Atlas (2024)

Entertaining though
2 June 2024
ATLAS, starring the ever-dynamic Jennifer Lopez, is a thrilling ride from start to finish. The film's pacing is masterful, ensuring that there's never a dull moment. Lopez's performance is captivating, as she brings depth and emotion to a role that confines her within the mechanical bounds of a robot's cockpit. While some may find this setting limiting, it's a testament to her talent that she can command the screen and keep audiences engaged throughout the movie's runtime.

However, this creative choice does come with its drawbacks. The majority of J. Lo's screen time is spent inside the robot's cockpit, which, while showcasing her acting prowess, gives the film an air of Goldorak nostalgia. This might not be what one expects from a big-budget Hollywood sci-fi movie, but it adds a unique charm to the film. It's a fresh take on the genre that blends the familiarity of classic mecha anime with the polish of modern cinema.

In essence, ATLAS is an enjoyable experience that brings something new to the table. It's a film that's sure to entertain, and while it may not fit the traditional mold of its peers, it stands out for its ability to keep us thoroughly entertained without ever feeling repetitive or mundane.

Cinematic enigma
18 May 2024
« Avatar: The Way of Water" emerges as a cinematic enigma that, despite its breathtaking visuals and groundbreaking effects, falls short in narrative depth and character development. The film's ambitious attempt to transport viewers back to the lush world of Pandora is marred by a plot that seems stretched thin over its extensive runtime.

The sequel's reliance on spectacle over substance leads to a storyline that feels recycled and predictable, lacking the originality that made its predecessor a standout. The characters, while visually stunning, fail to evoke the emotional connection necessary to drive the story forward, leaving the audience adrift in a sea of stunning imagery without a compelling anchor.

Moreover, the dialogue often borders on the banal, with attempts at profundity coming off as trite rather than insightful. The film's antagonists, particularly the human military forces, are painted with broad strokes, their motivations unclear and their actions serving more as plot devices than as genuine threats.

In essence, "Avatar: The Way of Water" is a testament to the power of visual effects but also a reminder that even the most beautiful of films can lack the soul needed to make a lasting impact. It's a reminder that cinema is not just about what we see, but also about what we feel, and in this regard, the film struggles to resonate on a deeper level.

For gans only
7 February 2024
Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a tv series based on the popular book series by Rick Riordan, but it fails to capture the charm, humor, and adventure of the original source material. The series is plagued by poor writing, bad acting, cheap effects, and inconsistent plotlines. The characters are bland, unlikable, and often act out of character. The show also deviates from the books in many ways, changing or omitting important events, characters, and themes. Fans of the books will be disappointed by how the series ruins their favorite stories and characters, while newcomers will be confused by the messy and illogical narrative. The series is a waste of time and money, and does not do justice to the rich and fascinating world of Greek mythology that Riordan created. Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a tv series that should have never been made.

9-1-1 (2018– )

Thrilling and emotional
7 February 2024
9-1-1 is a thrilling and emotional drama that follows the lives of first responders in Los Angeles. The show features a stellar cast, including Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Oliver Stark, Aisha Hinds, and Ryan Guzman. They portray firefighters, paramedics, police officers, and dispatchers who deal with various emergencies, from plane crashes to snake bites, while also coping with their personal challenges.

9-1-1 is not your typical procedural show. It is full of surprises, twists, and heart. The show does not shy away from exploring the human side of the heroes, their relationships, their struggles, and their growth. The show also tackles relevant and timely issues, such as racism, mental health, addiction, and domestic violence, with sensitivity and nuance. The show balances the drama and the action with humor and warmth, making it a captivating and enjoyable watch.

9-1-1 is similar to the excellent TV series Chicago Fire and Chicago PD in that they both focus on the heroic work of first responders in a big city. However, 9-1-1 has a more diverse and dynamic cast of characters, and a more creative and unpredictable plot. 9-1-1 also has a more cinematic and spectacular style, with stunning visuals and effects that make the emergencies feel realistic and immersive. 9-1-1 is a show that will keep you on the edge of your seat, make you laugh, cry, and cheer, and leave you wanting more.

Worst Episode of Star Wars ever
28 January 2024
Star Wars episode 1: The Phantom Menace is a movie that should never have been made. It is a disgrace to the original trilogy and a waste of time and money for the fans. The plot is boring, the dialogue is cheesy, and the characters are annoying.

The worst offender is Jar Jar Binks, a CGI creature that serves no purpose other than to provide cheap comic relief. Jar Jar is not funny, he is irritating and offensive. He speaks in a broken dialect that mocks various ethnic groups and he constantly gets into trouble that endangers the heroes. He is a liability, not an asset, to the story.

Another terrible character is Anakin Skywalker, the young boy who will grow up to be Darth Vader. Anakin is played by Jake Lloyd, a very bad actor who delivers his lines with no emotion or conviction. He is supposed to be a prodigy, but he comes across as a brat. He is not believable as the chosen one who will bring balance to the force. He is just a plot device to set up the sequels.

The movie also suffers from poor pacing, dull action scenes, and a lack of tension. The pod race is too long and repetitive, the lightsaber duels are too choreographed and flashy, and the final battle is too easy and convenient. The movie does not make us care about the fate of the galaxy or the characters. It is a soulless cash grab that tarnishes the legacy of Star Wars.

Obliterated (2023)
1/10
Waste of time and talent
7 December 2023
Obliterated is a Netflix original series that tries to be a mix of action, comedy, and drama, but fails miserably at all three. The premise is absurd and implausible, the characters are clichéd and unlikable, and the humor is juvenile and offensive. The show is a waste of time and talent, and an insult to the intelligence of the viewers.

The plot of Obliterated revolves around an elite special forces team that is supposed to stop a nuclear bomb from blowing up Las Vegas. However, after they deactivate the bomb, they discover that it was a fake, and that the real one is still somewhere in the city. The problem is, they are all high on drugs and alcohol, and have no clue what they are doing. The show then follows their misadventures as they try to find the bomb, while also dealing with their personal issues and conflicts.

The show is supposed to be a satire of the action genre, but it is neither funny nor clever. The jokes are mostly based on crude sexual innuendos, racial stereotypes, and drug-induced hallucinations. The show also tries to be edgy and provocative, but it only comes across as insensitive and tasteless. For example, one of the characters is a Korean-American helicopter pilot who sees a gremlin on his wing after taking shrooms. The gremlin is voiced by Jason Mantzoukas, who constantly makes racist and sexist remarks to the pilot. This is supposed to be hilarious, but it is actually cringeworthy and offensive.

The characters are also poorly written and developed. They are all one-dimensional and stereotypical, and have no redeeming qualities. The team leader is a CIA officer who is a cold and ruthless womanizer. The Navy SEAL is a dumb and arrogant jock who sleeps with anything that moves. The Marine sniper is a hot-headed and trigger-happy Latina. The NSA hacker is a nerdy and insecure Jewish girl. The bomb expert is a grumpy and cynical old man. The civilian party girl is a naive and clueless blonde. The helicopter pilot is a timid and insecure Asian-American. None of these characters are likable or relatable, and their interactions are forced and unnatural.

The show also fails to deliver any thrilling or exciting action scenes. The action sequences are poorly choreographed and edited, and lack any tension or suspense. The show also relies heavily on CGI and special effects, which look cheap and unrealistic. The show does not even have a coherent or consistent tone, as it switches from comedy to drama to action without any logic or transition. The show does not know what it wants to be, and ends up being nothing.

Obliterated is a terrible show that should be avoided at all costs. It is a disgrace to the action genre, and a disappointment to the fans of the creators, who are also behind the successful Cobra Kai series. Obliterated is a bomb that should have never been made.

Money Heist (2017–2021)
5/10
Huge disappointment
23 November 2023
The fifth season of La Casa de Papel is a huge disappointment for the fans of the series. What started as a clever and thrilling heist story has turned into a chaotic and unrealistic war drama. The plot is full of holes, inconsistencies, and absurdities that defy any logic or common sense. The characters have lost their charm and depth, and act in ways that contradict their established personalities and motivations. The dialogues are cheesy, repetitive, and melodramatic. The action scenes are over-the-top, implausible, and boring. The flashbacks are unnecessary, confusing, and annoying. The ending is anticlimactic, predictable, and unsatisfying.

The fifth season of La Casa de Papel is a clear example of how to ruin a good show by dragging it on for too long and losing sight of what made it appealing in the first place. The series should have ended after the second season, when the heist was successfully completed and the characters had a satisfying closure. Instead, the creators decided to milk the cash cow and extend the story with new seasons that only tarnished the legacy of the original. The fifth season is the worst of them all, and a waste of time and talent for the actors and the viewers. It is a shame that such a brilliant series had to end in such a dismal way..

The Crown (2016–2023)

A must-watch
16 November 2023
The Crown is a Netflix original series that has been captivating audiences since its debut in 2016. The show chronicles the life of Queen Elizabeth II, from her early days as a newlywed to her current reign as the longest-serving monarch in British history. The series is a masterful blend of drama, history, and politics, and it has been praised for its stunning cinematography, intricate costume design, and exceptional performances by its cast.

The show's fifth season, which premiered in November 2022, is no exception. The season features an all-star cast, including Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Dominic West as Prince Charles, and Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana. The season focuses on the tumultuous 1990s, a decade that saw the royal family face unprecedented scrutiny and scandal.

Despite the controversies surrounding the show's portrayal of the royal family, The Crown continues to be a critical and commercial success. The show's writing is sharp and insightful, and it offers a nuanced look at the complex relationships and power dynamics within the royal family. The show's attention to detail is also impressive, with meticulous recreations of historical events and locations.

Overall, The Crown is a must-watch for anyone interested in history, politics, or drama. The show's exceptional production values, outstanding performances, and compelling storytelling make it one of the best shows on television today. I highly recommend it!

Captivating drama show

Based on the bestselling novels by Tess Gerritsen, the show combines thrilling mysteries, witty dialogue, and dynamic characters to create a compelling and entertaining viewing experience.

The series showcases the chemistry and friendship between the two leads, played by Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander, who balance each other's strengths and weaknesses. Maura is a brilliant and sophisticated doctor who uses her scientific knowledge and analytical skills to examine evidence and perform autopsies. It will also make you laugh with its humorous banter, funny situations, and hilarious references. It will also touch your heart with its emotional moments, heartfelt scenes, and genuine friendship. It is a show that has something for everyone, and will leave you wanting more.

Disappointing
13 November 2023
The Sum of All Fears is a disappointing and dull adaptation of Tom Clancy's novel, which fails to capture the suspense and realism of the source material. The movie suffers from a weak script, poor direction, and miscast actors, especially Ben Affleck as Jack Ryan, the CIA analyst who tries to prevent a nuclear war between the US and Russia.

Affleck is too young and inexperienced to play Ryan, who is supposed to be a seasoned and savvy expert on international affairs. He lacks the charisma and credibility of previous actors who played Ryan, such as Alec Baldwin and Harrison Ford. He also has no chemistry with his love interest, Dr. Kathy Muller, played by Bridget Moynahan, who is given little to do except look worried and wait for Ryan to save the day.

The plot of the movie is also full of holes and implausibilities, such as the ease with which a group of neo-Nazis acquire and smuggle a nuclear bomb into the US, and the lack of communication and coordination between the US and Russian leaders, who are ready to launch missiles at each other without verifying the facts. The movie also changes the identity and motivation of the villains from the novel, making them less interesting and relevant to the current political climate.

The movie also fails to create any tension or excitement, despite the high stakes and the potential for global catastrophe. The action scenes are poorly staged and edited, and the special effects are unconvincing and outdated. The movie also resorts to clichés and stereotypes, such as the heroic American president, the evil German mastermind, and the loyal Russian friend.

The Sum of All Fears is a waste of time and money, and an insult to the fans of Tom Clancy and Jack Ryan. It is a bland and boring thriller that does not live up to its title or its premise.

The Diplomat (II) (2023– )
1/10
Most shabby series of the year
13 May 2023
If you are looking for a captivating and well-made series, go your way. "The Diplomat" is a real audiovisual disaster that does not deserve your time or money. Supposed to immerse us behind the scenes of international diplomacy, it only bores us with flat dialogues and scenes without relief. The actors are bad, the direction is poor, and the story is incomprehensible.

The series follows the adventures of Warren, a former American diplomat who finds himself embroiled in a corruption and arms trafficking case involving his former boss and secret agents. But instead of keeping us in suspense with twists and revelations, the series knocks us out with lengths and repetitions. We attend endless meetings where the characters repeat the same things to each other without ever moving forward. We suffer from failed action scenes where the special effects are laughable. We endure moments of forced romance where the actors have no chemistry.

The only moment that makes you smile is when Warren nearly gets run over by a car in London, when he has just left his hotel. But this is not voluntary on the part of the writers, it is probably a shooting accident that was kept in the editing. The rest is sterile and boring chatter. It's a shame, because diplomacy is an exciting subject that could have resulted in a thrilling and informative series. But " The Diplomat " is only a crude and failed caricature of this milieu. This is arguably the most shabby series of the year.

Why, but why!
2 November 2022
I cannot understand why they decided to make this episode. It's just nonsense and so stupid. Hiw can a so clever teacher be so stupid and do more stupid things? Really? What's the aim of this episode? Why this stuff? Did they run out of ideas or what? Is that just to make an additional episode just because they needed to have 10 for the season??? As a matter of fact, this episode can be missed and I actually slept in after the 20 first minutes. I thought it could be interesting and as enjoyable as Rowan Atkinson's The Bee!!!

But no. The episode eventually finished as it started: dully and stupidly.

Worst episode ever.
27 March 2022
That is the worst episode ever. I hate those musicals. It's so unnatural and boring. This must be avoided. I hope next episodes won't be like this. It's OK for one song in an episode from time to time. If only actors were talented singers... but we cannot say that here.

Covid movie
25 May 2021
I loved the first movie. This sequel seems to have been made just for money. Story line is bad and boring. Even actors do not believe in it. Only the first scene and special effects are good. The rest is just crap. It seems this movie was for teenagers of the 80's. I admit now that this movie is surpassed by the 1975 original series with Linda Carter.

Where are the wings?
23 January 2021
A few minutes after the show started, the dean of the school says fairies used to have wings but they don't have any niw. But why? According to Once Upon a Time, they still have...

Anyway, this show tries to be a new Harry Potter but it's far from its goal. Nothing happens in there. It's just fa fa fa and actors are so bad. Story is so uninteresting...

For teens only
12 January 2021
I wanted to watch it on DVD but I did watch it on Netflix instead. For free! I did well, not to buy this DVD. It's definetely not a must-see. The story line is quite different from the former Spiderman movies and it's quite disturbing. Spiderman is a teen without any superpowers. He just has a special suit and must buy his web fluid! Special effects are often very bad in this movie, and I was happy when it finally ended... after over 2 boring hours!
