Camouflage (1961)
Great Show
In Arlington Heights, IL we never had a cafeteria in any of the elementary schools (1961) so I rode my bike home from school for lunch and always watched this game. True, I was 11, but I thought it was the greatest thing on! I'd draw hidden pictures on my blackboard and see if my family or friends could find it. I also remember winning wonderful cars (Pontiac or Oldsmobile) if the contestant got the final hidden picture game. I even had the home version!
I wonder why this game lasted so briefly. I enjoyed the music and the hidden pictures - the only one I could ever get was the lemon hidden as part of a bridge over a garden stream.
Really good memories are connected with Camouflage.
The Lucy Show (1962)
TV Perfection
The Lucy Show was one-of-a-kind and had Lucy and Vivian in one hilarious episode after the other. Scenes of Lucy's knitted dress coming unraveled because a strand is caught in the elevator, watching Lucy and Viv try to get Mr. Mooney's parakeet from the roof, and especially Lucy and Viv painting the interior of their house, getting locked out, and sleeping in Viv's convertible are unmatched. This series is actually better than I Love Lucy - Lucy and Viv had a chemistry that cannot be measured. There are a few seasons in black-and-white and then some in color - Lucy and Viv competing for the last line in Cleopatra, Lucy and Viv installing a shower, Lucy and Viv sleeping in bunk beds - total fun!
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962)
Perfection
A true story of a haunted house - with a living, breathing ghoul in residence! This is a great movie following a child star through her descent into alcoholism. Both Bette Davis and Joan Crawford (Blanche) are exceptional in this movie and this is one movie you really don't want to miss! Note the re-creation of "I've Written a Letter to Daddy" - truly chilling! The photography is exceptional and there are many fascinating scenes - Miss Davis has perhaps the most, eh, exotic makeup job ever seen in a movie and her every movement furthers her character. Victor Buono, in his first role, is a fascinating find, too - his lust for money vies with his morality and he wins by just a nose!
