Kevin Smith has lost his touch
1 November 2008
Warning: Spoilers
You know, I knew that the minute this film came out all of the smith fans would flock to see it then come back and give it a raving review. Heck I was one of them who flocked to it. Kevin Smith has made a name for himself by making movies like Clerks which, though filled with dirty humor and foul language have some very, very smart observational humor about whatever the movie focuses on. In Clerks for example the employees of more or less a quickie mart and independent video rental place. O yeah it was gross but it also was smart. He made some good points. This move proves that like Jersey Girls that he cannot do anything else. He cannot do love stories or Drama. This movie had the potential to be a movie that was raunchy yes but also made some good points about the porn industry. Instead it was like a high schoolers attempt at getting all of his friends in the movie nude. Yes ladies Jason Mewes is butt naked front and back in the movie. It is pointless. Utterly pointless. There is no humor that is above the ten year old level. If you really are a Kevin Smith fan you will think this movie was a waste. It joins Jersey Girls and Luther Reigns. I don't like Kevin cause he can make really gross stuff. NO. HE IS A SMART MAN WHO KNOWS HOW TO COMMENT ON LIFE. Did he lend his brain to Simon Pegg for the rest of his life? If he makes another movie that is utterly pointless like this one Broken Lizard productions and Simon Pegg will have my vote from now until the day I die.

nothing to write home to my non-existent pet about
21 September 2007
Warning: Spoilers
In every movie masterpiece there is that one scene or factor that grabs the audience and pulls it in, trapping it for the duration of the film. Sometimes it is an action sequence, sometimes a drama sequence, other times love or just odd. RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION does NOT have that scene. The only way this movie manages to keep your interest is to have you on the edge of your sit waiting for that scene to come, waiting to finally be pulled into the movie.

This movie was mediocre at best. None of the characters, including Alice were developed at all. So much lack of development was there that I didn't care for any of the convoy people at all. That's a shame cause they had real potential with the Alice romance.

I wish the directors would not have changed. This director tries to be a great cinema director, with great scenes but just serves to show that Milla does have blemishes on her face when the camera is a millimeter away from it.

THE FOLLOWING COMMENT IS A SPOILER. DON'T READ IT IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED.

In what I have to deem one of the dumbest and most far fetched moments in comic/ vigilante/zombie/video game movies a Fourth movie is left open for in which an army of fighting Alice will destroy the umbrella corporation. AN ARMY OF FIGHTING ALICE. HUNDREDS OF THEM. What in gods name? Come on I know that in a video game that would look cool, but it has already been proved that if you have hundreds of the same person, i.e. the agent in the matrix movies it just looks corny and stupid.

This movie proves that Hollywood is beginning to make movies that will appeal to the ignorance out there. The people that don't have enough sense to understand good movies. This coupled with Superbad proves what our parents have feared for years.

It is you people who watch these movies and go, "Wow that was good," that will be responsible for the destruction of not this country but the world when you take charge. You don't even have enough common sense to understand the smarter things in life.

pretty good
31 August 2007
I thought this movie was great. I think Bacon never fails to perform. The movies he picks to do show a lot of his depth as he very rarely plays a one dimensional character. There was a story to this movie. A very complicated story. If you didn't notice the story you got distracted by the violence. Some of the dialogue was cheesy but that is what makes it great.

The only problem I had with the film was the detective role. She seemed to serve zero purpose whatsoever. I am not taking away from the acting done for that role. But every scene she was in was slower and just did not fit with the rest of the movie. Other then acting as a very short winded inner monologue for Bacon's character, all she did was say no no, your safe, they're dead, and no.

We all knew where this movie was going we didn't need the attempt to turn into a crime drama.

If you did not like this movie you went into it expecting the wrong thing. This is a revenge movie. It had no supernatural parts. When someone was shot they bled a lot and they were in pain.

If you ever wanted to exact revenge on someone in your own mind or in your dreams go see this movie it is great.

Mystery Magical Special (1988 TV Movie)

Amazing
26 August 2007
this special was amazing. It was my first introduction to many things. Actor Jonathan Brandis and of course the amazing and unmatched showmen ship of Lance Burton. I used to sit down to watch this special every single year. What fascinated me so much was the uniqueness of Lance Burton. Lance was unlike any other magician I had ever seen. Not because he was younger or different or whatever but because he really made it a show. Any trick he uses was pure distraction because of how charismatic he was. His now famous dueling swords trick was shown one of the first times on this show. I miss it. If you remember it. If you have it. Tivo it. Divo it. Because it truly is a diamond in the rough.

Age related film
21 December 2005
If you are a kid who is 18 now and was still in high school without a car yet during the Enron scandal you will not like this movie. You have to be old enough to remember Enron and all the other major big company screw ups. You have to be old enough to understand why it was funny. This movie was not built around Jim Carrey like so many of his other films are. He produced it. This means he thought it was funny and he wanted to be involved. Carrey and Tea did work well together. Alec Baldwin was the bad part. I'm sick of seeing him play the same exact roles in movies. He has no depth whatsoever. All of his brothers have more talent, depth and personality overall. The plot is funny, especially considering the current status of the business world. If you understand the work world you will like this movie. You will relate with it. You will understand how hard the work-world really is and enjoy seeing a couple do what many who fall on hard times only dream about.

King Kong (2005)

A half a step above the 70's version
14 December 2005
Peter Jackson never fails to amaze folks with his amazing visual displays and effects. Unfortunately I think he went overboard just a little bit. There is one scene, which I won't mention that looked like it was out of the 70's movie. The people and cgi were too close to each other to look right. In order to avoid that problem with Kong many of the motion shots with Kong holding the girl are far shots. The score was similar to the old 1933 movie. Which was nice. Also the background used for the opening and ending credits was straight out of the 33 movie. Nice ode to the old movie Jackson. Yes this movie had more love scenes with passion between Kong and the girl, however at times it seemed as though it was the awkward pause people have when they see someone they have seen before but can not place. It resembled the ending scenes in AVP when the audience was waiting for the kiss between predator and the female lead. The color set up of the movie was similar to LOTR. Grey and Green, sometimes it was very annoying. He also somehow managed to bring some aspects and looks in from LOTR and incorporate them into the movie. I do not know why or how. Those scenes could have been cut out. This movie could have been cut to be around 2 hours. All in all though it was a great movie. Worth seeing on a week night, but not worth running to the midnight show to see.

Good as long as you know the cartoon
2 December 2005
This movie was very very very good. It takes a lot of effort to convert a cartoon into a live action. example the Tick. I went to see it with a friend of mine who thinks "these" types of movies are stupid. He said wow the plot actually makes sense. The action sequences were well done. The camera work was obviously done in some instances to hide the fact that it was not Charlize but a stunt or trained worker. The scenes were incredible. If there was not action sequences you were in aww of the set. It is one of the first and only movies to make unrealistic body alteration look real and legit. Giving a character four hands instead of two hands and two feet if very difficult to achieve. They pulled it off nicely. Unfortunately this is not the type of movie to kill at the box office. It is too far out there for some people. This movie will more than likely be a huge hit in the rentals (see UNLEASHED).

Great movie worth every cent you put into buying it or renting it.
12 November 2005
This movie is truly one of a kind. Though, the story has been done before, it is something very different. It is a break-out role for the previously struggling Jet Li. Jet Li's basic knowledge of the English language has faltered him many times with big hits in the U.S. It would seem as though many movie makers are iffy to pick Jet Li due to his weak grasp of the Language. A voice coach and what can only be called method acting later Jet Li finally shows the American world what he is capable of. A performance that would have made any good martial artist blush. I think if Jet Li continues to work on movies like this he will undoubtable succeed and finally gain the success in America He seemed to have gained in other area's of the world. Morgan Freeman and Bob Hoskins lead Jet Li in one of the most underrated movies of the year.

Cute, satisfying, and slightly disappointing
18 October 2005
This movie was cute. It satisfied the great demand for a Wallace and Gromit movie. However, this movie reeks of big wig Hollywood involvement. One of the great things about The wrong trousers was that it was mainly focused on Wallace and Gromit. There was very little involvement of the townspeople. The fun was the fact that Wallace was a complete bumbling idiot who could not invent to save his life. The wrong trousers was a unique story that revitalized the claymation genre. This story has been done to death. I felt like I was watching sections of King Kong, Jumanji, and Gumby all mixed into to one. Wallace and Gromit are more suited to shorts. After about twenty minutes they loose their mystique and interest. I know that a lot of people talk about the references to those movies but if the makers of Wallace and Gromit had to resort to cheap pops (fan response) tactics perhaps they were not ready to make a full length feature film.
