Saltburn (2023)
As twisted as it can get
This movie is INSANE! I went in without knowing anything about this film, and boy am I shocked. This movie is filled with a dark academia vibe with very deep themes.
This movie centers around Oliver, a boy who just started college at Oxford and is trying to fit in with the socialite while being a scholarship student. He is socially awkward and smart. But then he meets Felix, a extrovert rich kid whose live is entirely opposite to what Oliver knows... And this is all you need to know. Things start to happen, and the movie becomes absolutely amazing.
This is by far, best watch of 2023. The movie engages and traps you in just in the first 2 minutes.
The cinematography is just spectacular. Every shot just in the right place and MY GOD how beautifully is composed. The shots just speak for themeselves. Photography and color palette is very pleasing and satisfying with red and blue mixtures. Everything looks just like an old renaissance painting.
There were scenes where i was just left with my mouth opened just of how beautiful they looked. Honestly outstanding.
And THE ACTING. Barry Keoghan delivers EVERY SINGLE TIME. His character arch is so wide and interesting and i dont think there is anyone that could've done it better than him. For me is Oscar worthy. So vulnerable, so insane. He just went crazy with the character.
Jacob Elordi gives us the perfect Felix as well. Typical playboy, nice, charming. And just makes the public easily fall in love with him.
No doubt this is a must-watch
ps: better watch alone or with friends. Trust me.. avoid the awkwardness.
Prisoners (2013)
Suspense at its finest
This movie made get literal chills and it made my skin crawl while not even having an ounce of horror or creepy aspects. It's just so well made and the keys they use such as the right cuts, the acting, the shots, the suspense and desperation made you so frustrated, that made me realize that this movie is the definition of a good suspense.
It puts you in a place that you would never wish to be on, and you see both sides of the coin: the families and the detective. It shows you how dirty and horrible things can get as the days go by, and you as a spectator are a "Prisoner" feeling the impotent that you can't help at all and just hope for the best.
The movie just keeps you guessing and guessing and trust me when I say this, the ending is so unexpected. My mouth was open for the entire last 30 minutes of the movie. This is an amazing movie with an amazing writing and acting, mostly from Hugh and Jake, you can clearly see their frustration and madness and I truly believe its one of their best works by far.
Not a bad thing I can say about this one. Go watch it now!
The Legend of Tarzan (2016)
An adult, and better, version from the story we know
Amazing. You cant stop watching from the first minute. The acting is grate, the action sequences are very well paced and the music is so underrated.
This whole movie deserves much more acknowledgement than it has. A very good sequel to the original story, a must watch if you want to be entertained!
Redeeming Love (2022)
Hallmark type of movie with a high-budget
The movie has a very nice and heartwarming cinematography, although i have to admit the script is kind of cringy because it all sounds like something we've already seen before in a cheap romance novel.
Even though the storyline is bad, I can't judge the actors. They did a very good job and also portraying the characters in a way the you could understand their situation and why would they act or react on a certain way. Abigail Cowen is spot on!
If you don't have anything to watch and are looking forward for a feel-good romance, this is the watch for you.
West Side Story (2021)
Spielberg's first musical is indeed a must-watch in cinema!
This movie completed all my expectations! Really good and entertaining. I think they can get the win at the oscars for best costumes, lighting and set design cause wao! It really stood out in the film.
The music and choreo was spot on, including the singing. Every actor sang pretty well, specifically Maria and Anita. Although the main characters were Tony and Maria, my eyes were always in Anita and Bernardo, they did such a splendid job and honestly they stole the show.
To be a remake of an old musical, Spielberg accomplished keeping the essence of the original as well as putting a modern vibe to the movie that honestly went amazing!
A must watch!!
The Matrix (1999)
The best definition of a good sci-fi movie
WAO! This movie was definetely another level.
Everytime i finish watching a GOOD movie; and not just good STUNNING, I always feel good and satisified, and this movie made me feel just like that.
This movie got me hooked literally when it just started. Everything was so mysterious and confusing but when you get to understand what is going on it´s definetely the biggest mind-blown.
I loved all the characters, especially Neo and Trinity. They were so badass. There IS a lot of BADASS in this movie too.
There were some parts in which the cinematography was on point. Of course CGI wasn´t the best but it was the best we could get during the 90s.
I especially loved the costumes, the score and the plot in general. Whoever got the brains to put into that matrix world is crazy, in a good way.
Good movie to watch if you are looking for something a little bit different and mind-blowing, and i dont recommend this one for kids becuase they wouldn´t understand the plot and if they did they would have an existential crisis. So nono kids.
Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014)
Nothing out of this world...but quite a good photography
What is good? Mm yeah sure, but nothing out of this world.
I think this movie was really slow-paced. In a few parts i was actually getting kinda sleepy. I didn't like the score, it just stressed me out.
I can say that in a few scenes i really enjoyed the photography and cinematography. For example that one scene with the christmas lights is beautiful!
Everyone acted pretty well. Michael, Emma and Naomi were in my opinion the ones that stood out the most.
A Clockwork Orange (1971)
A masterpiece from the 70s
I just finished watching this movie and i am shocked because of how good it was. At first i thought it was this insane and weird movie, which... it is, but in a good way.
The movie takes you through a wild and crazy journey through Alex's world while he is glorified by violence and how the consequences turn up against him.
The acting was amazing from part of Alex. I loved the look he made so much. It gave me chills! Cinematography was insanely gorgeous.
The makeup and costumes were spot on! I really loved the purple outfit that alex wore in the beginning of the movie and the choice of outfits of the four boys. I loved so much the little detail of the fake eyelashes in Alex's right eye. It gave him more of a villain and vicious look. Making him look more interesting.
The movie was well-paced. It never bored nor i never felt it was going to quick, at all. It was all just perfectly balanced.
There's nothing that i can complain about this movie. Enjoyed it so much, loved the ending, love the storyline, everything.
Please go watch this movie cause is definitely worth your while.
Project Power (2020)
Everything was expected
I think they had a good plot but they didn't know how to portray it into a film. It was very obvious how the movie would end. Not a good movie. Kinda stupid.
Gone with the Wind (1939)
Although it's long, is definitely worth watching
Although the movie was very long, i couldn't stop watching. I just wanted to see how this movie would end.
Scarlett was to blind to actually see how much Rhett cared for her, loved her and cherished her. He gave her the entire world but she was always looking sideways to another man that she knew she would never get and who was never in love with her. And when she actually realized, it was too late.
It turned a small love for ashley into an obsession that it was out of retth control. So that's maybe why he had no other choice than leaving her after their daughter's death. He lost his hope.
Photography, scenography, soundtrack, costumes and makeup were spot on. Any time Scarlett came out with a new outfit, I was fascinated.
The actings were incredible, especially from Scarlett, retth and mammy.
So if one day you want to see a good movie with a lot of romance, war, and specially DRAMA... go check this one out!
Gabriel's Inferno: Part One (2020)
Stays true to the book
The movie was great. I read the book and i can say that i was very satisfied with this movie. Everything that happened happens in the book and i love that. It really shows that they did put a lot of effort for this movie. Actors were amazing, principally the leads. Totally recommend this one. Waiting for the part 2!!!
