Not sure about this one
Strange film, definitely not Park Chan-wook's best. I enjoyed parts of it, but lots didn't make much sense. Tonally it's all over the place. In parts it's slapstick, action, romantic, and noirish. Some of the cuts between scenes are very, very jarring. I don't necessarily mind that, David Lynch and Bong Joon-ho do it very well. However, I'm not sure Park Chan-wook has mastered it. Bizarre zoom ins, POV shots, and character's recreating crimes in their mind and being shown in the action. I don't really believe the romance/obsession angle. It's left me very puzzled. I'd watch it again though. It's got something.
Jigeum uri hakgyoneun: Episode #1.9 (2022)
Why the Leg?
I came away from this episode with one question.
Why would Nam-ra use the wood to stab Gwi-nam's leg when his rectum was so vulnerable. He'd have a hard time walking and kicking people with a 30cm piece of timber up his gastrointestinal tract. Didn't make any sense.

Same old problem in Korean TV and moves
Why do they do it? Why? Why? Why? Do Korean movies and TV series have to have the evil foreigner. I can't even begin to list all the Korean films I've seen where the Korean psyche has to blame foreigners. Even worse is that they hire the worst actors. Seriously who do they hire? Are they real actors or just students and teachers over in South Korea that answer some ad online After a superlative episode 6 we get this nonsense? Has there ever been such a drop off in quality in anything ever made with the obvious exclusion of the two Stone Roses albums.
Too Close (2021)
Happy happy joy joy
Unrelenting misery that seems to appeal to only the female of the species. Everything is covered, adultery, drink, pills, mental health issues, child death. Ye gods. I kept my mum company while she watched this. She loves a bit of misery and was like a pig in muck watching this.
Cargo (2017)
Baby Crying
This film looks pretty good. I am trying to enjoy it. But the baby has been crying intermittently for 30 minutes now. I'm presuming it's not going to stop anytime soon. Dear film makers, the sound of a baby crying is one of the most annoying noises to the human ear (another is ,my pommie whining). A baby's cry has evolved over the millennia to attract the adult. FFS don't stick it in a bloody film for 30+ minutes. Jesus, I've stopped the film at 26 minutes just to whinge. Not sure I will be able to finish it as the noise is doing my nut in.If I do finish it I'll come back and amend the rating.
