the script that failed the actors. The dialogue and story was quite corny at times, so the actors had to do their best to work with that. Then, the action scenes... What happened??? The first movie had some great action, this movie lacked much and when it did have them, they were very sub par for a major studio film. The Avengers movies proved that good action can come with CGI, so you can't even excuse that as the culprit.

Original
9 November 2019
This movie is nothing short of a masterpiece! It's so original, and it is truly mind-blowing how well this narrative was written. Nothing is told to the audience but rather the audience discovers the world with the characters. Tom Hardy's performance is so charming and on point, even with very few dialogue. All around amazing movie!

Fresh and Feels

This movie left me feeling good and hopeful. I like to watch movies to relax and enjoy. The characters are so relatable that I really felt it. Also, it's really funny! It's everything I wanted from a solid RomCom.

Fan or not, very much worth watching
5 June 2019
I didn't know too much about them back in the day, but having seen this, I realized that the perception I had about them as this squeaky boring Disney product was way off. I'm even listening to their music, and it's really good. I also learned a lot about my relationship with my own family, and how important that is to me. Overall, great movie.

I could relate to them.
28 May 2019
This movie was really refreshing. The premise itself isn't necessarily groundbreakingly original, but how the movie was made and presented felt fresh to me. The two lead actresses are absolutely fantastic together. You really believe they are these 2 ordinary best friends and forget that they are actresses. There were so many scenes that had me stitches. This movie is absolutely hilarious, and perhaps that comes partly from how relatable it is. Olivia Wilde obviously understands the high school experience.

How did they do these stunts?!
28 May 2019
If you're looking for a good time from NON-shaky cam fights and violence, this movie is the one for you. Each fight sequence felt unique in its own way, something I was very impressed by.the story does take a bit of a backseat, but I didn't mind it because I came to the movie to watch amazing fight sequences, which is what I got.

It delivered!
28 May 2019
This movie was meant to be watched in an IMAX theater, especially because the sound makes up a very important part of the movie. To be honest, there were times when I felt that this movie is definitely 3 hours, but I can see why it was so necessary. This movie truly delivers what it promises it would! This movie really marks an important era in cinema.

The scenery was very fitting for the feel of the music. The overall feel of the video is indicative of the new chapter of the band's lives.
