Little Fires Everywhere (2020)
Kerry Washington depresses me
Why why why is this ish (Kerry) so pathetically sad all the effin time!?! She shows no range of emotions. Just depressing to the point of being creepy. Who wants to be around someone like her? Imagine being her daughter. Who told her to do the role this way? The director? Or is this all she can do for now on. Like Will Smith and his tired ol stupid heartache expressions he gives us since Pursuit of Happyness. Enough! Like another reviewer said it's painful to watch her. She drags the whole series down whenever she's on the screen. I was glad when her parts were over. That's why only seven stars from me. It could have been so much better if Kerry wasn't such a drag!
Tell Me Who I Am (2019)
The brother COMPLETELY forgot? Hmmm...
I wrote a sizable review and it got deleted so this is just a brief description of what I remember. Because trust me this film is forgettable. If I have to see another camera shot of rain pelting against a window pane for cinematic effect I'll die of boredom. This whole film just felt too scripted. Especially for a documentary. With the heavy subject matter, where is the evidence? Yeah it's tough on these men to reveal every heartbreaking tragic detail of their experience, well Marcus mainly, but to just assume that the viewer will completely believe what has happened to them simply because they're telling us feels like exactly what a "story" is all about. A story. A cleverly crafted story told with the intent to entertain. I'm not doubting something awful has happened here. But this is a documentary and we the viewers want rawness and truthfulness. This film will not deliver that. Instead you get great story telling about a life that sounds like a tale.
Mother! (2017)
What the Hell???
How many movies can be made about a big empty spooky house??? Apperently never enough. Big ol house with only two people living in it. Linens stored in the basement along with the washer and dryer even though there are plenty of rooms and closets that can be used instead. The wife is in the process of renovating the house ALL BY HERSELF, after a massive fire. The shots shown outside the house is nothing but grass as far as the eyes can see. No roads, not even a driveway is shown. in the beginning of the movie, the wife (Jennifer Lawrence) walks around this huge mansion with a thin white night gown on, conviently exposing her nipples, like a ghost floating around on Halloween night. Back bone straight, shoulders back, like she is practicing perfect posture for the runway. What a laugh. Her face fills every frame, big and porcelain like. Ok. I wait to see what the movie is all about. I wait even further. Still further. Then it starts to get even more ludicrous than the first hour and a half. By then I knew it would be one of those stupid endings where nothing is explained. Whatever they were trying to do, allegory or whatever, could have been done much better. I don"t care about Jennifer Lawrence, she is highly overrated. Michelle Pheiffer was the best 'event' in the movie. The tunnel in the basement, never explained. This movie was a complete chaotic mess of ridiculuosness, nonsensical scenes that was just that. Scenes. This is NOT a movie. You've been warned.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Just praises for a fine film!
This has got to be one of the greatest films of all time! Absolutely flawless! The acting, the story line, the scenery is amazing. Amazing directing. Just a superb production. Sorry if I'm extra with the praises but this movie will not waste your time. I saw it several years ago and can still watch it til this day and be entertained. First review on IMDb.
